You look great!!!!!! My weight loss has been painfully slow the past two weeks. I've been back at work and I've been so tired when I get home that I haven't been doing a lot of working out. But I've still lost inches. I bought a shirt at old navy two weekends ago and it was super tight and I tired it on this morning and it fit perfect. My plan for the next two weeks is to get more protein in. I'm working out by tilling my garden by hand. I joined planet fitness this weekend but it doesn't open for two more weeks.

    bypass expectations

I had my surgery March 4th. I haven't had any issues with dumping. I'm still tired sometimes, but I can deal. If I absolutely had to, I could have gone back to work after two weeks.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I love this thread! I think I've lost a shoe size. I've always worn a 11w or a 12. I've never just been able to buy shoes. I always have to find wide sizes, or some place that carries a 12 and they're aren't many. Today on a whim, I tried on a regular 11 and they actually fit! I wanted to buy every pair in the store, but I stopped myself at 1.

    Slow weight loss

Mine was March 4th I've lost 33lb since day of surgery not including what I lost on my liquid diet. So it sounds like I'm just a bit ahead of you. My weight loss has slowed down a lot the past week or two. It's just going to take time. If sounds like you're doing good. Of course I wish I was losing 1-2 lbs a day, but I know it will happen eventually. Also remember the smaller you are, the slower you're going to loose. I see your starting weight was 265, mine was 291. Most of the people who loose 40-50lbs a month like you see on TV have much higher starting weights.
  6. I haven't had any issues with it. I'm almost two months out. Even during the liquid phase, it was liquid but completely controllable. I actually have the opposite problem now and have to drink some Smooth Moves tea a few nights a week to keep things moving along.
  7. Nope. They should only be told that your leave is approved and for what dates. None of your medical info should be disclosed.

What I let grief do to me.

I was really worried about telling my best friend. She is very self conscious about her weight( who isn't). We both have always been heavy but she lost quite a bit of weight and then started gaining it back. I didn't give her enough credit though, she has been very supportive. She even gave me a bunch of her smaller clothes.

    Fmla

I took 6 weeks of short term and was also approved for FMLA during this time. I didn't have to tell my employer anything other than I was going to be on short term. All of our HR is handled off site and short term/FMLA claims are handled by MetLife. My manager also had WLS so I told her early on.

Give your opinion to tell or not

I told my close friends at work and my boss who had lap band surgery. But I kept it really quite. So far it's worked out really well. I think most people know, but have also figured out I don't really want to talk about it. People that I didn't tell have just asked me how I'm doing and i tell them I'm doing well.

Have any of you had to give yourself a b12 injection yet? I'm sitting here staring down the needle. I think I'm gonna wait for my hubby to get home from work and make him do it.

Congrats! You look great. I should have taken more before pictures like this.

    Approved!

Congrats. They'll do an EKG, chest X-ray, UA, and chest X-ray at the hospital. They only thing that would stop you now is if they found a health issue that was previously unknown that would hinder your surgery. I would say if you feel well, not sick or congested ECT, and you're not pregnant you're probably good to go! There's always a chance they could find something, but I wouldn't stress to much about it.

    smoking?

Do you have a vape shop near you? My friends run one. They offer all their flavors in different levels of nicotine so you can step down your nicotine levels gradually.

    I feel so selfish...

It sounds like you're feeling exactly how I felt. When I actually schedule my surgery I thought "I'm not going to sleep for the next month" My neves calmed down as it go closer. I don't blame you for being a bit annoyed at the delay. My final appointment with my surgeon was on the 8th and the office didn't send my paper work until the 22nd. I was more than a little annoyed.

    Hitting the wall?

I'm a month out today and I've been trying to get out to the park to walk almost every day. I've only been getting about a mile in and by the time I'm done with that I feel like I've pushed myself through an intense workout. I have to immediately go home and lay down and I usually feel dizzy. For comparison, last summer I did an 18 mile bike trail and I didn't feel this bad afterwards. So being a month out I'm not getting in hardly any carbs, not enough Protein, and I'm still struggling with Water. Should I maybe try to "carb load" before I work out? Obviously I don't mean a bowl of Pasta, but maybe some juice?
  22. If I absolutely had to, I could have gone back at 2. But at two weeks I was still having some pain sitting up straight for long periods of time. I took 6 weeks, but I'm lucky my company has a generous disability plan.

    Unjury strawberry?

Mmmm this sounds like a good excuse to buy the ice cream maker to go with my kitchen aid mixer. She (my kitchen aid) hasn't gotten much play time since my surgery.

    Tips for a newbie runner

Hey! I'm from Tennessee too. Upper East TN, almost in Virginia to be specific. And yes, the hills can be killer. I've not done stationary biking but I would assume it would help build your resistance. We have to drive an hour for the Creeper trail but it's so worth it. Take your bike to a shop and see if they can fix it up for you. Even if some of the parts are rusted they can probably rebuilt it for you. I felt like i was too big to ride too, but I'm so glad i did. I'm still a little self conscious but it's what I enjoy doing.

    Tips for a newbie runner

I started biking about two years ago. I love it! Do you have a bike? If you don't buy yourself a good one. You don't have to spend a grand, but don't go buy one that cost $50 at Walmart. I bought a beach bike and hated it, it's rusting in my shed. I rode it like three times and then had to buy a new one. Mine was only about $200 but it's very sturdy. It's a Schwinn Comfort bike. I would highly suggest a comfort bikes. You can do on road or mild trail biking. What they say about riding a bike is true, you don't forget. Once you get out somewhere flat, just go and you'll pick it back up. After you get comfortable stopping, make sure your seat is up high enough that your just touch the ground with the tips of your toes. Do you you know if you have any "rail to trail" trails in your area? We have a beautiful one, The Virginia Creeper trail, that is amazing. It's all down hill so it's an easy ride. I will tell you when I have to ride up hill or do a harder ride, I sometimes feel like I'm dying but like anything else, you just have to build up your resistance. I've crashed a few times, but that's part of it. Good luck!
