    Day 4 -home

It des get better! It took me until day4 to really start being ableto get more fluids in and by day 5 post op I will able to accomplish it. Keep changng up your liquids...change broth flavors, proteing flavors etc. Keep your eye on the prize. It feels like you wont eat food again forever but it seems to pass more quickly when you can start doing more and keep busy. I am 2 weeks post op and can start mushy food tomorrow...soooo looking forward to it, but at this point I am also a little scared LOL Hang in there....you are doing terrific!

    Want to eat so bad....

You really need to work on geting your water and protein in. That is probably causing your nausea and making you feel hungry and weak. Are you on prilosec or any other antiacid? If not...ask to get on one...or get some over the counter prilosec (omeprozole is the generic name) acid can make you nauseated and feel hungry as well. you might also want to go to the doctor to make sure your not dehydrated. You should be able to get your fluids in by now.

    Antiacids?

Dont ever stop taking it cold turkey....most doctors dont explain that you can get acid rebound and it will hurt. You have to wean very slowly. I take mine twice a day...but I am just 2 weeks post op... I do the OTC and mine has the beads in it...But I may ask for a script because its cheaper then OTC for us...my 4 year old is on it...just 10.00 a month and we take the same dose.

    Omeprazole DR 20mg

No problem..I have a 4 year old with bad GERD....that is the only reason why I know how to take it. Most doctors dont explain that to you. Shoot even a lot of GI doctors don't but my sons GI doctor does. It really does make a difference.

    Artificial sweetners

I only use stevia... my doctor at a wellness clinic only likes it because it is natural and wont cause blood sugar spikes. I also try to stay as soy free as possible so all of the pre op diet stuff and my post op liquid phase is bugging me because of all the sugar free artificial sweetener stuff...but..once i am on full solids I plan on phasing that stuff out again.

    New whey protein shots

Thank you Seela.... If anyone ever offers advice on something and has stuff to back it up...I do look at it then make the best choice for myself. I actually haven't had one in a few days and I do have others ways to get Protein in and I would rather do it with something that is good quality. Thank you mama spike for the information. You all are so helpful.
  8. Just wanted to share these "shots" that I found. They are a little pricey, but they have 42grams of Protein in 3.5 ounced of Fluid. They are very sweet and taste ok. I like they grape. They come in handy if you are having trouble getting your protein in. I am still in my liquids phase, but beyond that I plan on keeping a couple on hand for when I need that extra protein I didnt get in my diet. You can find them at walmart too. http://www.amazon.com/IDS-New-Whey-Liquid-Protein/dp/B005JMRD22/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1388541206&sr=8-3&keywords=new-whey+liquid+protein

    New whey protein shots

I will read the article. My surgeon suggests them also...I only plan on using them while on my full liquids phase then just having them as a back up when I move into full phase of eating. But I will research them some more.
  14. hope1106.....I was just sleeved by Dr Hollis on the 19th...my experience is no different. He is really good but his office staff sucks. I ran a medical office for 12 years and pretty uch everything they did bugged me. The isurance girl first got me approved for a bypass...then she got me approved for the sleeve but out patient instead of inpatient so things had to be fixed twice If I didnt keep on her butt and the insurane I probably still would have been waiting. Beth....I email her...I asked her about something that was on there after care sheet, she told me to read carefully because it states this...blah blah..but it didnt..I took it to her office and called her out on it..nicely of course. I can say they only reason I stuck with them is because i kept hearing about how great he was. I had a NUT because my insurance required it.... I used Sonny at the hospital..if you want one...go see her...she is terrific. Missyt77...GL with your surgery....Dr Hollis is a great surgeon...just look past the office staff...friendly but they dont have it together at all. Are you ladies planning ongoing to the monthly support group they have at the hospital ?I am thinking about it.

    Miss The Morning Coffee

I am 12 days post op....I didn't drink it for the first couple of days because it was hard to get liquids in period. I asked my doctor about coffee at my 1 week visit. He said by all means have a cup..... That's all I needed to hear....I will say I only drink 1/2 of my large cup now though.... I am also good about keeping up with my water and fluids. I will give up a lot of other things, will even decrease my coffee consumption, use to drink 2 large cups every morning....but wont get rid of it all together.
  16. I just ordered some. I love cheese so I am hoping I can use this to increase my protein in foods when I can start eating again

    Jeans

I am 12 days post op.....I work at a private school..my dress attire is jeans and a school shirt. I am concerned about wearing regular jeans at first because of 1. the tightness on my stomach and 2. The waist would sit right n top of my larger incision that is still a litlle painful. Have any of you worn pull on elastic jeans for a little while when you were healing? Did it help? I know they are not pretty, but my shirt is not tucked in so it would only show legs. Any brand you recommend?
