Any tips on what to drink besides water and suger free koolaid?
Fullofitx3 replied to MBP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like to add the those single serve crystal lights packets to a 32oz bottle of water so it's not to sweet. I usually get the Walmart great values brand since there like half the price. Be careful with the pre made ice teas like Snapple and Arizona, even though there sugar free they have a a lot of preservatives and can stall your success, my wife learned this the hard way when she stopped drinking the weight began dropping again. -
Too much restriction?
Fullofitx3 replied to UpandAtom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 2 1/2 years out and can only eat around 1000 calories, but it also depends on what I eat, when I stick to dense proteins I get full fast and stay on track, when I eat junk i can start racking up the calories. -

Thanks for all the replies, Spoke with my surgeon and he seems to think it was "dumping syndrome" which is normally seen in patients that had by-pass,he said even though I had the sleeve some times things go through your system faster and especially sugary food like a big piece of cake, lol. Che feels that I gave myself such a sugar rush that my body couldn't handle the withdraw from it when it "dumped out" thus leaving me flat on floor. Still gonna follow up with the cardiologist just to be on the safe side, but for now back to my normal routine with diet and gym and been feeling great. Will post update after next dr appointment.

Thanks, I just spoke with a friend who is dr that works in the weight Drs office and that is what they were thinking as well, still going to follow up with the cardiologist but she is going to look into as well.
-
That's what I was thinking as well, they thought I might of stood up to fast being seated, but I was already standing for about 20/30 mins prior because I was feeling tired and wanted to stretch my legs.

Thanks I doing much better almost as if it never happen, this isn't he first time I've had a drink or sweets since surgery, the wife and I are not big drinkers but like to get out once or twice a week and have a couple drinks, we both had the sleeve surgery mine was 2 years ago n hers was 11/2 years ago and everything has been going great we stick to our diets pretty much all week n allow ourselves a little slack on the weekends. Best of luck with your journey

I used to be a beer drinker but after getting sleeved it dosnt sit right. Not much of a drinker but now my go to drink is stolie orange and tonic, usually takes me about 30-45 mins to finish one drink, so it's a good social cocktail

Was wondering if the following has happened to anyone else. This past weekend the wife and I decide to go out to a local bar and listen to the bad, we were there for about an hour and after one drink (vodka n tonic) I broke out in a cold sweat I turned to my wife to tell her I wasn't feeling good and I don't think I even completed my sentence and past out when I came to I was completely drenched in sweat, I was told later that I was talking but nit making any sense, about 5-10 min later while in the back of an ambulance I snapped out of it and almost completely returned to a normal state. Spent the night and next day in the hospital running test and everything came back perfect. To give you a background of things I was sleeved 2 years ago and lost close to 100 lbs down to around 175, I follow a pretty steady diet of high protein and low carbs and get at least 3/4 gallon of water in a day, I work out 3/4 days week alternateting between cardio and weight training, the only thing I did different on this day was a have a good slice of homemade pound cake with icing before going out, I have had sweets before but few and far between, I mentioned this to all the Drs but they kind of blew it off thinking it was more of a heart or blood vessel thing but couldn't find anything. This hands down was the scariest thing that I ever experienced in my life as this has never happened before. I know that everyone is different and this forum is not a substitute for a dr, but looking to see if this has happened to anyone else so when I go to the follow up dr visits I might help them shine some light on the problem.

I'm just over a year out from sleeve surgery, I can't begin to describe the feeling. I'm down to 168lbs and for the first time in my life I have normal BMI, I have never been one to go by what the scale says, it's always been about how I feel both health and look wise, no longer need the cpap machine! went from a size 40/42 waist to a 32 and xxl shirts to large. Some people I haven't seen in a while don't even recognize me at first, I workout daily and feel healthier then when I was a teen / young adult. I still enjoy food, in fact I think I enjoy it more since I take my time and try to make health fresh choices, and yes I still eat some junk from time to time usually just a couple of bites, but I don't get hung up on it (I'm still human). All in all this was the one of the best decisions I have made. I Wish everyone success on their weight loss journey.

Every dr is different, also insurance plans also differ, on an previous insurance plan I had you had to be on a supervised diet plan for 6 months along with all of the other approvals, also had to see nurturist 2 along with going to support group. I had so much paperwork from meal plans to pre approvals I thought I was gone drown in it, but almost a year post op I couldn't be happier with my progress, I have truly been blessed and my life has turned around completely. Best of luck to you on your journey.
