Still struggling a bit
Wallflower7522 replied to Nowarnp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the same way. I felt like I was healing so much slower than everyone else. Another girl on here who had the same date as me was doing a 5k before I could even walk a mile. You'll get there. It took me about 3-4 weeks to not have as much pain and about 6 weeks to feel "normal." -
I downloaded the Pact today, formally Gym Pact. Basically how it works is, you work out you earn money, you don't work out you pay. Well they now have an option to sync with My Fitness Pal and if you remember to log in you get paid, and if you don't you pay. So I signed up for the MFP pact this week and i was going to sign up for the gym part when my gym opens next week. After I signed up I learned that it doesn't count if you log less than 1200 calories. FAIL. I didn't realize this before even after reading some reviews. I'm going to cancel it after the first week and just log a couple of extra Snacks for my log in this week. Just wanted to warn you all if you're thinking of signing up.

I want to, but I am afraid
Wallflower7522 replied to infinite_allure's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You know what, don't worry about what everyone else says and thinks. You do you. I thought about this surgery when I was 20 and I was too scared. I thought about it for years and finally decided when I was 26 and didn't actually get my surgery until this year when I'm 27. I wasted most of my 20s being overweight. I was active, but I could have done so much more. My husband ran a 5k today and I don't know if I'll ever be able to catch up with him. My only regret is not doing it sooner. Yes, you made a major life decision very early in life, but you did what was best for you. Be happy about that. You'll find support and love here and with your friends and family in time. And if it's your friends that are saying this stuff, find some new ones. I wish you all the best dear, don't let the jerks get you down. -
Excess GAS anyone?

Of you're hurting from it, the gas-x strips are excellent. -

Wow! You look amazing. You look younger and happy. Great job! I can't wait to be able to post before and after pictures where I'm actual a normal healthy size. Congrats Sharpie. -
Well I'm only 10 weeks out but so far i haven't had any issues. I still mostly stick to soft foods, chicken, beans, cheese ECT but nothing really bothers me. I can have tiny bits of bread or tortillas but I try to limit that. I've lost 53 lbs since I started the preop diet. The only negative side effect I've noticed so far is that my hair has started shedding a lot more but it was to be expected so I can deal. Good luck with your surgery. I hope you have better results this time around.

You look great! Looks like you're going to need to do some shopping soon.

The endo was the first thing I did. I had mine last June but didn't have my surgery until March.

Ladies, what do you consider your ideal dress size ?
Wallflower7522 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think an 8 would be ideal. I can't imagine i would possible get much smaller than that. -
I feel like mine has gotten really slow. I'm down just over 50lbs but over the past month I've only lost about 12lbs. I know 12lbs a month is still a lot but I was hoping to be around 230 by my trip to 6 flags next month. I'm at 255 now so I don't think I'll make it, but I'm pretty confident I'll at least fit on all the rides.

How about some NSVs!?!?
Wallflower7522 replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here is a big NSV for me, my little garden. I'm going to eat healthy and grow some of what I eat. I don't think I would have ever had the energy or motivation to do this last year. It's small, but I tilled it all by hand so it was a lot of work. I'm not done with it yet, but I've so happy with what I've got done so far. -
85% convinced. How do I get to 100%?
Wallflower7522 replied to Tootles1975's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't think I was 100% ready when I did it, but 90% ready was enough for me. -
February 2014 post op losers
Wallflower7522 replied to kimr's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Has anyone else's weight loss slowed way down? I've only lost 12lbs over the last month. I hope this is normal. I've been working to get more Protein in. I've not been working out because I've been working on getting my garden ready for summer which has been an immense amount of work. My surgery was March 4th, but I thought I'd check in with you February people since it was so early in the month. I started taking bioten a month before surgery and my hair didn't shed nearly as much. But over the last week I've noticed more and more has been shedding. I hope it doesn't get much worse than this. -
I asked for 4, but my doctor said 4-6. MetLife approved 6 so I took it. It was really nice. I was still tired and a little sore at 4 but perfect my 6. I know not everyone has that luxury, but take as much time as you can.

I've been drinking this smooth moves tea a few nights a week. It's with the laxatives at Walgreens. It really really helps to keep things moving along -
Anyone with migraines
Wallflower7522 replied to Georgia Pritchett's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
At one point in my life I used to have a headache every single day and migraines once or twice a month, sometimes more frequently. Not eating has always been a trigger for me, and I was worried about that too. Honestly it didn't bother me after the first few days. I took Tylenol the first week I was on my preop liquid diet and that helped. I've had 3 surgeries in an effort to end my frequent headache and migraines. Two rounds of Lasik/PRK to fix my screwed up vision and now my RNY. I'm at 2 months now and I've only had one migraine and almost no regular headaches. -
Not sure how I feel about this
Wallflower7522 replied to JustWatchMe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've not even secretive about my surgery, but I've certainly not told a ton of people at work. I expected the comments to be nonstop, but it's not been as bad as I thought it would be. Someone I don't know very well yesterday said "oh such and such was saying how you look like you've lost so much weight." And that was a little weird because that means people I don't know where talking about me. I think it's hard to hear compliments sometimes because they can almost feel like an insult to our former selves. They say "Oh you look so good, your face is so much thinner" and you hear "you looked horrible before and had a fat face." Just remember 90% of the time that's not what people are saying. Most people are just genuinely happy for you. -
How about some NSVs!?!?
Wallflower7522 replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a scale victory today but not weight wise. I forgot to weigh myself two days in a row. I normally weigh every day which drives me crazy but I can't help it. I've not worried much about it for the past two days which feels nice. -
Lasik while in mx
Wallflower7522 replied to Lannie2202's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had lasik in the US at TLC. I got a small discount with my health insurance and it ended up being just under $4,000. I did get 2 years free financing so I pay about $160 a month. Somethings I wish I would have known before. You may very well have 20/20 vision after surgery but glasses and contacts usually correct you to better than 20/20 so you may not see as clearly after surgery as you do now. This is something you can get used to, but it takes a while. I had horrendous astigmatism and my lasik didn't correct it all. I had to get a touch up, which my plan covers for life, but you can only do lasik 1 time. The 2nd time they do PRK which is a much harder recovery and a lot more painful. I had horrible migraines before lasik and PRK and now I hardly ever do so for me it was worth it. -
Lasik while in mx
Wallflower7522 replied to Lannie2202's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I don't know if you've had it done yet, but I wouldn't do it if I were you. Lasik is an easy recovery and you would probably physically feel up to it but do you really want to put anymore stress on your immune system? Especially when it comes to your vision. -
You look really great! Sorry you've had a rough time. Hopefully it will be looking up from here.

Yes. I froze all the time before so now it's even worse. I have a fan on my desk at work, and even though I don't turn it on, I can't stand to look at it. One of my friends who had surgery kept a fan on him almost 24/7. He would even go buy one when he went on vacation somewhere to have in his hotel room. Now, 3 years later, he says he's freezing all the time. It almost comical. He wears a jacket all summer long.

Lookin good Blue! You're doing great, congrats.
