It's official-I weigh less than my husband!
Wallflower7522 replied to mitzie46's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats! I would like to reach that goal too. My husband and I go to a lot of concerts. I have been so excited about us being about to buy one tshirt and both wear it. Well, what does he do? He lost 10lbs after my surgery and went down a tshirt size to a small. Maybe I'll get there one day. -
When I was in the early days I really loved the Just Great Stuff powdered peanut butter. Now that I'm further out I just do the real stuff. I really liked the whipped peanut butter and it has a little less sugar. I just eat a little bit on a cracker or two.

How did you first learn about weight loss surgery?
Wallflower7522 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I work for a large company that has very good insurance and tends to bring in a lot of younger people. I probably knew about surgery before I worked here but never thought about it. I started here when I was 19. I'm 27 now, just had my surgery a few months ago. Since we have such good health and disability insurance the surgery is really accessible and common with my coworkers. I can think of at least a dozen people that I actually know have had some form of WLS in the time I've worked here, including 4 of my good friends. I know two more that are in the process. I'm sure there are tons more but those are just the ones I know personally. I feel pretty luckily actually to have so many examples of what to do and a few examples of what not to do. And to also have such awesome disability insurance. -
I was a 12w when I started loosing weight and now I'm down to about a standard 11. I'm only 3 months out but I was thrilled about this part. It was always really hard to find shoes. The only thing that sucks is that a lot of the shoes I did have no longer fit, but at least I get to buy some new ones.

What do you ladies recommend ?
Wallflower7522 replied to tammie30's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did that too but you'll have catheter/folly the first day and then an IV the whole time you're there so you own clothes can be tricky. I did wear pajama shorts after my folly came out. Also, you'll probably have enough pain meds in you to not care -
Why cant you drive after bariatric surgery
Wallflower7522 replied to nx4slim's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was told I could drive once I was 48 hours off pain meds. I drove 6 days after my surgery, just a mile to the store and back and it was horrible uncomfortable. Drove again at day 8 and I was still uncomfortable but I could function. -
Crazy question but i am curious to know if I am the only one...
Wallflower7522 replied to tigerlily14's topic in The Gals' Room
For sure. There was so much I wouldn't do before. I've always been outgoing and never one to let my weight keep me from doing things, or at least that's the persona I put on. Now I'm going to the gym more, talking to people more, dancing more. I'm going to six flags next weekend. Today my husband had to work, and there was a festival going on downtown. I went out and walked around by myself. That's something I know I wouldn't have done before. Good luck on your surgery. Focus on being healthy, and enjoy the "new" you. -

Chapstick Chapstick Chapstick. I took tons of stuff, but didn't need most of it. Toothbrush, hair brush, did I say Chapstick? Maybe some clothes to wear after you catheter out and something comfy to wear home. -

My surgery was about $550. If you're having heart palpations I would contact your doctor. With that being said, I had them too after surgery. My mom, who is an RN, checked me out and I was ok. She said that when you move around after surgery you're rearranged insides can put pressure on your vegus nerve which can drop your change your heart rate. Please contact your doctor and still get checked out though.

How much did you lose in the first few months?
Wallflower7522 replied to sylvielicious's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 months out and 60lbs down as of today. -
weight loss at a stand still
Wallflower7522 replied to RobynPlus2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's normal. You'll loose 10lbs one week and then nothing for 2 weeks. This is true for me 3 months out. I've been working out pretty intensely for the past 2.5 weeks and I gained 5 lbs off the bat. Don't worry, it will come off eventually. Just keep doing what you're suppose to be doing. -
It's happened for me too. I shed constantly. I have long hair but I'm so annoyed having hairs everywhere I'm considering chopping it off.

Informing People You've had WLS /Lap Band
Wallflower7522 replied to UbermenchPosibility's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't try to hide it, but I don't volunteer it either. If someone asks, I'll tell them, but if someone just says "you look nice, or you've lost weight" I just say thanks. I have a friend who tells literally everyone she meets and honesty it gets on my damn nerves because she'll also volunteer that info about me too. Her mom knew I was thinking of having this surgery before even my husband did. -
Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
Wallflower7522 replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Your friend is an ass. You do you girl. You're better off with out her. I have a feeling even if you did try to loose weight via diet and exercise she'd be pissed off about that. -
Abdominal Binder & Band to Gastric Bypass
Wallflower7522 replied to weightlossdiva1234's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had the binder but didn't use it that much once I came home. It was uncomfortable when it pushed into my boobs. I'd recommend a body pillow. It helps to hold it against you when you get up and down. I think it is doable to do it on your own. It was nice to have someone there but I could get up and down on my own when I had to. -
Yay!!!! Congrats. That's such an awesome feeling. I had a Star Wars shirt my hubby bought me for Christmas I felt the same way about. I finally got into it about a week ago, it was super exciting.

I'm doing well. Down 58lbs from my preop diet. I've been hitting the gym hard the past two weeks and I'm building up a lot of strength and stamina.

How bad is it losing your hair?
Wallflower7522 replied to LisaCO's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The anesthesia also contributes to hair loss. My surgery was March 3rd and my hair started shedding a ton about 2 weeks ago. Now it's coming out everywhere all the time, but as others have said it's not something anyone else has noticed. It's a few strands here and there. My hair was pretty thick to begin with so I don't think it will that bad, I hope. -
There may be other threads like this, but I thought I'd start a new one here, so everyone could contribute no matter which surgery you had. One of my big inspirations is looking at everyone's before and after pics. I've spent hours on Instagram looking at people's pics so. I thought others might feel inspired too so if you feel comfortable share your before and after pictures here. I'm only 7 weeks out (RNY) but I'll start. My BFF had surgery a year ago. We went to the zoo two years ago and when we went back this weekend we thought it would be fun to find the picture we took then and take similar ones now. I was at my high weight then, and at my current weight in the 2nd pic. I still have a long way to go obviously, but I was pretty happy with the difference so far.

Before and After pictures
Wallflower7522 replied to Wallflower7522's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Everyone looks so great! This thread is such an inspiration. I went to a party Saturday with people I hadn't seen since well before my surgery March. I got a lot of comments on my weight. It was almost too much but I know people have good intentions but I still have so far to go and I didn't think it was that big of a difference. I looked back through some of my old picture last night and realized I really could tell a huge difference. Here's is my up today before and after pic. I'm so glad I took this step now. I've been going to the gym almost everyday and I feel so much better. From about 305 to 250. Size 3x/24 to an XL 16/18.
