What happened to the Duodenal Switch forums?
auntiemel replied to dsdesigna's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The VSG is usually the first stage to DS, I was told by one gal she can eat whatever she wants, usually over 3000 calories a day since she doesn't absorb a lot. To me that seems unhealthy. Could it be what is being eaten? -
We will have to keep in touch!

What happened to the Duodenal Switch forums?

DS is the gastric sleeve with rerouting of your duodenum, so it causes malabsorption. You could certainly eat garbage and lose weight with DS as I've seen others post, but that still wouldn't be good for your body. DS has a very high rate of malabsorption of nutrients and many are on vitamins/supplements besides just a Multivitamin, Vitamin d, Calcium and b12. Which are Vitamins have taken for years. How is your eating any different with DS? You still have the same size stomach, right? -

Interesting...I've never thought of pumpkin in a savory way before. Sounds like something to try for thanksgiving. I should put this on my to-do. Thanks

Gallbladder and liver I suppose. At least that's what they looked at on mine

I'm asking for anyone here that has found any that fit low carb pre-op diets and are decent. I haven't found that many decent ones or I wouldn't have asked.
-
I know this may sound strange, but I've been on my low carb pre-op diet a week today, and I have some body aches and I'm wondering if anyone else has/had them as well?

My throat was on fire after the endoscopy and I slept the day away after. I'm not going with that surgeon anymore, but it felt like my throat was raw

Not losing weight on PreOp diet
auntiemel replied to Change it up's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't notice a change on the scale until day 5...but of course I go super low carb and then miraculously have a period! I hope that after surgery I have tons of babies lol -
How to expand my sleeve a bit? It's too tight!
auntiemel replied to baby_angel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I asked my surgeon about bougie sizes and he said they are more or less a guideline to prevent cutting the wrong areas. He has heard of surgeons actually cutting the stomach in half...how awful would that be! He also said that whether it is a 40 or 34 or whatnot it won't be that exact size and a surgeon who uses a 30 could staple the same as a 40. I would talk to your doc...and honestly from everything I have read on here...you are still swollen -

Alternative to Ghiradellis White Chocolate Powder
auntiemel posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was trying to find alternatives to the white chocolate powder I used to use...oh my goodness the Ghiradellis has 28 grams of carbs in 3 tablespoons and I can only imagine that there was probably more put in my coffees at the espresso stand...that's ALOT! I was browsing online and found a small company in Montana called 5sparrows has a white chocolate powder made with stevia and xylitol...it has 7 grams of carbs and all you need is a tablespoon (1 serving size). It tastes amazing! No weird aftertaste. http://www.5sparrowsbrand.com/zero-sugar-house-white-chocolate-10-oz/
