I was a social drinker also...I liked beer and wine. I stopped drinking beer because of the carbonation. Wine however I have tried. I am not a fan anymore. I can drink about a glass and I have the worse hangover. Not worth it anymore. I just order water and put my crystal light in it. -

Federal BCBS paid for my sleeve 100%, minus the copayments for the hospital and my surgon!

I have federal bcbs basic...they made me pay 20 percent of my meds during surgery and hospital stay...total with surgeon co pay and hospital co pay my out of pocket was over 3,000! I had my surgery February 5 2014. Should I be asking bcbs what was up with that? I had to pay this total before my surgery date! Grrrrrrr....but still totally worth it. Would like refund to go cloths shopping! -
BCBS FEDERAL BMI requirements for sleeve

I have bcbs federal basic .....I had the sleeve in February. 40 or higher BMI . Or two or more health issues do to being obese example....diabetic , sleep apnea , high blood pressure ect.... You must have two years of weight documentation and six months of weight management with a physician. -
I'm live in NC. where about are you? In about 45 min north of Charlotte.

abnormal chest x-ray

They found an abnormal lump in my breast when I got my mammogram. Then had to get another mammogram, ultra sound, biopsy...then they removed it.it was the size of a pea.....very early. So not only has the sleeve helped improve my life it also may have already saved it. -
Tylenol does not work for me ....my doc says no NSAIDs ..any one know of any other pain relievers?

Aleve and Advil are NSAIDS so you definitely don't want to take those and aspirin is a blood thinner so typically that is contraindicated after surgery for pain relief. Typically, the reason NSAIDs are discouraged is because they can slow wound healing. If Tylenol is not helping, your over the counter options are really limited unfortunately. Not sure when your surgery was, are you fresh post op? Did they not give you a pain med at discharge?

Get the surgery! Swallowing pills the next day. Hanging skin can be delt with at a later date. I also drank coffee and soda with every meal...I am happy I had to miss it .....cuz the way I am feeling now is way bigger and better then wanting to drink with my meals! Do yourself and your son a big favor get the surgery and live a longer, healthier, happier, more comfortable life. -
Out of Pocket and Deductible Question?

I have bcbs federal and I had to pay my deductible up front plus 2377 for my 20 percent of the surgery I was responsible for. It wasn't the policy of bcbs but of the hospitals. -

I have not been sleeved very long but I can tell you already that the pain of recovery (not really all that bad) and all the negative side effects not even come close to the positive things that I am feeling! -

I am 10 days post op does anyone have any good ideas for food that I can eat? I am sick of creamed soup!

I am right with you! I hurt pretty bad. Today is good but I am sick of not chewing. I want to gulp water also....and a soon as I do.....eeekkkkk! But on the up side I have lost over 15 lbs in a week! Things are getting better.

You go girl!......I'm four days out and just keep thinking how much more I am going to enjoy this summer. -
I had to have four months of visits. It went by fast...lost some weight even. I'm on my second day of the surgery...getting ready to be discharged! First day was rough.....but today I feel great! Very little pain...excited to get my new life! So far so good. I did have a ting of regret my first day of surgery, do to mainly nausea but wow i feel so much better! And what's so great I am not hungry! Good luck and don't give up because the weight visits and all the millions of task you to get the surgery!

Maybe it has something to do with your thyroid. Seems it has to be something medical....good luck. I'm going to pray for you and your family. When you start to lose weight and get nearer to your goal, you, your son and family will know the sacrifices they have made will have been worth it knowing you will live happier and longer! In Jesus name I pray you WILL reach your goal weight and emotional happiness. -
