Return to Work from Home
auntiemel replied to sleeveplease's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What company do you work for? I'm interested! I work at home already, but things are only getting worse with the company, so I am looking???? -
I love my nieces and nephews like they are my own! I am proud and excited every time I hear them say Auntie Mel. I hope one day to have kids and hear mommy ????

Anyone tried won ton wrappers?
auntiemel replied to DarthVixen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made pizza with them. One wrapper with four pieces of turkey pepperoni, cheese, and sauce was plenty! I made two the first time and ended up feeding the other one to my sister. -
I love the black tea with lemon! Mix it with half regular tea or just drink it over ice! It tastes like the Lipton or snapple packets. So glad my nut recommended it. I have tried the alpine punch before but couldn't stand it so I was hesitant to get this one, but it's amazing!

First bad day post op
auntiemel replied to happymama2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your doc for Prilosec or nexium. Our tummies are still producing more acid than they need. My doc said I will be on them for at least 3 months. -
Fluer De Liz-What does it do?
auntiemel replied to bayareanan's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Shoot! I'm gonna need my boobs done, stomach, thighs, arms, and butt! I need to start saving! -
I tried a mini bite size snickers on Halloween and it just wasn't satisfying anymore. I would rather have fruits and veggies over candy. I have had a bite of licorice and it was too sweet too! My sweet tooth seems to have disappeared with the stomach they cut out. Oh well lol So weird to think how much sugar I used to eat. Now the most I get is from fruit or juice.

6weeks post op
auntiemel replied to 1Sleevecomingup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not looking at others weight loss..well I'm really trying hard not to... Stalls happen, and I'm 7 weeks on Monday, down 32 pounds, but I've seen others down 50 already! I'm just trying to focus on the fact that this is 32 lbs Iost! I've only ever lost 10 or 15 and gained back double. Our hormones are also out of whack with all the estrogen releasing from our fat cells, so don't be discouraged or sad! I have no friends either, just my hubby, mom, and three sisters. It can be lonely, but all the girlfriends I've had have stabbed me in the back and my sisters wouldn't do that...granted we can fight and argue with the best of them, but we always have each other's backs. -
I just made egg salad with plain fage Greek yogurt! Extra Protein and better for you than mayo (plus I hate mayo lol)

32 lbs down since 9/22
auntiemel replied to auntiemel's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Woohoo @@BLERDgirl I find eating is such a pain! I try to get my fluids and Protein in, but I'm still not eating a lot. -
I did my weekly weigh in this morning (naked of course lol) and am at 280.8, which means I'm down 32 lbs since 9/22/14 and down a total of 56.2 lbs from my high weight! That is incredible for me! I know many lose faster, or are on liquids/purees longer which can make weight loss go faster, but I am so happy and proud of myself!

My sleeve is such a meanie!
auntiemel replied to Melissayw816's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't eat frosted flakes after surgery...we are supposed to be eating healthy and putting in nutritious food...our tiny tummys only hold so much now -
What size is your sleeve?
auntiemel replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The bougie is a tube to help guide the surgeon during surgery. My doc said that without it, some have actually had their stomachs cut in half!!! Eek! The bougie tubes used may vary in size, but a surgeon using a 40 bougie could very well end up making a sleeve the same size as someone who uses a 32 bougie. It really is the surgeon not the tube. -
Glad to help! I love my sleeve...the first few weeks aren't the greatest, but that's how it is with any surgery. Keep us posted on your journey! I'm excited for you!

Does anyone else hate the way they feel after they eat
auntiemel replied to Momma_D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've lost my love of food! It feels like a chore to eat and I only want to eat mushy stuff and drink water/tea/protein all day. It will pass, but at least I'm not a huge food addict anymore. Now I think of what is healthier to put in my tiny tummy and what will give me the most bang for my buck so to speak. -
RNY was too much for me to handle! Having a blind stomach that could perforate if a medic or doctor tried to scope me...no thanks. Having my intestines moved around kinda really grosses me out. I figured cutting out a hunk of my stomach and leaving the rest where it was made to be was my best option. I had reflux but that was fixed with my hiatal hernia repair. There is a 1% chance of leaks with the sleeve and most are from eating and doing what you aren't supposed to. You can't modify bypass, but you can modify a sleeve. The stretchy part of the stomach is removed with sleeve, and let me tell you, there is a huge difference in eating after you get to solid foods. I am an overeater! Even if it was heathy I ate too much. Now I can barely finish a few bites of chicken or a taco, granted I am only 6 weeks out, almost 7.

Goal weight and family negative family members
auntiemel posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My goal weight is 150 or maybe even lower. I am only 5'4 and that would put me in a normal BMI range. I told my sister my goal weight and she said that that is ridiculous and too skinny! For me, it is what I am striving for, but I'm wondering if she is just jealous, as then I would no longer be the "biggest sister" out of us 4 girls. Whenever her and I get into an argument I can guarantee that she will say something about my weight, and if I get to be less than her, I think she will have issues with it. I'm not sure what her weight is, but it is over 200. She was telling me I should make my goal 250!!!!!????? Well if that was my goal, I wouldn't have even had surgery. The whole thing frustrates me to no end!!!! -
What meds are you on? I can't take Percocet at all or I get flushed and start vomiting. I was on dilaudid for post op pain.

My body feels awful...
auntiemel replied to Overcomer_Rev1211's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been having body aches the last two days and after some Isopure tea, b12, and a multi vitamin I'm feeling better. I really think it was the b12! -
@@Pat-rice Talk to your nut and surgeon. I was able to take anything as small as a baby aspirin after 3 days, but as we know, most of the pills we take are horse pills lol. I was able to take them after 4 weeks

I put a second comforter on my bed today. I am so cold. Right now I have on a tank top, a pullover hoodie shirt and a jacket. Not much fits anymore so I have to make do with what fits. I'm 6 weeks out today and down 27.3 lbs from surgery and a total from my high weight of 50

Sleeve vs Bypass
auntiemel replied to Chocolate Butterfly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will feel so full after so little food lol...I was part of the clean plate club and ate second helpings, now I give away my extra food. I'm only 6 weeks out and it's amazing! -
My body feels awful...
auntiemel replied to Overcomer_Rev1211's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can no longer drink thick Protein shakes. They make me gag lol My nut recommended Isopure, I tried the alpine punch before and hated it, but I got the black tea with lemon and mix it half and half with regular iced tea and it's amazing! Tastes like Lipton iced tea packets. -
