I had gastric bypass in 2002. I lost most of my weight quickly and didn't start to regain until after having my second child who is now 4. I saw a new gastroenterologist who ordered an esophogram (?). I had it done today and it showed I have a new "pouch" that is created out of my intestine, just below my pouch that was created during the original gp. Almost immediately, during the procedure, my dr said, that's got to come out. I looked and there was this thing hanging down that appeared to be pretty large. The dr was just there to observe the swallow to see how things went down so I didn't have a lot of time to ask questions when it was over. He didn't tell me what this "thing" is called and I can't find anything on the internet. It isn't a fistula, at least not a traditional one that connects back to my old stomach. It is like part of my intestine bulged out at some point in the past and now a long pouch has formed where food is stored. There is only one opening. I'm pretty grossed out! I feel like I have a new appendage. What is this?
