Hi all,
my name is Kate and I am 41 years old.
I have suffered with my weight since childhhod, when I was told it was "puppy fat"!!
All these years on and still it hadn't gone away!
I suffer with several disabilities and my husband is my full time carer; every time he lifts or transfers me or pushes my wheelchair, I feel guilty for being so heavy. (.not that he allows me to be guilty too long :-)
My biggest concern, apart from my disabilities is being unable to exercise, so being a sitting target for nadties such as diabetes and heart disease.
After many years of doctors telling me that I "may" benefit from losing weight and after trying every trick in the book, every diet going, I finally met a lovely locum GP who suggested looking st surgery.
That moment in May 2012 was the start of this journey; finally I have been referred for surgery and have it on 13th January 2014, having opted for the gastric bypass.
I am currently on day 3 of my pre-op liver diet, drinking slimfast and am surprised to find that, so far anyway, I am coping well.
I am in the very lucky position of having a wonderful hubby and 17 year old daughter, who are always here for me and support me through every aspect of my life.
The biggest concern I have post op is the excess skin that I may have, as I cannot ( and will not) be able to exercise.
I have started using a slendertone machine that I hope will assist with this, but other than thst, I am excited to join the 'losers bench'.
Thanks for reading my story so far.....
