What's the skinny on the skin?
darneka1 replied to Kateness777's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kateness777, I would try not to worry about loose skin. If someone can't accept you or love you for you loose skin, then perhaps they don't need to be in your life. The surgery is a tool to help you have a healthier life as well as secondary benefits such as improved self esteem. You need to try hard to love the new you that will develop when your procedure occurs. I am 29 years old, and yes I want to look good but loose skin is not plaguing my mind. I hope that the issue wont prevent you from doing the surgery. Stay positive and try the tips these great ladies passed on to you. -

Unfortunately, there is no way of making clear liquids better. How much longer do you have on the clear liquids? Are you drinking shakes?

You are not alone. I am so glad you posted this topic. I am scheduled on April 24 and have been on the fence. Questioning if I should go forward. I have to do this surgery. Anything worth taking a risk will cause some doubt. Hang in there...be strong -
When Will I Have A Decent Meal Again
darneka1 replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey CurvyCakes, I have a similar rule in my house as well. No one is to eat around me. I have my husband feeding the kids before I get home from work. My husband had gastric bypass in nov 2013 so we drink our shakes together. Hang in there your surgery is right around the corner. Hey Kelly. So how was it right after surgery how did u feel and how r u doing now? I laughed bout ur hubby and the steak because I have a strict rule since our daughter and myself can't eat from being on this liquid diet then no eating cooking or bringing foods in this house until this part is over. My husband and son are about to lose their minds as they LITTERALLY eaten out everyday since we started. I know it sounds harsh but the temptation or to only be able to drink liquids while the others are chomping down on regular food is just too much to ask. Lol. Monday will not come fast enough -

Where are all my April 23 surgery partners!
darneka1 replied to msshellg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not april 23 but close enough. My surgery is on the 24th. I want to wish you luck!!! I am getting excited as well because its right around the corner. -
I was wondering if anyone had this experience shortly before surgery. I have been on my pre-op diet for about 5 days now. My cycle (menstrual) usually starts around this time. I know I am not pregnant as my husband is sterile. Has anybody experienced irregularities during their pre-op? I know some people experience irregularities after surgery. I am assuming my irregularity could be due to my recent/drastic diet change. I am on strict liquids, no food-per doctor’s order.

Which bariatric advantage powder tastes best?
darneka1 replied to Erin414's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I had to choose, I prefer the Chocolate but warm. I cant stand it cold. I like adding crystal light to the vanilla flavor. I hate the shakes from Bariatric Advantage but have to use that brand for Pre-op diet. After surgery, I am scooting over to another shake. -
pre-op and starving!
darneka1 replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends on the person because I am constipated as well. I am lucky if I go within the next few days. -
pre-op and starving!
darneka1 replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the same boat!! I am starving...on top of it everyone is the office where I work is eating pizza today. It helps to see that I am not the only person struggling. I keep telling myself to see the end result and that it will be over soon enough. Just take one day at a time and don't look so much at the total number of days you have to do it. It can be overwhelming. -

Anyone having the sleeve in april?!
darneka1 replied to jacquelynndiaz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am excited to finally be able to say my surgery is this month. My procedure is schedule April 24th. It was originally scheduled for March 13th but do to finances, I had to push my date back. I start my liquid diet on April 10th (next week!!) and I a little nervous as to how that will be. I find myself doing a great deal of reflection over what will happen/ how I will feel after the procedure is done. I am excited to hear about so many others who are getting the sleeve done in April. Good luck everyone! -
I got approved for my Gastric Sleeve procedure by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia in January. I called my insurance to confirm the details of my deductible and out of pocket amounts. I had an interesting conversation with the customer service agent. My individual deductible is $350 and my out of pocket maximum is $2890.00 ($350 of that amount is the deductible). My plan covers the Gastric Sleeve at 80% and I am responsible for 20%. My confusion is that the financial coordinator for my surgeon states I have to pay $2890.00 at the date of my surgical interview (happens about 3 days prior to surgery) but my insurance states that the procedure can happen after I pay the deductible which is $350.00. and that I would essentially be responsible for 20% of the procedure once it was completed as the amount would be unknown until after it was done. My confusion is why am I paying the full $2890.00 before I have the procedure if my insurance states they would pay for the procedure after the $350.00 is paid. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice or clarification would be appreciated. I hate insurance...so confusing..
