    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hey guys, wondering how you would celebrate a big milestone. I'm at 202 now and haven't been under 200 for (too many years to count). Normally a celebration would be eating out. (Ha!) So I'm not sure what to do. But I wanna do something when I'm in ONEDERLAND!!

Thanks!! Yes feeling much better! I guess I was feeling bad about myself like , "how could I let this happen?" But now I realize we all make mistakes and it's not the end of the world. Thanks for the support! Love this December group!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Uuhhhh. Not doing well today. I was distracted and absent minded and ate a pretty big mouthful of potatoes after finishing my chicken. I swallowed and realized right away what happened. I'm five weeks out and this is the first time I have had to throw up. The indigestion was horrible and painful. Glad it's over. On a plus side, today was the first day I went to eat out. We went for breakfast and I stole a smidgen of my husband's garden omelet. Yummy! It's good to know I can still eat out and be social!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Don't forget ladies, put menstrual cycle can affect our weight as well. I only weigh myself once a week to avoid the heartache. Remember, we are doing this to be healthy and not to rely on what the scale tells us to determine our happiness. I've hit a few stalls and try to stay positive about it. The weight will come off, just keep doing what you're doing. Focus on health!!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Thanks for the great advice guys!! I decided not to say anything and I'm glad! He didn't comment and I didn't offer. My mom ended up coming over which is awesome. He did eye my plate and portion of food but didn't say anything. I am definitely getting stronger. I was always scared to talk in groups of people and finding it easier to converse with my son's hockey team parents and my daughter's dance parents as well. Also I'm in University and answered my first question in a class of 75 last week. Feels good to be confident! Thanks everyone for the support. I can't believe I didn't think of not telling him, like that was even an option! Ha!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I know this is totally off topic but I have to vent. I'm not very close with my dad, he lives in Chicago and I live in Manitoba Canada. He's coming for a visit this evening and staying at my house for a week. (Never buy a house with extra guest bedrooms!!!!) My mom promised me she would come over to help me talk to my dad about the gastric sleeve as he has no idea. I was sleeved on December 9th and down 36lbs, so at this point it's fairly obvious. My dad is not a sensitive man, he's called me fat my whole life and laughed when others have called me fat. I'm really nervous to even eat in front of him and now I have to go through telling him about my surgery. My parents have been divorced for 14 years but they're still friends and see and talk to each other often. When my dad is mean to me my mom will stick up for me (sometimes). I talked to her this morning and she said she'd be over by 3. Well it's now 4, my dad should be here any minute and she's not here. Not answering her phone and I've texted her several times. I know I'm 30 and should just suck it up and put my big girl pants on (that are getting smaller these days!!) but it's really hard facing my dad alone. Worse yet, my sister who is fairly supportive of me is out of town. So it is literally just me, that's a lie... I have my wonderful husband and three amazing children who love me for me. ) Does anyone else have difficulty telling family members about their sleeve??

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

fostermama: My NUT says starting week 4, which you have passed, that you can have soft lettuce (I am thinking Spring Mix in the bags)! Since others are saying No, maybe you should check with your NUT. I haven't tried salad yet myself. I have enough trouble getting all the protein in! Thanks!! And because I had surgery in Mexico, I don't have a NUT here in Canada. Just trying to figure things out.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hello! I was sleeved December 9 and just saw this thread! I'm 30, 5'4" and started out at 245lbs. With my pre-op diet I lost 9lbs and since surgery I've lost a total of 36! I'll soon be in ONEDERLAND and looking forward to it! Being almost 5 weeks out I'm experimenting with some foods but really wanna have a salad. Do you think that my tummy is ready?

    Blegh to water

Hi all! Before I was sleeved my go to drink was water. I loved the taste and refreshing feeling. But since being sleeved (12/9/13), I cannot stand the taste of water. It leaves a horrible after taste and sort of tastes bitter. Weird! Anyone else have this happen? I'm trying to get my water in, and so I'm drinking it but not liking it! I'm really not into crystal lite or artificial flavouring as they have aspartame in them. Any suggestions for alternatives would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

    A new year, a new me. :)

Yeah! Go Canada and down with PCOS! Hehe. Thanks so much everyone for the support! It really means a lot!
  14. Hello! My name is Jamie and I'm from Manitoba, Canada. (-39 here today...yay!) I have been diagnosed with endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and I'm insulin resistant. I just turned 30 on Xmas eve, I'm married and because I'm infertile, hubby and I foster. We have three wonderful children 13, 7, and 4. I'm currently in school working towards my Masters in Social Work. I have a wonderfully fulfilling life; however, at my peak I weighed 256lbs. I was always tired and frustrated with my weight as we eat relatively healthy as a family. Early in 2013 I told my husband I wanted a gastric sleeve and did a ton of research. We found that Mexico would be the best option, as Canada would do it for free but would take several years after jumping through a million hoops. December 9, I had the surgery done and have zero regrets. Since pre-op diet on December 2, I went from 245 to 213! I feel wonderful! I have to say thank you to all your posts and for this community. I would have had no clue about most things regarding nutrition without your help. See, I had the surgery and because it was two countries away I do not have a nutritionist. I new protein was important but no idea how important! Around day 15 I started feeling light headed and dizzy. Clearly not getting enough protein and nutrients. Well I've now started a good journal and already today I've had an egg with cheese and some plain Greek yogurt. Drank 8oz of water as well. Feeling much better! I don't know where I'd be without reading countless posts by you all! Oh, and I made the egg muffin recipe and the white fish with Greek yogurt dill sauce. Mmmmmmmmm!! So good! Looking forward to posting and reading more!
