How in the world do I know what to get!! LOL
Joyce in VA replied to Mcgraw-addict's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did a lot of Slim Fast Protein Shakes. The low carb ones. I also used Boost drinks. I still do them when I don't have enough protein in for the day. Sometimes I have to add a protein powder in with it also. Try to track your protein in and get at least 60 grams. I have really been slack this week and have not kept up with it. Good luck with your surgery. -
Help I Must Quit Smoking I Can Do This Right.
Joyce in VA replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My sister went to hypnotherapy and was told to take calcium, B Complex, drink orange juice and lots of water to flush your system. It worked for her. She smoked for 40 years and has been smoke free for 2 months. Good Luck. -
Hi Misti, I'm your neighbor here in Virginia. Mine was self pay and the cost was $17,000.00 including one year of follow up. You probably will not beat the prices in Mexico but make sure you have a fill doctor lined up in case you can't afford to go to Mexico. Good luck.

July 6th for me. I have lost 20 lbs. I have had one fill and I think I need a little bit more. I am pleased with the 20 lbs. I looked at my records and it took me 11 months to lose 20 lbs at Weigh Watchers. I stayed another year just to maintain that.

Heather, I too only need to lose 75 or 80 lbs. I was borderline diabetic with my triglycerites too high. I decided I did not want to sit around and wait until I had more problems. I had the band put in on July 6, 2005. I have not regretted it. My weight is coming off slow but I figure my age (52) and my thyroid condition will make it come off slow but I am really trying. I agree with nygrl, this is not the easy way. There is no easy way. You still have to make the right choices and realize you did not put the 70 lbs. on overnight and will not take it off overnight. You will have to change your lifestyle, begin exercising and eating right. The band is a tool that will help you. Good luck with your decision.

Try rubbing Vick's Salve on your legs before going to bed. It really works for me.

Hello Maria, We have the same band date. You are losing your weight very good. Keep up the good work. We all get anxious when the scale does not move but that is part of it.

I Made It Through My First Fill - Barely
Joyce in VA replied to HotLikeMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cheryl, I too went for my first fill. I only had 1cc. put in and so far I really can't tell a difference. If I don't get some restriction after this weekend I will call and get another little tweak in it. I was scared of the fill also. -
Barb, I took one drink of diet coke after my band and decided I really did not want it. It did not taste good at all. I guess I was afraid to like it so I didn't. My doctor said they are not sure but carbonation might stretch the stomach so I decided to just leave it alone. I haven't missed it yet.

Mercedes, I understand the temptation to go look for the dog. I am not too sure I would not do the same thing. Is there no one else who can go look? How old is the dog? Dogs usually come home after a day or so. Or at least mine do. I have not read the warnings on pool chemicals. Read it and see what it says. It does not sound too good if the dog has not returned after a week. If you go be real careful and take it slow. I would call my doctor also.

You have to save the signature before it will show up. Make sure you are cutting and pasteing the right one and getting all of it.

Good luck Zoe with your surgery. I had my surgery several years ago and will have to say I would not have those parts back if they were lined with gold. I feel so much better now and have never regretted it. I choose to have my ovaries removed because it seemed a lot of people had trouble when they had one left and had to have it removed later. I know things have changed a lot over the years and maybe very few have problems now. I think you will find you feel 100% better after the surgery is over.

I'm Kickin Caffine!!! You want to too?
Joyce in VA replied to bushbaby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I went off caffeine I did it gradually. By that I mean I bought a 3 lb. can of reg. coffee and mixed with 1 lb. of caffeine free. When that was gone I mixed it half and half. I kept going down. It took a few weeks but I never had a headache. Also I didn't want Hubby to know we were switching. -
My doc said to take a multi vitamin and calcium and it would not hurt to take a B complex. I think the B is required for RYN people.

Penni. I loved the story. I think I would have strangled that girl.

I too love cheeseburgers and when we go out I simply take all the bread off and eat what I can hold of the cheeseburger, lettuce and tomato. It satisfies me and I get full quickly. I usually eat a couple of DH fries. He doesn't need all of them!!!

I have a SIL who is trying to get set up for the band now. We hope she gets it done in September.

EXERCISE...is everybody really doing it??
Joyce in VA replied to wannabskinny2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have started walking 30 minutes a day. I don't like taking the time but I am already feeling better. -
Congratulation Lisa. Good job.
-
Robyn, I think your weigh lose is fantastic. I had my surgery on July 6th and have lost 18 lbs and am very pleased with that. Don't be so hard on yourself. I go for a fill on Wednesday and am wondering if I really need one. You are doing great. I too wonder if you are eating enough. You have lost 43 lbs. in one month. Be proud.

Confused and undecided about lap band
Joyce in VA replied to kat72's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've only had my band for 7 weeks and I will tell you I love it. I love eating a meal and not being hungry 30 minutes later. I love the fact that after I got over the surgery I felt great and was eating only 1/3 of what I normally would have and still felt great. I have lost 18 lbs. and on weight watchers that would have taken me months. I know I did that 2 years. I love the fact I do not have other issues that my friends who had the RYN have had and they are putting back on some of their weight. For me there is no comparrison but you have to be determined and know that a slow weight lose is what you want and work with the band. You can "eat around" the band and they RYN. Therefore you have to make the right choices. The difference is those of us with the band usually don't have the other issues. I personally beleive the band is the healthy choice. Do your research then make up your mind and stand behind your decision. Good luck. Joyce -
I agree. Sounds like your blood sugar.

I'm in. I will begin walking today. Joyce
