December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Kiap82 replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sorry you're having a setback! I was overly cautious and still won't bend over or lift anything! (lucky I have an amazing husband). Do you have any pain meds or taking any Tylenol? I had horrible pain there that only stopped yesterday, and my surgery was the 13th. I'm sorry I don't have any words of wisdom for you but I hope you recover quickly and hopefully have something for pain. I have some pain meds and they dull the pain but don't even come close to resolving it. I am 31And even at 320 pounds was relatively active. I live alone in a three story town home and I've had to resort to calling my mom to come over and do things for me. She is very willing and loves to help but I feel like a invalid and am so frustrated. I can't do laundry, load the dishwasher, pick up things from the floor, and it takes me almost 5 minutes to put in socks because of the bending. I'm just sad and frustrated. -
December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Kiap82 replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all! I am 19 days out and was doing really great until last weekend. I was picking up all the dog toys off my living room floor and began to get sore in my lower left abdomen area just below the tethering stitch. Ever since then I have had significant pain if I move the wrong way, sitting especially. I can no longer bend over, sleep on my sides, or do ANYTHING quickly. I am frustrated because I was feeling so good and I feel like I set myself back. I called the doc and they said I did too much and this is a normal side effect that can happen. But now it's been a week and it's not getting any better! I have a call into today after a horrible nights sleep with pain that brought tears to my eyes. I have no fever, am getting fluids and protein in for the most part, and over all am feeling good. But this really hurts and really frustrates me. I'm hoping other might know what I'm talking about and be able to give me advice about how long it lasts or at least general support. -
Oregondaisy- I have used all of the sites at one point or another. I have had the best luck with POF but it's more work that the others. I call it dumpster diving because you have to sort through a lot of trash to find anything worth possibly keeping. Match.com works well for a lot of people, but I think that at 300 pounds I was too heavy for most of the men and what they were looking for. When I am thinner I plan on maybe trying it again. OK Cupid is interesting and tells you a lot about the person but all those people are on POF or Match too so I think it's kind if a waste of time. If you want to, make it clear to him that you will have separate rooms, maybe even in different hotels. Always meet somewhere, never let them pick you up. The one nice thing about not being at home is you don't have to let them know where you live. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I generally don't let anyone know where my house is until after the third or fourth date. A girl has to be careful these days!

I'm only two and half weeks out but I often did online dating when I was at my heaviest. I plan on resuming, if I haven't met anyone, after my six month post op. I would always use pictures the hid my biggest parts and would worry when I met the men that they would be upset that I was bigger than I thought. Of course they never said anything but I am looking forward to posting pics of me smaller than ever on those sites. I do think that sex comes sooner with online relationships. I believe it is because you spend time getting to know them through messages before you actually meet. I think this allows us to be more intimate sooner. But those are my two cents and no one else's.

Can someone tell me what dumping is?
Kiap82 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I keep seeing this on the threads but don't know what it is. My surgeon told me that it count happen with the sleeve so I haven't ever really looked into it. What causes it? What does it feel like? What happens? -
My doctor wants me on birth control for the first year following surgery. I am totally fine with that but have always used the Depo shot. I have heard from pretty much everyone that it makes you gain weight. I'm 11 days out, should I be concerned this will slow my progress? Any one have any experience with this?

I googled it also. That's not really what I'm asking. I'm asking what is it like in the real world. What does it feel like? What foods cause it? Etc. -
So is our starting weight what we weigh Friday morning?

I live in Denver and although most if what you have stated is accurate there are some things that I could clear up for you. Colorado legalized pot for several reasons. 1. To tax the hell out of it and give the money to the school system. 2. To regulate it so people got what they paid for and nothing laced or fake or anything like that. Buying pot in the street can be dangerous and you don't know what you are getting. 3. Pot tourism looks to bring a lot of money to Colorado. People with out of state drivers licenses can not buy as much as a state resident but they can come to Colorado and purchase and enjoy. Also, pot may not be consumed openly on the streets it in public areas. It may be consumed on your property or in privately owned businesses where NO alcohol is served. Don't think you come to Denver and see people hitting bongs while they walk down the street. The state has also imposed high driving laws similar to drunk driving laws. You are not allowed to smoke while driving or be high. They pull you over and test you. No where in the street is pot $25 an ounce. People currently pay more on the street for the same pot you buy with a medical card because someone had to go but it first then sell it to you. So the cost will likely go down for consumers purchasing it legally. I am not a regular pot smoker. I have smoked it on occasion for recreational purposes but since I am only 15 days post op I will wait until I am feeling a little better to try it again. I support all peoples opinions on this matter but have found that most people who oppose recreational pot have never smoked it.

Burning pulling pain left lower stomach..9 days post op
Kiap82 replied to brittdSiegel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just talked to my doctor about this same issue. She asked what I did yesterday (when it started) and I told her I just picked up my living room, cleaned up all the dog toys, organized my pantry, and unpacked from Christmas. It was less than two hours of activity!! She scolded me and said that 12 days out I should be resting, not cleaning and that I had pulled on my stitches. She said to take my pain meds and sit my ass down for then next couple days! I'm so bored, but at least the pain will keep me settled for a while. She said it could take up to a week to go away!!!! -

Please help. new post op question. sharp pain
Kiap82 replied to Hevans's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm hoping this is what is going on with me. I think I overdid it physically and now I have this sharp pain in the lower left portion of my abdomen that even hurts around to my back. It's just below that indented stitch. I've been trying to rest but it hurts if I'm sitting up right. Standing, laying back and even walking a little and it's ok but sit wrong and the thing kills!!! -
How do you know youre full?
Kiap82 replied to Halfpint1218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am wondering this same thing. I'm 12 days out and have been steadily able to drink more food. I used to be only able to get 4 oz of a protein shake or thin soup down but now it's more like 8oz. I concerned that I'm stretching out my pouch or doing something I shouldn't. I stop when I get that still in the esophagus feeling but my stomach doesn't really give me any indicators. I'm on liquids for 9 more days!! -

I was told two different things about straws. The paperwork the hospital gave said no for 4 weeks and the doctor's office paper work said no straws ever ever again?!?!?! -
Thanks! I rested most of the morning and then rearranged my pantry. As soon as I started to get sore again I listened and rested. This tethering stitch just pulls and aches but I'm trying hard not to take the liquid Vicodin the doc gave me. I'm sure cause I had a high starting weight, 313 day of surgery, that the stress in the stitch will be heavier. I'll survive, just being impatient right now.

I'm 11 days out and spent last night driving around doing casual shopping at a couple stores. I had returned to work the day before but I have a pretty sedentary desk job. I was feeling great until I got home last night and got tired and sore. Did I over do it? This morning I feel sore still and tired after a full nights sleep. I picked up some B-12 hoping that will help but I'm starting to get bored. When will I start being able to resume a normal activity level let alone work out?

Have you ever experience pain on left side under rib cage?

That tethering stitch is rough! I can't wait for that to go away!
