That's awesome! I'm still pre-op and have a ways to go. I'm likely to be a Late June or July sleever. What did you have to do to get approved?

My food funeral will be for Fried fish, sesame shrimp & hoagies. I'm kinda dreading the "no bread" thing. I know that I'll be able to abstain though.

She likes me fat - I make her feel better about herself

I have a guy friend that I have been seeing, and he doesn't want me to have surgery. He told me that if I lose a lot of weight, then he won't like me. I think that's code for "I'm afraid you're going get skinny and leave me for another man." I told him that he could do me a favor and move on now, because I'm having the surgery for ME. -
Best wishes to you and your husband!

They're pretty comparible. Quinoa has slightly fewers carbs than brown rice and it has more Protein than rice also.

I finish up my 6 month supervised diet and nutrition classes in early June. I'll likely be a late June or July sleever. Best wishes to you!

I love Quinoa. I usually substitute it for my rice. It's delicious. There are tons of recipes for using it. In my experience, it needs to be cooked thoroughly or it'll exit your body via your stool. I know that's TMI, but hey...It happens. lol Quinoa is awesome!

Weight loss surgery seminar
keish_lorraine replied to JessPearl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been to two weight loss surgery seminars. They were both pretty much the same. There were patients speaking about their success stories, and a surgeon spoke in detail about obesity and the need for weight loss surgery. She also gave details about the surgery center where the procedures are performed. The surgeon went into detail about each procedure. When she was done, there was a question & answer period. Prior to the seminar, we were given a packet to fill out which would be used for your first consultation. We were given the option to schedule the first consultation after the seminar or we could call to schedule at a later time. It was that simple. -

Watching My 600 Pound Life.................:(

She really needs help and I hope it works for her! It would be awesome if they communicated with us on the forum!! I would love to be a support for her! I agree. She needs the support. I really hope that she does well with the third surgery. Hopefully, she'll keep the same doctor. He has been tough on her, and has not minced words. Some of us need that kind of "tough love". -

I'm watching the show now. Olivia has already had 2 weight loss surgeries. Wow. I hope that the third works for her and that she addresses her issues that are causing her to overeat. -
African American Sleevers
keish_lorraine replied to ATLGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have told my best friend and my mother about my decision to have surgery. My mother has been encouraging me to have the surgery for years. She understands and has witnessed my struggle with my weight for some time. She has been my biggest cheerleader (and critic...but I digress ). I told my best friend, because I know that I can trust her. A few years back, I was scheduled to have Lap-Band surgery and she was in my corner 100%. I agree that it is "my" decision to make. That's the main reason that I have not shared with anyone else. I have a church friend who had gastric bypass. The negativity that received and is still receiving is quite appalling. I want to avoid that kind of negative and remain positive about my situation. -

Who Are You?
keish_lorraine replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm Keisha. I'm from Wilmington, DE. I'm 34 years old, and I am a police dispatcher. I love to enjoy life. My motto is that I will do anything as long as it's both moral and legal. I love to travel. I love to read. I'm a geek and a techie. I love to meet new people. I'm currently pre-op. If all goes well for me, I'll likely have my surgery in May or June. I'm really happy that I found this website. I'm learning a wealth of information. I believe that this site will help to prepare me on this journey. I'm nervous and excited. Feel free to share any encouragement or valuable information. It will all be appreciated. -

Hello Everyone, I'm Keisha. I'm new to the whole sleeve process. Actually, I just began my pre-op procedures in December. I'll likely have surgery in May or June. I'm excited and nervous about the entire process. I'm encouraged as I read posts from veteran sleevers on this site. I would appreciate any encouragement and advice that any of you have to offer.
