Hi, my name is Kristen. I live near Toledo, Ohio. I am 42 years old. Married to an over the road truck driver. We have a 12 year old daughter. I love to read, take pictures and scrap book.
I had gastric bypass surgery on June 17, 2013. Dr. White was my surgeon. I started my journey last December 2012. I weighed 393 pounds. I was down to 373 on my surgery date. I am now at 273. I have lost about 32 inches and gone from a 5x in tops and pants to a 2X.
I wish I had done this sooner. At first my insurance did not cover the surgery but I switched insurance and didn't realize they would cover it. I could have had this done 2 years sooner. I felt so much better almost instantly.
I have been able to stop taking my medicine for PCOS (still have it but it is improving). I haven't used my inhaler hardly at all. I no longer take medicine for stomach issues.
The best thing is how much I can do now. I spend a lot more time doing things with my daughter. Which was one of my goals. I can shave without having to twist and turn to reach things. I don't need to wear a seatbelt extender and so much more.
Some problems I am having is I am not absorbing my Vitamin D so I have been increased to 50,000 units twice a week for 3 months on top of my regular vitamins. This is causing some bones aching and I have broken 2 toes since surgery. My bones actually hurt when they touch each other at night.
I hope to find friends on here that understand all that I am going through. Sometimes I get sad and then i feel bad because I should be happy losing this weight and feeling better but I hate the way I look sometimes now with the excess skin. My husband doesn't understand and he tries to be supportive but......
