Introducing myself: Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery
kata13 replied to RNYjane's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, my stats are similar and my doc says iam right on track and doing great. I think many of us no matter how much research thought we would drop 40 to 50 lbs right off. I went through classes and never heard of such a slow loss as 25lbs in 7 weeks. However many were a lot heavier. I was able to eat all kinds of things within weeks after surgery but now my pouch is changing that. Had my first true vomiting when I ate some processed meat that I was able to eat weeks earlier. Also smelled my Protein shake that never smelled before . I guess it just took time for my pouch to talk back. I was also embarrassed to return to work because I didn't think I lost enough. However when I look at it realistically I wasn't able to loose more than 15lbs dieting many months before surgery. I will be happy as long as I keep losing and building my strength. Still learning but getting smaller. -
I did the same thing as I wanted to know what was going to cause me problems or so I told myself. I was able to get back on track once I got it out of my system.

My fav.....homemade refried beans and soft scrambled eggs with salsa.
-
My new favorite protein shake includes coffee. I have not resumed drinking more than that though.

Since you mentioned being in the er, I would guess that they checked you for strictures?

Know anyone with a metal detector? Not sure if it would work if it fell under the porch because of the clearance. Maybe a hoe to scrape it out? -
That is truly disturbing. All we want is to be healthy. Prayer to you and your daughter.

I am so sorry and got tears as I read this. One of the reasons I got RNY was because of my mom. Not just her weight but her lack of enjoying life and her mental health have both been an influence. Her weight ballooned along with mine but has not gone down. My dad still gives her things she should not have. We are still able to care for her at home but she is declining too fast. I can only hope to influence my parents diet with healthier options. God bless!

Hw248 Sw 228 Dos 12/26/13 Cw 208 I too thought weight would drop faster. Really trying to not get down and I am hanging in there as this is a journey and not a race. -
I too got so use to not wearing smaller necklaces that I too was shocked that they now fit comfortably. I love these surprises!

It does seem to be different for each person. I had no pain medicine from end of day two. Never had an injectable pump in hospital either. Was I comfortable at all times....no but it was tolerable and was only hurting for a few seconds when turning from side to side in bed. It appears that certain nerves can be cut or inflamed increasing pain in others. Hang in there.

kata13 replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chilli with black beans -
I can bring it up with little effort. I try to catch it before it becomes a problem as I don't want this to become an automatic response.

Any veterans want to share information about getting treatment?
kata13 replied to omahajimmyt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
6 to 12 month program is common. -
Yes the "Penny" episode was sad. I would expect that the show would have more mental health treatment. There's no way anyone can get that heavy without some serious issues going on.

two weeks out and not losing
kata13 replied to spainter2009's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you look back on topics you will see I posted the same thing two weeks out. Just concentrate on water and protein. I was allowed by dr and could eat more things then others too. I personally was glad because I can only stand the shakes once a day or two, lol. -
Perfectly normal but a prayer sent! See you on the losers bench.

Homemade spaghetti sauce with lean hamburger. Yummy! -
I would go to emergency room or clinic. Get treatment while you can. It could be lots of things. Gallbladder, twisted bowl. No need to chance it if you are having that much pain.....sorry just retread that u have no insurance.....call your dr anyway.
