What state are you in? There are a few around but knowing where you are will help locate the nearest one. I'm in Texas I had my surgery in San Antonio 3 half hours from my town. Dr. Ayoola at Weight Loss Specialists of North Texas is an up and coming DS surgeon. He proctored with Dr. Darryl Stewart (who passed last summer) and then took over the practice.

It's also possible he doesn't think it's finacially feasible. It takes about twice as long as the RNY, and about 3 times longer than the VSG. And the rate of reimbursement is about the same as the RNY. Health care is more about the bottom line than what is best for the patient.

And I put post op in the pull down under "My Surgery" in the user profile. It's a glitch that needs fixing, please.

Vitamins and the DS
southernlady5464 replied to diamond girl's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Michelle aka Vitalady (vitalady.com) is the screen name of a LONG time member of the bariatric community (as in almost 20 years) who owns/runs a small business selling vitamans that can not be found on the open market for those of us who have had WLS. But what makes her unique is her information on Vitamins, offered freely even if you do not buy from her. No, she is not an RD but to be honest, she knows as much or more than most of them. Her basic premise is to track your OWN labs and tweak the amounts you need to take based on your own labs. But many do not know how to read lab work, she can help if needed. Her surgery is a distal RNY (the pouch of a RNY'er with the intestinal configuration more closely resembling a DS'er.) -
I'm POST OP not Pre op

Yeap, the only part I didn't fill out was Surgery cost and Out of Pocket (Oh, and the pull down just above it about where in the insuance process. But listed DS, my preo op weight, day of surgery weight, current, surgeon is all there. It's a software glitch from the looks of it and somewhere it isn't picking up the fact that we are post ops. Curious as to which software this forum uses. -

How Does the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) Affect You?
southernlady5464 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My option is not included in the poll...the ACA doesn't apply to me, I am on Medicare...we have our OWN problems. -
Nope, NOT reserved for just those over a 40 BMI. I was 35.2 pre-op. My husband, also a DS'er was a 39 BMI...boh of us lightweights.

I did refresh but did it again at your suggestion. I'm not the only glitch. I happen to know Sheanie: http://www.bariatricpal.com/user/200572-sheanie/ who is even further out than I am and hers also shows pre-op. -
