Taking care of kids after bypass

I agree if you can afford it have your husband stay home a few days. I have 4 small boys my surgery is Jan 20. I have someone coming into my home for 4 weeks to help out. I should mention that I am having open surgery so it requires longer down time. Good luck with your surgery!

My surgery was on 12/30 last Monday so I'm right there with you. I have slept in the recliner a couple times and it has been pretty comfortable. My biggest challenge right now is getting in at least 800 calories-never thought I'd be saying that. My protein and liquid #'s are good but I've only been eating about 400-500 cals- don't want my metabolism to slow. Are you counting the calories from your protein mix for the 400-500 cals?
  7. Good luck to all of you that have your surgery this week!

    help a lady out :)

I went to my pcp first and asked him if he had any other patients that had rny. I had done my research and found my own very qualified surgeon. My pcp sent in the referral and now 1 year later I am 2 weeks before my surgery. I have a very good relationship with my pcp and he has seen and heard all my struggles with weight loss so who better to have in my corner then him!
  10. Good luck!! Happy losing to you!

We have all tried to lose weight time and time again! If we could have done it without surgery we would have! After every diet I have regained the weight I lost plus some more! This is a last resort and a decision not made lightly. Insurance companies should realize that. I was fortunate in the sense that I only needed approval for my travel costs. Unfortunate that I did not get the classes except for 1 nutrition class. My support is mainly coming from these forums. Thank you all for your posts and encouragement!!

  18. Hi hear you! I just want to eat eat and eat! Anything in sight will do! If I lived close to fast food joints I am sure I would be there. My fear is after surgery I will just want to keep right on eating!

    4 Years Post-Op

Wow amazing! Great job! I start my journey Jan 20th. I love reading success stories. I hate exercise but I know it will have to part of my life! I live in cold cold Manitoba so getting out to walk is a real challenge! I do love skating and tobogganing and my husband really wants me back on cross country skies even though I suck! I will be having open surgery because of scar tissue so getting back on skates this winter does not look promising . Thanks for sharing your story.

I looked into the sleeve and it was supposed to cost me $16,000 and I would have to fly to Toronto on my dime. I could have waited and had VSG here in winnipeg but it would mean surgery in late fall of 2014. I just want to start my journey already!
