    1st fill have questions

Kat817, Your posting is from like last year hope you are still on or that someone else can help me. I had my surgery Aug.8,2007. (8 days ago) I take that no restriction means you can eat anything. My doc. said I don't have any fill yet. I don't go back for my 1st visit for 6 weeks. He said at that time he would then do the fill if I needed it & said that some people don't need them for awhile. But when I went to my seminar I remember them saying I would only be able to eat 2 oz. per meal. Is that what you are to eat 4 ever? I'm sitting here wondering how you can eat hardly anything. That would be like 1 tsp. of each thing wouldn't it? I'm still on full liquids & starving to death. In a day I have 2 protein shakes, some sf jello, tom. soup, broth & sf popsicles & then liquids. Can you think of anything else to help me? I have 1 more week of this before I go to mushy food.

What kind of strainer did you get. All I have is those big ones that you do like your spaghetti in.

Thanks, so how are you getting along?
  6. Miss Darlene, I really didn't ask for any. I am allergic to morpheine so that was a def. no. They gave me a pain ball. Never heard of that either. It looks like a min. bowling ball & it had a strap so you could carry it with you or as they told me where it around my neck when I was up going to the bathroom & it had a tube connected to it that went to one of my incisions. (You will have like 4 tiny incisions & then your big 1 for your port if you are having it done laprosopic) & I asked for the ball to be removed when I left the hospital because I didn't want to full with it. Then they gave me liquid ibuprofen & some nasal spray called stadol ns. The nasal spray really makes you sleepy. Then I also had to fill some fragmin. That's shots I have to give myself for 10 days so I won't get blood clots. He says that's just routine. (Expensive is what that is) But I only took my pain meds for like 3 days because they say that they constipate you & I didn't want that. Also, don't bother taking your own nightgown, you won't feel like using it, or at least I didn't. I wore some pants that were stretchy & wore the same outfit home. Is yours overnight? I had mine on Wed at 9:30 & left the very next morning after I did my barium swollow test. (that yucky milky stuff you have to drink so they can look to make sure your port is where it's supposed to be. Then I pretty much told them I wanted to go home. So I left even before breakfast came. I know that's more then you asked for but, hope this helps.TTYL.
  7. zuchinno vbmenu_register("postmenu_541226", true); - Youre surgery was 1 day after mine. Did your doc. say you can have that kind of soup? I'm afraid to eat it still. My doc. said only liquids that could go thru a straw without using the straw. He said pureed foods at weeks 3-4. Course, it would probably be fine since I didn't get filled during surgery it's just the swelling & healing part I'm worried about.

Happy Camper, I drink coffee once in awhile or have a cappachino but I have only drank diet decaf drinks for years. I was actually having headaches before my surgery for awhile & then they stopped & now they have started again. I was starting to have migraines & surely don't want them again. Hubby said it could be the weather. It was 104 degrees here today!! Shew!!

Miss Darlene, Everyone is different so maybe you won't have my problem, but if you do remember to ask for squirt bottles. Please let meknow how your surgery goes. I really like talking to everyone on here.
  10. Thanks-let me know if I can help ya out. I'm just learning but I did have my surgery before yours so that will give me a little more experience than you.
  11. Anything else I can help with let me know, but remember I'm still learning too. But then again I am ahead of you so I can answer what I'm going thru or been thru. GOOD LUCK!! It's not too bad.

Wonder where these headaches are coming from?? Maybe not getting enough nutrition? So what are you eating/drinking & are you hungry? How are you getting around? Are you going to any support meetings? I am going to go to the ones at Norton Suburban Hosp. in Louisville the 4th Thurs. of every month @ 6 pm. Aug. 23rd. will be my 1st meeting.
  13. Yikes!! Sorry about your mishap. Glad you are better. What all are you taking in liquid wise? Are you moving around & doing everything now? Are you hungry??
  14. I'm feeling better. Like I told someone before-I couldn't wipe myself for about 3 days. I don't know if anyone else will admit that but I know I never had that problem with any of my other surgeries. I was sore for the 1st few days. My surgery was 7 days ago today & I feel pretty good. I was really gassy at 1st in my shoulder & all over. I was told to raise my arms above my head & also to walk as much as possible-that did help. Also, a neat trick I learned was to keep your stomach covered when you 1st come home & shower is to put glad press & seal. Works great!! I am now able to sleep on my side & partially on my stomach. (I'm a stomach sleeper but also have a sleep apnea machine too, so I'm trying again to at least get partially on it. ) I only took my pain meds for like til I could wipe myself. About 3 days. The reason I did this was because they said the pain meds costipate you & I didn't want to go thru that but it wasn't too bad, just sore. Anything else, feel free to ask. Good Luck!!!
  15. My doctor said I couldn't have caffeine for a few months & would do better if I didn't have any at all. It dehydrates you.

It was laproscopic but I could not bend that way without intense pain. Maybe it's just me. I couldn't wipe my front either. If you find you have this problem, do yourself a favor & ask for one of those squirt bottles they give to women after they have babies. No one offered me anything & I know I can't be the biggest person that had this surgery. I just felt like I needed an arm extender. I really hope you don't have that problem & don't know if anyone else will admit it or not. But I never had that problem withany of my other surgeries. Good Luck!!!
  18. Thanks!! I hope I can keep up with this site. All I'm used to doing online is checking my mail & doing Myspace-anyone want to get ahold of me my url is myspace.com/theresagkuhn hope I was allowed to put that on here.

Sweetforlife, Well, maybe we can be buddies. I am finally moving around better. I am still sore I guess where the port site is. I wake up with a headache every morning. I take 2 tums a day with extra calcium for my calcium a kids chewable vitamin til week 3-4 then they said take a prenatal vitamin, instead. I am drinking 2 protein shakes a day then just making due with the broth, tom. soup, sf popsicles, sf jello, juice. I am starving!! Not got sick at all yet, Thank God. Having no problems getting anything down. Was just taking a tiny bit because I was soooo afraid I would get sick. But now taking more liquid in I'm starving!! I've been walking up & down my sidewalk. I've not started housework or anything like that, wondering if I'm just being a baby. I'm here to tell you that I've had 2 c-cections, gallbladder, appendix & a hysterectomy & this is the 1st time ever I've not been able to wipe my own tush. Hubby had to for 3 days!! He's happy to be off tush duty but Thank God he was here for me. Not many men or women would do that for their spouse.
  20. I was banded on Aug. 8,2007. Not sure really how to use this site, yet but I'm excited to not be alone. Please include me in. I'm on liquids & starving!!

    1 week!

Dumb question, my surgery was 1 week ago today & my doc. also said anything you can get thru a straw without using the straw. So does that mean you can have the noodles too just not the meat? Like what kind of soups would ya'll suggest?

Thanks but can you give me any advice as to my intake right now, I'm hungry & not having any problems keeping what I do take in at all. I've got another week to be on as my doc. says "anything that will go thru a straw, but don't use the straw. Also, how soon did you start going laundry, vacuuming, etc.
  23. Not really sure how this board works but I'm trying. I was banded Aug. 8, 2007. Last week. Really wanting someone to buddy with from the same time or people ahead of me to tell me what to expect. Thanks.

    Feel the Port?

Just wanted you to know that I was banded on that same day. Maybe we can be buddies. I just feel heavy in that spot. It's the only place that is still sore too.
