February 2014 post op losers
Wallflower7522 replied to kimr's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks I do! I do have some issue with my blood sugar from time to time but other than that I feel fantastic. I typically work out 3-5 days a week, I do yoga now, in insanely active compared to my previously life. I have no regrets what so ever. -
Impatient hombre wanting to borrow some of your wisdom.

I agree with not buying too much before surgery. I tried a bunch of Protein shakes before and most of them I could not get down after. It's kind of the same with clothes. I thought I'd go through sizes a lot faster than I did. You really don't know how stuff is going to fit your body afterwards, although I suspect this will be a lot easier for guys. I thought I'd have so many more choices I would be easy when I was a normal size, it's not. -
low blood sugar/anxiety

I did the same thing pre-op. If i felt terrible I'd eat a boiled egg or some lunch meat. It's not like you ate a pizza and a birthday cake. I think you'll be ok, just do the best you can. -
February 2014 post op losers

I haven't posted in forever. From a 24 to a 12. I've actually gained some weight recently but not gone up a size. I've been working out a lot and I've added some muscle. -
I I keep thinking I haven't really lost anymore weight since that picture back in August. I lost about 20lbs after that but put about 6 back on. But I can tell I'm a lot smaller now than I was in that picture. I've packed on a bunch of muscle since then. I hate that it messes up the number on the scale but I'm loving how defined my arms and legs are. Don't get me wrong, they're still covered in saggy skin but I have a bunch of muscle too. I'm at a bit over 100lbs lost and I'm currently right at 200lbs. I'm a 12 in bottoms and a m/L on top.

I'm 14 months out and I've been having issues too. I've almost blacked out a few times and I feel like I eat to much sometimes to compensate. I hate feeling like I need to eat every hour but I try to keep it small. Peanut butter, protein bars, nuts, Ect.

Does anyone end up in a bikini? Please be honest!
Wallflower7522 replied to bangbangbarbie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I bought 3 bikinis this year. They're the kind that still cover a lot, but it's still a bikini for the first time ever. I'm just glad the retro high waisted styles are coming back around. -
Will I EVER be able to eat popcorn again?
Wallflower7522 replied to jrp12365's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat it all the time. Started about 3 months out without issue. -
See that is crazy because I was told to never ever chew gum again. I didn't chew it before anyway but it was a no-no for life.

Gastric Bypass Veterans - Get real with me!

I'm 13 months out. I can eat almost anything. If I eat something too sugary I will have dumping. But it's just some intestinal discomfort. I never throw up or have diarrhea. The last few months I've had some issues with milk but if I get lactose free milk I'm ok. My life is pretty normal now I just eat smaller portions, try to watch my carb intake, and go to the gym and yoga. -
I haven't posted in forever but tonight I just needed to vent a little. Since I had my surgery 13 months ago I always though "if I ever get the nirovirus, aka stomach flu, that's probably got to be the worst thing ever." And I was right. Has anyone else dealt with it post op? It started Thursday night with my blood sugar bottoming out. All day yesterday I just felt bloated and my blood sugar keep feeling a tiny bit low. I had an appointment to get a new tattoo and I thought maybe it was just nerves. And then I almost blacked out right on the table when my blood sugar bottomed out. I had to drink about half of a straight up regular doctor pepper which was terrible. I went out with a nurse friend to dinner after, I was feeling a lot better, and she said that a stomach bug was going around. That's the point where it clicked. I felt the same way last time I had it but I had stuff coming out both ends. I don't have anything coming up for going out now because I haven't ate enough for that to happen. The dry heaving started over night and I thought the worst had passed until I got up to take something for my busting head. I'm burning up. So at the point between my blood sugar being in the dumps, I'm sure I'm terribly dehydrated, and I can't even stand up. I'm considering going to the urgent care when they open. Sorry I wrote a book, i usually deal with being sick pretty well but this is a kick in the pants for sure. Any tips or words of encouragement would be appreciated.

Stomach Bug
Wallflower7522 replied to Wallflower7522's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the replies. I'm feeling work down today but better. I've gotten some fluid and food in so I haven't been as dizzy. I did look at it as an opportunity to drop a few pounds so I'm hoping at least some good will come of it. -
I ate it when I was just a few days out too on full liquids. I loved tomato soup before and now I will never ever touch it again I got so burnt out on it lol

I've gained 10lbs the last 4 months. My waist is smaller. My arms are more toned. My legs feel smaller. I've gone from a 14 to a 12. It sucks because I went from 190ish back to the 200s. But I'm happy with what I see in the mirror. I'm happier with how my clothes fit. I'm happier with how my arms and legs look. So I'm going to be ok with it.

Starting My C25K Adventure - Looking for Advice
Wallflower7522 replied to joatsaint's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Don't get bummed out if you can't do it in 9 weeks. I've been trying for almost a year. He longest I've ran straight is half a mile. I've learned I have asthma so that's been a struggle. Sometimes it just takes a while. But I've still done two 5ks and I really enjoyed both. My time is like 43 minutes but when I started it took me 20 minutes to do one mile so im happy. -
Reality Check- I hate my new body
Wallflower7522 replied to Amyllf2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm in my 20s. I've lost 140 lbs and I'm still saggy. My arms and legs are the worst. I go the the gym at least 3 days a week. It won't tighten up your skin. That's just the reality. But you know what going to the gym will do is build muscle. I have a lot of flab but I have a lot of muscle too and it fills out the flab some. I still have bag batwings, and wrinkles. But I've gained almost 10lbs the past few months but my body is still shrinking so I know I'm adding muscle. Here's my point. You can't control how flabby you'll be and everyone is different. But you can still work on your body and get strong, and fast and build muscle. It's far from perfect but I'm proud of what I've got. -
Does anyone else have an exercise peak?
Wallflower7522 replied to Faithluvhope84's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Mornings all the way. It sucks until you get used to it, and then it still sucks but I have a routine and that's the only way I can get it done. It's not too bad when I don't have to be at work until 9 but today I have to be there at 7 which is why I'm up at 430 writing this. I should already be on my way to the gym. -

Sports Bras? Suggestions..........
Wallflower7522 replied to CheleLynn45's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I wouldn't invest a lot of money now. You'll run through them quickly. I bought an expensive lane Bryant one and couldn't wear it for very long. I'm only like a d/dd on top but old navy sports bras aren't bad for me. You don't have to pull them over your head though now that I'm about at lowest weight I might invest In a VS sports bra. -

My 6 month surgiversary was on the 3rd but I hit the 100lb mark yesterday from my preop weight. Now, unfortunately the last 8lbs was from some serious dehydration from being sick (not surgery related) and I expect some of it to come back, but I figured I'm sick and miserable so I might as well Celebrate what I can. I'm down from a 24 bottom 3x top to a 14 and L tops. I actually bought my first medium at old navy last night! At this point I have no regrets. This has been the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Just take your time. Walk a bit when you can. My surgery was at the beginning of March I didn't start working out on a regular basis until mid May and even then it took a while. Be careful when you start more intense workouts. About 6 months out I started having issues with my blood sugar dropping so make sure you eat a tiny bit before you work out or have some juice or something with you. Now I get in about 3 miles each morning at the gym and at least 10k steps a day. I also do weigh training a couple of days a week.

I like Asics too but if you're really having issues go get professionally fitted at a running store. You'll probably pay a bit more but it will be worth it.
