We have the same surgeon When I'm hungry, I either 1) drink some Water 2) Get up to use the bathroom or walk around the office and chat for a second 3) pop in a piece of gum. If none of those help, I'll make sure its close to lunch time and eat my lunch, or eat one of the Protein packed Snacks I brought to work.

LOVE!!! congrats!!!

No, but from looking at the map, its right next to Great Bridge HS, which is that nicer part of chesapeake i was talking about.

I'm right there with you! Which is why low-carb diets were always my go-to for weight loss. haha

I'm lap-band, but I live in Powhatan and work in Midlothian. Congrats on your upcoming surgery! Where are you having it?

3rd week... IM STARVING
betty_s replied to tiki luv banded's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@tiki luv banded i'm right there with you, just about a week ahead. i can stay pretty full from my Breakfast, because my band is still pretty tight in the morning, i can eat real food though. after lunch is when the hunger hits me, i eat my small meals, but only stay full for an hour or two. i've learned to pack some Protein packed Snacks at work so i'm not gnawing off my arm. i've also been chewing on gum when i feel the hunger peek up, and that, plus some Water, can sometimes hold me over. i have put myself on a low carb diet for now, only because my doctor stresses protein first, then veggies, and if theres room for starches, then have some, but i really havent had room. i got lucky and my NP had a spot open for a fill that would put me at 5 weeks post-op, versus the normal 6 weeks post-op most people have to deal with. Hang in there, I find most of the time its head hunger that is what I'm really feeling. I'm less hungry on the weekends when I'm out and about, because I'm not sitting there thinking about it. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here! -
I'd stay away from Portsmouth. I lived in VA Beach for 5 years during and year after college. Portsmouth was pretty rough. Suffolk, I've driven through going to and from and there's one really good movie theatre over there haha. It seems pretty rural/less developed than the other cities. I lived on the Va Beach/Chesapeake city line for a year and really liked the area. It was diverse, but its wasnt a bad area by any means. A little further in Chesapeake, its VERY nice.. I had a friend who went to Great Bridge HS, and from how she was raised, it seems like it would have been a really nice public HS. Something I wouldn't mind my own kids going to now. I really love that area down there. I cant tell you about school systems, since I was obviously in college, and didnt go to schools in that area growing up.

Breakfast: 1 to 1.5 eggs scramble with a sprinkle of cheese, and either a piece of turkey bacon or 2 lil smokey turkey sausages. Snack: atkins advantage bar or 1-2oz cheese or Quest bar or sf choc Jello mixed with 1/2 scoop of unflavored unjury Protein powder. lunch: 2-4 oz of sliced turkey meat, cauliflower and some hummus post workout: Protein shake. just protein shake mixed with Water. dinner: 4 oz of protein, usually ground turkey/chicken/bison, or fish/tilapia/orange roughy. with veggies i make sure every meal i have protein, and eat that first before i touch anything else. if i'm full off the protein portion, i'm fine with that.

Seems like most doctors do 6 weeks out. I'm lucky and get 5 weeks post op next wednesday. Everyone assured me fills are a breeze. My first is under fluoroscopy so they can check how everything is moving.

BIOTIN! Or hair, Skin, and Nails. YOu can get it at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe (or drug stores) and they're pretty cheap. I cant keep my nails SHORT enough anymore, I've been taking it for 6 weeks.

officially 1 month post-op! 32 lbs down! I LOVE MY LAPBAND.

From the album: Post-Op

my sister did it, after insanity! she said it was good for beginners, and not as intense as insanity, so thats reassuring!

so, i'm sitting here working on month-end stuff and i look at the calendar and it hits me, my first fill is NEXT WEDNESDAY! my NP was happy to schedule my first fill at 5 weeks post-op, versus 6 weeks, which i'm so grateful for! i've been eating 1/2 to 3/4 of food, and it really isn't holding me over. even my morning meals aren't holding me as long. as excited as i am, this was the part of lap-band surgery that i feared THE MOST! going into surgery, i knew the worst part was going to be the IV, yeah i had some port pain/soreness afterward, but i've read some of these stories where the doctor can't find the port and it scares the s*** out of me to get stuck by a needle multiple times! i absolutely HATE needles, someone PLEASE reassure me that these fills aren't as bad as i'm making it to be!

thanks everyone!! @@enjoythetime we're seriously the same person!
