    Calories!

Hi all I know we're all at different stages and we're all going to consume various foods but I am curious about calories! As a band to sleeve revision patient and now 6ish weeks out, I am getting those horrible 'OMG am I going to succeed? Is my sleeve tight and small enough? Am I eating way more than everyone else?' thoughts...... I've started tracking calories and I generally have around 800-1000 calories but I feel like it's quite easy to get up to 1000. At weeks 2-4 I struggled A LOT with foods and just didn't really have the drive to watch my food intake and protein. Now, I feel like my hunger is coming back and that freaks me out. No heartburn or anything, and I've had my 40 grams of Somac on a daily basis, but I KNOW I feel hunger. I just get in a bit of a negative headspace and worry that the sleeve won't be 'viable' for me. I am very determined, yet am at a stall. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to know what you guys typically eat in a day too! THANKS

    Calories!

Awesome thanks @ I need to try and squeeze heaps of Protein in for sure. Will take your ideas and have a go..

    Calories!

@ Do you manage a lot of protein? I just can't imagine eating all protein, ugh, I know I have to but I love chicken - yes - however I can't sit and eat it all day. Lol. I love eggs, cheeses and mince too but I never eat so much that I am over 60g of protein.

    Calories!

What is your Protein target? 60 grams is in the low side. (My target is 100 grams.) If you aren't even getting in 60 then you are really low. 2 Premier Protein shakes will give you 60 grams at least. In Australia I don't believe we have Premier shakes....I just can't take any of my protein powders now!!! It sucks. I have to eat a solid Breakfast, such as an egg with some toast (my nut recommended this, and is not against carbs at all) because if I do a Protein shake or even yoghurt, it goes straight through me! It's so horrible....but thanks for the tips!!

    Calories!

Thanks guys - I definitely have 800-1000 calories of real food. Maybe a few too many carbs, not sure, but definitely not junk. Just wish I could get in more protein! I try for 60g but it can be hard
  6. I usually eat 1/2 a cup at 6 weeks out.

    Calories!

So awesome!! Good on you. Wow, I can't wait for size 12. Yooo hooo!! That's the thing though, I feel like the sleeve is 'easy' - like it's just too good to be true haha....I am pretty good with most foods (chicken took me a little bit to get used to) so it's the complete opposite of the band. I associate that pain and torture with weight loss....so I feel like the sleeve is going to 'fail me'. Such a head f****.... How do you go with 'treating' yourself? I always battle with myself over carbs and things like that. Grr

    Calories!

Thank you! I have been meaning to message you. I think I should also focus on more Water, as I tend to forget it, and I also want to take a chewable Gaviscon or something like when those pangs hit. It's a weird 'hollow' feeling - but I assume it is hunger. I get a bit confused!!! How is your journey going?! I am pleased so far, but very cautious as I just want to see my results before I get too excited haha.

Slower weight loss second time around?

I am stalling now but I hope by three months I've lost a good amount of weight, and then by 6 I hope I am near the goal weight I have set myself!! Six weeks out now...

    Hungryyyyyyyy

I feel hungry!! I am 6 weeks out and worried because I can't tell if it's simply dehydration or if I am just actually hungry....I feel 'empty' and hungry, but I HATE feeling that way.....ughhhh

    Explosive Bowel

I did and still do some mornings with the slider stuff like yogurt and cereal. I am 6 weeks out and the sensitivity has eased up - but I am sure once you start on more firmer foods, it will help. Eggs were quite 'rich' for me but are now totally OK. It just takes your tummy some getting used to. It's a hard process though and I had difficult days

    Random Thought/Question

My doctor is all about balance as long as I do proteen first, veggies second, whole grains last. As far as portion size? I've lived here all my life so these ridiculous portions seem normal. I do think that's a huge reason so many Americans are obese. At my favorite market, I can buy a delicious olive oil and garlic white pizzza for $10. It's 20" across and even cut into ten slices, each piece is bigger than my face. My family of four can't finish it over two meals (well, now that I'm sleeved -- before I'da finished that off if it killed me). It's ridiculous. Australia is the opposite - lol I swear you go and pay $20+ for a meal and it's tiny at a restaurant! I went to LA in 2010 and was amazed at the food! Cheap and HUGE. It was crazy but I had a lapband at the time, so no fun for me haha. I remember my Mum had the cheesy bacon fries from Universal Studios, and it made me gag. Ewwwww.....but that Cinnebun place (not sure of spelling) YUM! haha..... Even the Cereal aisle in the USA is about 30000 times bigger than Australia. I was in awe

    Today. Was. Rough.

