Still have over 100 lbs to go but I feel happy so far
-
Oh I was just saying i have a ways to go yet but yay, look!
-
My belly button open ugly weird wound finally just closed up and is healing after 4 weeks. I was really worried about it for awhile but doc said was normal.
-
I've lost 45 pounds and don't really notice much differences yet other than clothes being a bit looser. That's the sucky part of having a high start weight of 374. 45-50 pounds doesn't make much difference like it does for some. Can't wait to really see and feel a difference.
-
Thanks guys! Much better.
-
I wish it tracked grams instead of percentages. The percentages are not useful to me
-
I usually get chicken and some seafood with the veggies and just tell them no noodles or rice
-
How much did you lose the first 3-4 months? I want to be out of the 200+ Club by summer.

I was sleeved 1/16 and lost 20 pounds on the 2 week pre-op and 22 pounds since surgery. I'm eating everything (meaning veggies, fruit, protein) regardless of consistency now and have been since week 2. I average 1000-1200 calories a day. No exercise yet as I'm not cleared for it. Not sure if that pace will remain in the coming months. My start weight was 374. -
Yes there is lol. I was sleeved 1-16 and have been getting 1200 cal a day. I've lost 40 pounds since my pre-op diet started 1/3. My nut wouldn't give me a guideline as she didn't want me focusing on numbers yet but I wanted to get into the habit of tracking right off the bat so I have been.
-
Exact same as you, timing and loss and everything. I have not had a problem getting 1200 calories a day though, which kind of upsets me. My nut hasn't given me a guideline either. She said she will next visit at 6 weeks. Not sure why :/

Failing...by the book.

I was sleeved 1/17. Lost 10 pounds I think the first week. Nothing since. Totally normal and i too am doing everything right. Don't fret -
Low fat cream soups?
SeriJ replied to irockedthe80s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the low fat, low sodium ones. When you are in week 2 and 3 and are just trying to stay hydrated and find something your tummy (and taste buds) will tolerate, sodium isn't a huge worry. My NUT told me not to worry about fat, calories or anything the first month. Just keep hydrated and train your tummy to accept foods. I'm eating mashed potatoes a lot now. Something that is not going to be a part of my diet later on. -
Low fat cream soups?
SeriJ replied to irockedthe80s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on week 3. I used mild salsa and mild rotel so it wasn't very spicy but still good. I couldn't handle the taste of any plain old cream soups but this has really worked for me. I used the healthy heart low fat soups for all of them and it was great. The canned chicken blends up real easy too. -
Low fat cream soups?
SeriJ replied to irockedthe80s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made chicken tortilla soup using cream soups and blended it to take out the chunks. Was amazing. 1 can chicken 1 cup smooth salsa 1 can cheddar cheese soup (or nacho for spicier) 1 can cream of mushroom 1 can cream of chicken 1 can cream of celery 1 can chicken broth 1 can Water 1 can rotel Season with red chili pepper, salt and pepper to taste I made this in crock pot and blended before I ate. Very yummy. -
When did you stop losing?
SeriJ replied to LuminousLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 11 days out and have been stalled the last week, oddly enough. I don't think there is any thing to do except keep on course -
When did you all start to eat the protein bars, how many weeks out after surgery?
-
I was sleeved jan 16 and have had a really easy time. I can tolerate most everything I try (full liquids) and have no problem with Water. However the last few days I have been able to eat an entire take out container (8oz I think?) of strained creamed Soups. This seems like a lot to me, but if I only eat half of it I'm still hungry. Granted I don't eat much else in the day (drink a lot of water) and it takes me about 45 mins to an hour to eat it, but it takes that whole amount to "fill me up". I still am not entirely sure what full feels like on this new stomach. Just need some feedback. Seems like more food than others can handle at only a bit over a week out. I have another week of full liquids. Am afraid this means the surgery won't work well for me. Doesn't help that I'm already at a stall. Lost 20 pounds pre op and 8-10 since surgery, depending which scale I'm going by, mine is less than doctors.

Lying about Weight Loss Surgery !
SeriJ replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before surgery I didn't want to tell ANYONE other than my parents and my roommate. Now a week out, I'm much more comfortable with telling people. I didn't want to tell anyone before because face it. people make the stupidest remarks unintentionally at times, and I didn't want their questions and comments to fuel my own fears and insecurities about the decision. Most people that are not close to me I've simply told I'm having surgery and if they are rude enough to ask "what kind", I say a surgery that will help me get some health issues under control and straighten out my hormones. Then I change the subject. Sorry, but it really is none of their business, and I personally am appalled every time I tell someone I'm having surgery and they ask "what for". This is seriously rude to me, but I understand that not everyone has the same view of "rude" as I do, so I just brush it off. I've since told most of my family and a few more close friends, but general people in my life don't need to know. I don't need to know about their surgeries or health issues. I agree that lying about having cancer or something of that level is wrong, because it creates emotions and reactions that are difficult for OTHER people. Purposely giving someone else a reason to worry about you is...wow, yeah, very wrong. Fudging the personal details of the surgery to avoid opinions, comments and judgements I have no issues with. If anyone has a tantrum over me having "lied" to them by not giving exact details, that's ok. The reason they were lied to in the first place was because of their nosiness, rudeness and lack of respect. -
I am one week out and just finished a bowl of cream soup. It was a normal take-out bowl size. Not sure how many ounces. I was surprised and a little worried that I finished the whole thing with no problem

Someone suggested somewhere to top the beans with enchilada sauce and cheese. That sounded wonderful to me

What's are you doing about clothes?
SeriJ replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gman I adore your attitude -
can you eat a whole cup of yogurt?
SeriJ replied to abarta83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved the 16th and can easily handle a whole container of yogurt, pudding or soup. I don't know what "full" feels like on this new stomach yet and it's kind of confusing me. -
Had surgery thurs jan 16 and stayed one night in hospital. Went well but I had a horrible time with thirst and dry mouth. That was by far the worst part. Now I'm supposed to be on full liquids and the only thing I want is Water. Plain old water. I used to drink flavored waters and teas and whatnot and none sound good at all now. I can handle Jello. I tried a little cream Soup and pudding and it went down fine but i didn't want it all all. I am not yet sure what "full" is on this new stomach, but I also don't know what hungry feels like either. It's only thirst. Finding my extreme lack of appetite a bit odd. My pain is low and I have no trouble with stomaching whatever I try, few as those things may be, but I bought all this broth and flavored water and expensive tea and what am I drinking? Tap water. lol. Oy!
-
I would be lost without my camelbak water bottle. I took the straw off and just tilt and sip since I'm only 3 days out but it goes everywhere with me and I know exactly how much I'm drinking.

Is it normal to feel so fatigued during the pre-op diet? I'm on the 2 shakes a day plus protein/veggie supper diet. My energy is so low it's making my physical job difficult. I'm on day 6. I had a headache the first 5 days and that has gone away now thankfully but my energy is very low. Also I'm finding the weight loss kind of bizarre. Makes me think my scale is broken even though it's a brand new digital scale. I was steady at 5 pounds lost for a few days and then all of the sudden 13 pounds total seemingly overnight. Just seems odd to make a big jump like that in a short time rather than a more steady loss. But then again my brain feels broken so I probably dreamed the entire thing.
