    My sleeve Day 1

Hi Everyone, I'm 12 days out now and can hardly believe I had surgery because I feel so awesome! I started eating cottage cheese and shaved roasted turkey deli meat (chewed til pureed) last week on day 7 cuz I was a bit sick of the sweet protein drinks and getting hungy. It went down fine with no trouble at all. So, I started adding more stuff I could chew. I had grilled lamb and oven roasted brussel sprouts for dinner last night. Yum!!! Doing fantastic and getting all my nutrients in according to my Fitness Pal app. I eat about a cupful of food at a sitting for meals. A little confused on the RDA for iron supplements though. I adjusted my app to have a calorie goal of 1000. I took an iron supplement and it threw me over 300% of daily requirement. The supplement is CVS Iron (65 mg) and the bottle says it's 36% of daily requirement for an adult. My paperwork from the nutritionist says goal of 29 grams. Some websites say 25g twice a day. And so it goes on. What are your iron goals from your nutritionist? Cheers! Deb
  2. You guys are doing so awesome! My first postop appointment got rescheduled from last Friday to this coming Friday. I'm excited to be 14 lbs down already. I feel so awesome!! This is the best thing I've ever done for myself. Cheers! Deb
  3. Congrats BabySheldon! You're doing really awesome! Is that your "after" picture, cuz you look great! I can't even imagine what I'll look like when I hit goal. But it's better than fat!!! Cheers! Deb

    My sleeve Day 1

Hi Mike, I'm five days out (POD#5) now and doing really well with my Protein goals and Fluid intake. I rely on Vitamin Water Zero and unjury Protein drinks. Some are good with just water and others (like chocolate) are really good with skim milk. They aren't chalky or gritty and they taste really great. The unflavored Unjury smells a little funny but is tasteless when mixed with broth or Soup. Somehow I really lucked out and got over the gas bloating on POD#1 and back to work on POD#2. Today I'm sitting in my hotel room in Burbank since I started up my weekly travel back and forth from Las Vegas to LA area to for a software implementation. Cheers! Deb

    My sleeve Day 1

Last night I had a chocolate unjury packet with a container of Jif single serve Peanut Butter. Put that plus 8 oz of skim milk in my Magic Bullet and OMG that was the best drink ever. It was like drinking a peanut butter cup! It was a great way to get that dab of fat grams I was missing at the end of the day according to my food diary. Shel - try that rather than trying to take in a thick pasty peanut butter ball. I'm back at work today. Can't believe surgery was only 2 days ago. Haven't noticed any weight loss yet, I still weigh the same as Wednesday when I went to the hospital. I haven't had a BM yet though. Plumbing is working though cuz I can fart! Ha! (TMI?). For any of you having that painful gas bloating try the GasX strips that melt on your tounge. I needed one after the milk and peanut butter last night. Cheers! Deb

    My sleeve Day 1

Congrats on all of your progress post-sleeve! I had my revision first thing yesterday morning. Procedure only took an hour because there was no scarring around the band. I was home by 11am. I took a 2 hr nap when I got home. I managed about 20 oz of Water and 3/4 can of reduced sodium with one scoop of unjury chicken Protein. Had a little discomfort from the gas bloat. Today has been awesome! No gas pain. Minimal pain around the largest incision placed where my port used to be. I have 5 incisions. I've met my Fluid and protein goals. Lots of walking. Hubby and I can't believe how great I feel. Cheers! Deb

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

Day 1 postop and feeling fabulous! I'm meeting my fluid and protein goals. Pain is minimal, only around the big incision where they took the port, lapband, and excised stomach out. I have 5 incisions. No nausea at all today. My hubby and I can't believe how great I'm feeling. I hope all of you have a similar experience. I've read a wide range of outcomes. Cheers! Deb

Re-NUDE, yes band removal and VSG in the same surgery. Dr Hanna does these as an outpatient procedure.

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

Hi everyone! First, congrats to all who had their surgery and hope you have an easy recovery. I was sleeved first thing this morning and feeling pretty good. The whole thing done in an hour. Dr said it was easy lapband removal. Surgery started about 7:30am and I was home by 11:00am. Was feeling queasy and a little uncomfortable from the gas. Took a 2 hour nap when I got home. Now walking and sipping my reduced sodium chicken broth with a scoop of Unjury chicken. Doing great, no nausea, pain scale maybe a 1. Cheers! Deb

    My sleeve Day 1

Hi Shel, I'm so glad I found your journal! I had the lapband in Jan 2008 and did great for the first 3 months and then blew it after I moved. Once I discovered I could eat and drink anything (including beer) it was all over. I get my revision from band to sleeve in 2 days. Just started my clear liquid preop diet this morning. I too, love the unjury powder. Used that alot with the lapband surgery and am using it again. It's been so great following your daily journal pre and post op. I'm scared but ready. You are truly an inspiration. Cheers! Deb

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

I started my clear liquid preop diet today. Doing good so far, kinda hungry though. The low sodium chicken broth with a scoop of chicken flavored Unjury protein powder is pretty satisfying. Surgery is first thing Wednesday morning. Can't believe how fast the surgery date came up. Cheers! Deb

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

So I find myself doing the last meal/last beer binge before the life-changing surgery on Jan 8th. Food not so much as the beer. I'm not physically addicted but sure am habitually addicted. This is going to be a hard transitition but I'm dedicated and motivated to go to preop diet Monday the 6th. I hope I can reach out to you when I leave those beers behind. I met a new future sleeve buddy (Lucy) who gets surgery later in the month in Mexico. I look forward to sharing our experience/triumphs/failures with each other. Blessed be to all the Jan 2014 newly sleeved friends!!! Cheers! Deb

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

Howdy! I'm Deb and I just joined your forum. I've been himming and hawing about getting a revision from lap band to sleeve for the last six months. Finally decided to go for it. My insurance (TriCare) doesn't cover the sleeve, so my DH and I are sucking it up and going the cash pay route. Assuming my nutritionist consult gets scheduled, my psych evaluation approved, and my medical clearance granted, I'm scheduled for first thing Wednesday morning January 8th at North Vista Hospital in Las Vegas. My surgeon is Dr. Bernie Hanna. I had the lap band put in January of 2008. I've been a flop at using the tool, moved 3 months postop after losing 21 lbs. Discovered that I really had no restriction and could easily tolerate carbonated beverages and went back to my old habits. So, almost 6 years later I weigh 10 lbs more than surgery date in 2008! :-( I'm regaining control and going for it. I'm reading alot about preop diets of 1 or 2 weeks. Dr. Hanna just wants me on liquids starting 2 days preop. Cheers! Deb p.s. I selected a ticker, but can't figure out how to attach it to my post...