I had this exact same experience in July!! I was 9 days out and we had a 30th for my husband too - I had nothing at all, naturally, and was sipping water. I found it OK though, weirdly enough....but I was in a bit of pain from the gas.

    Random Thought/Question

I agree with you there.... not having forbidden foods really helps take the pressure off... i feel it teaches you to make good choices for yourself, not having someone dictate them for you. I feel that if i was told you are never to have x,y,z.. i would probably rebel and crave it so much more... but this way i know i can have it in moderation but CHOOSE not to.... that is exactly what i need to make a long term lifestyle change.... this is for life, and sometimes in life you will want a small piece of cake or a bread roll... denying myself or completely eliminating an entire food or food group is not healthy in my opinion (psychologically).. that for me would bea set up for failure.. i would feel deprived! Well said! It's funny, I always thought when I got pregnant (before surgery) that I would gain a ton of weight because I could have an excuse to binge... I'm eating for two, it's pregnancy cravings, the baby wants it, etc.. I only gained 25 pounds (a perfectly healthy amount), and it's because I basically gave myself permission to eat whatever I wanted without guilt, and the need to binge was suddenly gone. After the pregnancy when I needed to get back on the wagon, I started bingeing again, put on 40 more pounds, and then obviously got the sleeve. My point to that long story, is that the same feeling of giving myself permission to "cure" my binge eating that I had while I was pregnant is how I feel now (I'm almost a year post op). Food doesn't equal stress. Life is so much better when I'm not OBSESSED with food! The thing that I remember, so that I don't feel regret and guilt if I DO make a bad choice, is that if we were all sooooooooooooooo perfect and had 'forbidden' foods, then surely we would have been so 'on track' in life that we wouldn't have been obese at one stage. I think it's fab that some people have 'forbidden' foods, but I do notice some will mention that they don't have carbs, they'd never touch bread and something like a cracker is just out of the question. I just do not have this approach and maybe it's because I am not perfect, and I feel that eating a balanced diet is key to my happiness and weight loss. Also, some people's forbidden foods are on my list of what to eat to be healthy, from my nut and surgeon! Australia, where I am, seems to be much more relaxed in the food plan area than US surgeons. Not sure why I think that, but just really from what I have read here. My nut messages me to say no, of course you shouldn't avoid carbs, just do Protein first.

    The dreaded first stall...

Same boat here - op was July 7. It's so upsetting!!! But just have to persist
  16. I am 5 weeks out and at 23 pounds down, roughly. I am in a major stall and getting all upset but I need to just keep persisting! Good luck too!
  17. missblonde20

    Cheese itz?

I am allowed crackers and I eat them! I don't demonise them or carbs
  18. missblonde20

    4 months out

    So good!! Yay for you
  19. missblonde20

    3 meals a day only?

I was told you end up doing 3 meals once you can eat more than what you can eat a few weeks/months after the op. So currently, I am 4 weeks in, and of course I eat little mini meals, so therefore I need to snack lol so my surgeon is pro 5-6 small meals, and then 3 meals when you can stomach more.

    Two week post op food

    Always Hungry!

I am like this 4 weeks out and I think it's me not eating enough? Ughhhh
  22. Hi guys! Nearly 4 weeks out from my sleeve, and I just feel a bit lost! I sort of feel like I need to consume more ( I am on mushy foods and have to slowly progress to soft, then normal foods) but I can't be bothered cooking, and I just look at the kitchen and think, ugh, too much hassle! I cook for my family and don't mind that, but I feel like I just can't be bothered playing around with consistency etc of my own food. So I have been sticking to Protein shakes, yoghurt, eggs and stuff like that, but it's boring me... Sort of wish I could just eat normal foods, at smaller quantities. Any tips? P.S I am finding hunger pangs are striking! I know I need to drink more Water, and I also feel like because food seems too 'hard' I am not getting enough in.....

    Feel a bit lost?

    Thanks!!!

    Feel a bit lost?

Thanks guys - good ideas! I bought ricotta to do the bake and then got lazy - oops...I bet it's gone off in my fridge. I will definitely have to find some decent meals that I enjoy. .Right now all I want is my cup of tea - but I know protein is required

    Can't get protein in

My nut really hasn't pushed protein in these early stages - my booklet says 60g when I start eating proper foods, but nobody has pressed the issue with me. I am nearly 4 weeks out and getting nowhere near 60!! Maybe it's an Australian thing, lol, but honestly, we aren't pressured too much in the early stages to get high numbers in of protein etc. We also don't have the vast array of products that Americans have - I am so jealous!!!! Lots of our foods aren't sugarfree like in the USA too! I just read about all of your goodies and get so jealous
