Hey folks. Sorry it's been so long since you've heard from me. I went back to work on July 1st... forgot how busy my life really is. Anyway, a grand total of 25 people submitted responses to the interest survey. The leading responses for days of the week to meet were Tuesday and Thursday. Most people want the meetings to start at 7:00 pm. I haven't heard from our co-host in about six weeks. Maybe weekends are an option after all. How many people would prefer a weekend meeting? Thanks for your patience with me.

Dallas TX sleevers?
BariatricCeliac replied to Ballinallthetime's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, Sanger is kinda far anyway! I didn't think I'd enjoy meetings, but I do. I go to Baylor's meeting in Grapevine and love it. I learn so much from the people who have already been through all of this. -

I'm kind of leaning more toward church, library, public school -- something like that which will be free or cheap. My own home is not large enough to host people... I'm not opposed to a restaurant, but it may be tough to find one with a separate room (that also happens to be bariatric friendly).

It's going! Haha. I recently got to add in protein chips and protein bars so it's really nice to have a snack to grab instead of always having to cook. I eat 2-3 oz. of protein and 1 oz. of fruits and veggies. I often don't make it to the veggies coz I get full off the protein. But... I don't usually sit down and eat a meal like that. I get full too quickly and then hungry again shortly after. So I eat several smaller meals a day. It seems to work better. I've been doing better with my fluids but vitamins are still a struggle because they're gross. Haha. I've lost 31 pounds in 6.5 weeks. I seem to have hit another stall, so I'm going to attempt to exercise more this week! -
Ok Thanks for answering. Though it would still have been nice for Saturday and Sunday to have been included on the survey. What if most people had chosen Saturday morning? But that data won't be gathered. I did not include the weekend days because I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. If her schedule changes in the future, maybe it's something we can look into.

The co-host works weekends, so unfortunately, yes.

Way to go! I use the unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I don't think I've even had real milk since the surgery. -

The only time I experienced dumping syndrome it was about an hour after eating. Now, with celiac disease, I had issues that were similar to dumping syndrome, but it would happen usually within 30-45 minutes of the beginning of the meal. ...I guess the point I'm trying to make is, I don't know why it's happening so late for you. you've had so many issues, I'm so sorry. -
Hey y'all. I am 5 weeks post bypass. My family and I went for a road trip today. I packed enough food for the whole trip, perfectly planned and measured. We checked in to our hotel, loaded everything into the fridge, and left for the event we're here for. When we got back, we realized the fridge is broken and everything got spoiled. Now I'm 200 miles from home with nothing to eat. I could really use some help here. I don't know anything about ordering from a restaurant that would be both bariatric friendly and gluten free. I don't know what to do.

Help! 200 miles from home and no food
BariatricCeliac replied to BariatricCeliac's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Bear with me, I don't have my info with me so I'll tell you what I remember. I can have turkey (and its sausage, bacon, etc.), ham, pork, canned chicken, eggs, and various seafood but I hate it... then cooked vegetables: carrots, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower... and fruit: cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, applesauce... -

I've been sticking to the ready to drink protein shakes for that exact reason. I had a lot of luck before surgery using a Blender Bottle... took most of the grittiness out, but it also depended on the brand used. I feel like I'm wasting tons of food too. I'm trying my hardest to make things I can get my family to eat too, but who wants soft/puréed foods? -

Oh no!!! You poor thing. Keep us updated... I know there isn't much I can do from far away, but if you need someone to talk to, I'll be here. -
Hi all! I have volunteered to be a leader of the DFW chapter. About me: My name is Kris and I live in Irving with my husband and two sons, ages 10 and almost-5. I work full-time as a pharmacy technician in a call center. I go to school online full-time as well. In my spare time (what spare time?), I write a blog at BariatricCeliac.com. Eventually, I hope that my blog becomes a good resource for both Celiacs and those interested in bariatric surgery alike. I had gastric bypass on May 20, 2014, so I'm still pretty new to all this. As you can see, I already keep pretty busy. However, I am passionate about being able to have people to lean on during all phases of their bariatric journey. Since our area is so large and since I am newer to the world of bariatrics, I would be thrilled if someone else would be willing to co-lead with me. One thing I love about Irving is that it is so centrally located in the metroplex. Would anyone be opposed to meeting somewhere in Irving? I would love to hear any and all ideas about our meetings, and I can't wait to meet y'all!

Is anyone having any issues with restless legs? If so, do you have any suggestions?
