Cats Vs Dogs (Share your pet pics)

My baby. First dog I've ever owned by myself (not a family pet). He was the worst puppy, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Yum!!! This sounds soooo good! Before surgery, I tried turkey burgers with avocado cubes mixed in. Along with some s+p and garlic powder. SO good too! Can't wait to get back to eating these kinda of recipes!! If you have pinterest I can send you the pin!

    delayed onset muscle soreness

I've always been most sore 2-3 days after a good workout.. Pre and post op. I find the best way to cut down on it is I sit in the sauna at my gym for about 15-20 mins directly after my workout, while drinking my Protein shake. Stretching in the shower helps too. DOMS is completely normal.
  5. I was in the EXACT SAME position as you were about 3 months ago. I had decided in jan of last year I wanted the band. Did the 12 month insurance required health coaching, then when I met up with my surgeon again, he refused to give me the lap band. He said I was way too big (5'7" 295ish) to be successful. He rescheduled me with the other surgeon in his office later that day. I left the office BAWLING. I knew in my gut that the lap band was right for me. I'm still young, 26, and I didn't want to removed 80% of my stomach. Luckily, the next surgeon was SUPER supportive. Said since I was young and already active, I should be successful. Yes, it might take some more work than the sleeve, but I'm happy with my decision. I was banded 11 days ago and have lost 21 lbs since the pre op diet about 3.5 weeks ago. Do what you want to do, don't let anyone away your opinion.

I thought that too, maybe try adding a protein shake? Instead of trying to fit more in our pouch?

My doctor told me not to worry about calories, just protein, so I haven't been counting, but I can't imagine it's more than 700-900 calories. I'm only eating 3 meals a day, focusing on the protein first.

I think so. I'm pretty sure our bodies are trying to re balance. From what I've heard 1-2 a week is to be expected here on out. I'm a little disappointed because I haven't lost any since my 1 week checkup on Thursday and they moved me to mushies.. When I steady losing, on average, a pound a day before that.. I've cut carbs out of my diet and only eating the 1/2 C of food so I was expecting it to stay steady, but I guess not.

    First post-op today

I've been doing eggs, egg salad, store bought chicken salads, applesauce + Greek yogurt + cinnamon, sf pudding cups, even had some ground turkey with frontega taco skillet sauce + an egg white - just made sure to chew well. My doc put me on phase 1 + 2 mushies for the next two weeks.

Doing good! About 11 days post op. Haven't lost any since I moved to mushies Thursday, but I guess that's to be expected. 21 lbs since pre op diet tho! I got the ok to workout on Thursday, so after a weekend out of town, I went to the gym today and swam some laps. I'm still pretty tender on my port side. But I got about 30 mins in. I feel like I'm the only one here who is still having some pain/tenderness from the port. Food is going good. Trying to teach myself good habits of eating slow and chewing well, which my former self knew nothing about. 3 meals of 1/2 cup are keeping me plenty full. Went to chipotle yesterday and had the sofritas (tofu) with some guac/sour cream/veggies and it was awesome to feel like I could eat "out" again. I had about 7 small bites and was full, SUCH a weird feeling. I've only felt discomfort once with food and I know it's cause I was eating too fast, as soon as I slowed down, everything was fine. Glad to hear you're doing well dlamp112!

Dlamp112 yep! Doing good! Had my one week follow up yesterday and got moved to mushies. 21 lbs down from the start of pre op diet. Pain is only present if I toss and turn in my sleep.

    Protein bars

Yes!!! So good! The apple pie is good heated up, with a little frozen Greek yogurt or nonfat cool whip.. Just like apple pie and ice cream. Mmm! Some people prefer cookie dough in the microwave, but the oven actually bakes it more so it has more of a crust, is only take 5-8 mins.

I freak at the thought of needles, but surgery wasn't that bad. You have your iv, and that's really all you feel. I had blood drawn that night in the hospital, and a shot to prevent blood clots. As much as I hate them, they didn't bother me. Now, can't say anything about fills, but I hear they are just a pinch

For the love of sweet Jesus.....

Same thing has happened to me. I'm pretty tech savvy, but every time I search something, it comes up at no results. So I just stopped searching. If you don't like redundant topics, skip over them! Like other have said. For us newer members, it's nice to get support directed right towards us, instead of taking away from someone else's thread.

    If I could diet.....

The pre and post op diets seem extreme, but I found that knowing I would be banded made me more willing to follow them. The pre op diet is for shrinking the liver, and I also think it helps you prepare for less food post op. My preop diet was 2 Protein shakes during the day, 4 oz of protein at night, and unlimited veggies all day. I did 2 days of Clear Liquids the last two two pre op days, because I wanted to be sure my liver was ready! I'm 7 days post op and have not felt hunger yet. I have 2 Protein Shakes plus creamy Soup (mixed with protein powder). Today I was moved to mushies, but 1/2 cup of chicken salad filled me up. I had A LOT of pain post op from my port area. It was really hard to get up and down from the bed/couch. I was only expecting gas pain and I didn't get any of that. I took off Thursday ( may 8 ) to this Friday and I'm glad I did, because I get tired very easily. Best of luck to you!! It will be all worth it in the end!!!
