  1. Does anyone have a copy of the pre-op diet? I have to lose 6 pounds before surgery or he will cancel surgery. The pre-op diet wasn't required, but I believe it is the best thing for me to follow to make it happen. I am scared to death that he will cancel on me. No shots or filter though.

    Day 4, home

I'm sorry to hear you are hurting, but I hope it passes swiftly!
  4. I am a 41 year old wife and mother and I am currently scheduled to have the sleeve done on 12/19/14. I am concerned that I should go ahead and do the bypass due to the amount of weight I need to lose (120+) and the comorbidities I am currently battling. I have diabetes (type 2), HBP, cholesterol issues and sleep apnea. I have a call in to my doctor to see what he recommends, but I wanted to also ask my peers. If it were you, what would you do?

    I GOT A DATE!

Congratulations and good luck to you in your journey!
  6. I have to admit I am really looking forward to this Thanksgiving. My surgery is December 19th and I will be on my liquid diet for Christmas, so this is my last "big" meal with family. I should start my preop diet on 12/5. Good luck to you and Happy Thanksgiving!

    Pre-Op Diet

How is everyone doing in the pre op diet? I will be officially starting mine 12/4. It's getting so real now!
  10. I am having surgery on December 19th, and I have put myself on a self imposed mini liquid diet until my preop appointment on 12/4. I had to reschedule my surgery and feel back into a few bad habits when I lost me job. Now it's rescheduled so I am trying to lose a few pounds.
  11. Just talked to the doctor this morning and we decided the RNY is the best option for me. Surgery date is 12/19 and I am ready to go!

    RNY December 14'

    December 19th for me!
  13. My doctor stated that since I have type 2 diabetes and other comorbidities including GERD, that I will be happier in the end with the decision to go with rny.
  14. I talked to the doctors office this morning, and it is official. I have switched from the Sleeve to the RnY.

    anyone getting sleeved in DECEMBER?

@@Megan00 - I am considering switching for multiple reasons including my comorbidities and the need for the increased speed of weight loss. I am also scared that since the sleeve doesn't really put any restrictions on WHAT you can eat after surgery I am going to fall back into old habits. Long story, but I have a call in to the doctor to get his opinion.
  16. I guess my concern is the recovery time, I was expecting 2 weeks for the sleeve. Is the recovery time for the bypass the same? I have my surgery so carefully planned out around work...
  17. You are all making valid points, and the fact that I feel sugar is my huge downfall I believe I am going to end up with the bypass. I crave buttercream icing... sad, I know. I need the curbing factor too.
  18. I am on the cheap side, so I don't like to buy premade shakes. I have found that the blender and the shaker cup add quite a bit of air to the shake. Anyone have issues with this post op?
  19. Ugh, why is this decision so hard? Just put in a call to the doctor today to see what he recommends. I need to know now, so that if I decide to change my mind we can get the insurance approval switched. Anyone in the same situation? What made you decide between the sleeve and the rny? Thanks in advance for your assistance! Kelly O!
  20. I am getting so excited that I am finally going to get the surgery done. For years I talked myself out of it, and then my ex husband refused to allow me to do it. "I would get skinny and not want him anymore." Now, I am at a good point in my life and I am scheduled for the surgery 12/19/14. Here's my issue: I was originally scheduled for the surgery on 9/2/14, however I unexpectedly lost my job on 7/1/14. Due to finances, my hubby and I decided to cancel the surgery, and honestly I wasn't sure I would be able to do it - EVER. However, I was able to find a job that is willing to work with me and the time off I will need after surgery to recover. When I started the program, I did everything just like I was supposed to, drinking habits, slower eating, cut out soda and I even lost about 20 pounds. When I had to cancel everything, I went back to old habits and gained all of that back... I am so mad at myself. I am afraid the surgeon is going to tell me we can't do it now... I am working diligently to reestablish the new habits and I am determined, so I know all will work out okay. I hope you all are having a good day! Kelly

    Surgery Date-January 8, 2015

Congratulations on getting a date! Mine is in December, not too much earlier.
  24. I am a 40 year old wife and mother weighing 294 with a BMI of 48.9. I have several comorbidities including diabetes and high blood pressure. I have Anthem BCBS insurance and my oop seems to be about $1100 not including copays for all of the visits. So, I just found out about the VSG option about 3 months ago when a friend from high school had one done. I had thought about RNY but talked myself out of it several times due to number of complications. My husband, his mother and father have all had the RNY and it was successful, yet I was hesitant. In researching the Sleeve, I feel confident that this is the way I want to go. I have chosen the program I want to go through, I have a case number assigned with my insurance, I have met with my general practitioner to talk to him about my decision. I just sent in the evaluation appointment request forms today, so now I wait to hear from the Bariatric Program. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. I don't like subjecting myself to surgery, but I feel this is exactly the tool I need to better my life. I haven't told many people as of right now, simply because I know how most people around me feel about WLS and I don't need the tension. I have been lurking on the boards for about a week and I thought it was about time I posted something. I look forward to getting to know all of you and thank you in advance for the multitude of questions you will answer as I work through this process. Kelly
