Lynn: 896/40 trail. Its really nice. I think it is 2.5 miles. it is always crowded. we should set up a time to walk together. I need the motivation. However, I am kinda slow right now with the walking. I need to build my stamina up!

    Any locals?

You guys have given me some of the greatest ideas. I been a little down on this bleak diet for the liquid stage. I went to Super G today and got a few different things to spice up the diet. They had mangos on special. Well I put some cut up mango in the bullet with skim milk, banana, splenda, vanilla extract and Protein powder. it was great! Well as great as you are going to get with the liquid stage. Thought I would pass it on as an idea. I am looking forward to a banana and Peanut Butter shake tomorrow. I had no idea that I could use the stuff. I went to the walking trail today for the first time today! I am proud of myself. I was too tired yesterday to do it. However, I wish I had because now I have so much more energy after the walk.

    Any locals?

Hey Everyone! Thought I'd check in before bed. I did much better at work today. I sipped a lot today and made sure that I had enough calories/ ptn. However I still was a little hungry about 9pm. But I am a work in progress and will get there. It just takes time. I treated myself to a cut and color tonight; however, I feel guilty that I did not get any walking in at all. I am working half a day tomorrow and will make sure that I get out and exercise. There is a nice walking trail near me, maybe I will hit it. The sour cream backfired last night. I am milk intolerant. My GI was not happy with me. I think that it is a food that I will have to stay away from for awhile. Lynn: your meal sounded so yummy!

    Any locals?

Hey gals. So glad to meet all of you last night. It is so important for us to have a good support group during this process. I am looking forward to getting to know you all better! Oh my gosh I went back to work for the whole day today. I am so tired. It is so hard for me to get used to having less calories. 2 weeks ago I was eating 5 times the calories. And I was still tired at the end of the day. I really look forward to loosing some weight and getting some energy. I will have to bring more Snacks of soup/protein for throughout the day tomorrow. Fairy: SO PROUD OF YOU! YOU GO GIRL! It is so hard to exercise. I have found every excuse in the book NOT do it. But things are gonna have to change for me with this new lifestyle. Hope in April: Congrats! that is such a good weight loss in such a amall period of time. Looks like you are off to a good start. Thank you for the sour cream idea yesterday. I had a bit today and it was simply heaven. Lynn: Glad to hear that your day went well. I am so jealous right now that you are on mushies. You will have to tell us about your meal tonight at the resaurant...yumm... 366: Are you getting excited for the surgery or what? It's not long now. We all will have to get together for a girls night out! That is such a good idea.

    Any locals?

Hey guys. I am glad to hear that everyone is doing so well. I must say that the every day I have been getting better and better. I start back to work tomorrow and am looking forward to it. I have been to a couple of the support meetings with Saint Francis. Most of the people there are people who are waiting to get the band and asking pre-band questions. Alot of the insurances companies require attendance. But I will try to make it. It would be nice to meet a few fellow banders.:biggrin2:

    Any locals?

hello everyone! I am alive and kicking today. Doing much better than I thought I would. I am a little over 48 hours post op. Trying to get all the liquid and Protein in. I called Sam (the dietician) and he said that I need to take it slow over the next few days and will soon be able to get the 64/64 in. I had the surgery at St Francis. I could not have asked for a better experience. Everyone there was kind. There is a bariatric section. I pretty much had a nurse to my beckon call. The room was large and private. I hugged the nurse before I left. I am sore in the surgical sites, but am doing better than I thought I would be able to. I have a lot of gas. It has no where to go. So I am waiting for it to come out the other end. haha. It feels funny that I cannot properly burp. I guess that is something that I will have to get used to. How long did everyones gas last? How long was is until you were able to get the 64 oz in per day that is recommended?

Lynn Thank you for the words of encouragement. I really need them at this time. You will have to keep me posted about your weight loss as I will you with mine. So far the liquid diet is going well. I think I will be starving by late afternoon though! Have a good one!

    Any locals?

Hi everyone. Glad to see you guys are here. I never noticed the Delaware site before today. I am starting my clear liquid diet in 6 hours in preparation for surgery on Tuesday morning. I am nervous; however, I am excited to get started with the LapBand proceedure. It has been a long journey so far (since August 2007). I feel very confident with Dr Wynn and the Chrias staff. Wish me luck. And I look forward to chatting in the future.
  16. Did anyone have a hiatal hernia repair at the time of lapband placement?
  17. Delaware

    hiatal hernia

Did the MD put you on Rx Previcid for 6 months afterward? Right now she has me in Prilosec OTC. I really was unaware of all of the acid reflux and stomach pain I had until I started to take the medicine a few weeks ago. I feel so much better now. I cannot wait until it is repaired.

    coffee drinkers?

Caffeine can cause gastritis. I was told it should be introduced slowly into your post op diet. And if tolerated you can have coffee. Just be careful.

    diet soda

I have reciently decided to explore the option of Lap Band in helping me loose over 100 lbs. I have an orientation seminar next month. I have met people who have gone through bypass surgery, they state that you cannot have carbonation. Stating it "stretches" your stomach. If I have Lap Band, will I ever be able to enjoy another beer? Will I have to give up my addiction to diet soda? I love caffeine and need it quite often. Can I drink my morning coffee? Help. I am trying to cut down on the caffeine intake now to see if it is possible to give it up forever.
  20. I have been reading a lot about PB's, but what happens when you get the stomach flu? I swear I get a case of it once a year. Can you vomit correctly?
  21. I have read a lot of threads recently. There have been a lot of complaints about arm pain. Who has had it? How long did it last? What did your MD state was the cause?
  22. Delaware

    diet soda

No diet soda since 8/9/07 and still going strong. I was not able to give up coffee though. I have resorted to coffee most mornings. Only two cups, but I am trying to adjust as is. We will see how it goes. I relied on diet soda to help me when my stomach was burning. Sounds funny, but it really helps. Water seems to make my burning stomach worse. I think my stomach has a lot of adjusting to get used to.

    Cottonmouth????

I would call your dentist and talk to him/her and see what is suggested. See if you can use an over the counter mouth moisturizer called Oral Balance. Maybe stay away from mouth rinses that have alcohol in them too. Carry a bottle of water with you to take sips of it to moisurize your mouth.
  24. I have been lucky to observe surgical proceedures on both smokers and non-smokers. Smoking makes the anesthesia process much less predictable. It is not worth smoking. Also it slows the healing process and leaves you at higher risk for infection. Not to mention the Cancer word. And you will need to be able to excercise when you get the band...
