Favorite go to post op foods?
DebbieRenee replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I just had my band-to-sleeve surgery 1/7 my favorite has to be the applesauce that comes in a squeezable tube...flavors apple/strawberry and apple/peach...the costco chocolate Protein shakes are BEST and have 30 gms of protein!! I also love cottage cheese with crushed pineapple, I use some of the juice on it too. I also bought Jello Band pudding but stopped the pudding it was too rich and upset my tummy. Tomato Soup too! Yum! liquids...chicken noodle soup with no noodles. BEST WISHES TO YOU LAPNICKY -
Band to sleeve on wednesday, advice?
DebbieRenee replied to wwled's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Erin I am so EXCITED for you...I went from band to sleeve 1-07-14 and LOVE it! No more acid reflux and no more stupid band issues! My band was either too tight, threw up all the time or too lose! And out of all the surgeries in my lifetime, it was by far the best and had the quickest recovery! Less pain than the band!! I am down 19lbs and feel great most days but am tired a lot...most likely due to the change in my diet. You will LOVE the Sleeve! so much nicer and man do I get full faster and none of that food getting stuck in my sternum - hated that with the band. Post Op= you will be tired and won't really want to drink much but you will have to make yourself...LOTS of Protein shakes ready in your fridge, along with Jello, apple juice, yogurt and bottles of Water. Most important you need a good laxative...Milk of Magnisia (sp) or Colace. Post on here when you're post op so I know how you are doing. You will get to have some broth and even some Soup after surgery - I had tomato and let me tell you after fasting before surgery you will think its awesome! No need for nerves you will do GREAT! Take Care Debbie -
I'm disappointed....
DebbieRenee replied to EggWithLegs's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dear eggs...I am 3 1/2 weeks past surgery and have only lost 19lbs...I feel a little down about it as I watch "My 600lb Life" and man do they lose weight! But I try to remember with or without 90% of my stomach - this weight was not put on overnight so it will not come off overnight. I try and drink more Water and stay away from the scale...it can wobble up and down and is not always accurate so only weigh when you go to the Dr. Do you walk at all? This is the best thing you can do. Keep your chin up it will get better!!! Regards, Debbie -
Dear JLMCKEE, You need to be careful. Your Mom is completely right! Only 1 week out you need to stay laying down and maybe take a wee walk around your street with fresh air. Losing 90lbs prior to surgery??? YOU'RE MY HERO!! I bet you are down even more. Anyway try and take it easy and take you meds!! Especially your chewable vitamin!! Take it easy. Best Wishes - Debbie

Feeling Lethargic
DebbieRenee replied to DebbieRenee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To LRG2014 Thank you so much for responding....I want to do more but am so exhausted. I too went back to work after 2 weeks and have a desk job but man all I want to do is lay down....I am even eating real food + a Protein shake at night. Today for lunch I am having a 1/2 of salad with no croutons, an some chicken. LRG how have you been able to get past being so tired at work? Also I caught a nasty cough thats been handing on for over a week straight...its chest congestion and man I cannot sleep which makes this all worse. How are you doing? Do you have any nausea? For excercise I try just to move every day...even if its just walking the dog around the block- just anything. Whats your real name because LRG doesn't sound good it sounds like LARGE and you are looking so good. Anyway lets keep in touch and encourage one another ok? Warmest Regards, Debbie -

unflavored protein?
DebbieRenee replied to newme101513's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought frozen strawberries and added the juice to my plain Protein shake its awesome, or you could use pear juice or peaches...just be creative. Have fun with it and try and change the way you see it. I do not think protein has a texture....its just a little thicker. Take Care -

Hi Linda, did you feel a little shaky with the change in diet? I had a bad stomach bug this last week that lasted 4 -5 days and could barely eat but I did hydrate and was soon able to eat yogurt and some tomato soup....and feel better but wondering if that is how I am going to feel all the time. Shaky and weak? Your advise is GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks -

Good Morning, how are you feeling today? I have my surgery Tuesday so I thought we might be able to encourage one another. I hope you are doing GREAT and keep your focus on the positive outcome of all you are going through now. Your emotions may be up and down with the change in eating habits as I have discovered the last week of eating the skimpy Bariactric diet in prep for surgery and OK it did help that I had a horrible stomach bug Well you hang in there and take it easy. Gods Blessings and healing to you- Deb -

Hello Skinny Minnie, Most insurance companies require... *BMI of at least 40 *Have tried a lot of different types of programs - ie, Weight Watchers, Slim Fast, Jenny Craig, Nutra System and so on,,,,but keep PUSHING BACK...you have a lot of other qualifications..asthma, high cholesterol, depression, anxiety, and GERD. Did they do a sleep study for you? I would definitely appeal. And if you've tried anything any other diet method tell them no matter how silly. I told my Dr I even tried the Cabbage Soup diet.... Hang in there!!

Big Day Tomorrow 12-11 And I Feeling In The Dumps
DebbieRenee replied to Bobby Smith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That makes me so sad that someone would say that to you....I hope things have changed since 12-10 .... Don't listen to ignorant people whose motivations for such awful words may be in question. Keep smiling Bobby you're doing GREAT! I admire you for losing so much before surgery thats hard and takes a real will for success!! GO FOR IT Bobby!! Let us know how you're doing. -
Laura, don't you listen to them. Your Dr was just having a crappy day. And I bet those family members are just jealous. Don't let anything or anyone derail your excitement about your pending surgery! I'm having the sleeve from a band and trying to cut down what I eat but its hard cause nothing has changed yet...tell them to cut you some slack. I have surgery Tuesday 12-31 and my Dr told me people will try and discourage you out of ignorance and jealousy. STAY STRONG. No one but God has the right to judge you. You keep smiling and BE EXCITED....your new life awaits!! You'll do GREAT!!!

The Official What You Will Need For Your Upcoming Weightloss Surgery Thread!
DebbieRenee replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Regarding supporting your tummy when moving...my idea is SPANX! It will hold your tummy in when you get up or move. I had bad experience with this issue when I had the band...my tummy hung down a bit and it felt like I was carrying a bag of cement and it hurt!
