2biglamb replied to Eroper6's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I to am not losing fast. Surgery 1/20/14. I have lost a total of 24 lbs.I walk Every day on my treadmill 2-3 miles sometimes I try jogging a bit. I have not been cleared for exercise yet I was told to wait 8 weeks. Last week I gained 1.6lbs I could have cried! I felt to defeated and wondered what I had done to deserve this! I usually weigh myself once a week (Mondays) although this week I weighed myself yesterday and had still not lost any ! I am going to try to stay positive and think of the long term. -

Yes you can if you get the high protein ones. Make sure the sugar is low. Boost has a diabetic one that is safe as well.

You look great!! Keep it up!

You look great Jaci!! Great job! Thanks for the update! -
I hear you about the shoes. However I can't afford to buy a pair a shoes now and again in a few months if my shoe size changes. Did this happen to any of you?

That was the first question I asked my surgeon after surgery. He said I could walk but nothing else until 6 weeks post op. This gives our body time to heal after a major surgery. I had a set back at 2 weeks post op so now I have to wait an extra 2 weeks to do anything other the walking . Good luck on your surgery!

Fruit yummy! Lately I have been having raspberries and mango with cottage cheese for breakfast. Last week my breakfast was banana slices with 1 tbsp peanut butter! I could never give up fruit now veggies that's a different story! Definitely check with your nut! -

Almost 4 weeks post op my favourite yoga pants keep slipping off! I tried on an almost new jacket that I had not worn in years and viola it fit!!! Even though the scale is not reflecting big numbers I went from a 22 jacket to a 16/18! This morning I told my husband I need lots of moola for some plastics! Lol! I better start saving! -
2 weeks post op weight loss
2biglamb replied to Meintraining's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My 2 week check up was basic as well. I had been told it would be though so that was all I was expecting. I was told blood work would be done at 3/6/9/12 months out and then yearly. I have my first prerequisite already for my 3 mth I did forget to ask them to check the boxes for my thyroid levels at the same time so I will have to get that done before I do my bloodwork. I am also a slow loser my first week week I lost 11 lbs I was so happy! 2nd week 2.2 lbs and last week 2 lbs ! Hoping next week will be better because after I set back I am now allowed back on the treadmill! -
Introducing myself: Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery
2biglamb replied to RNYjane's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a terrible memory side effect from graves/ thyroid. I knew going in that I would always forget to take my vitamins it's especially hard because some need to be taken several hours apart. I set my alarm on my iPhone to go off 4 times a day to remind me to take them. I also carry a small stash in my purse so that I have no excuse. For me the protein and vitamin was so stressed pre-op by my NUT! I am also a very slow loser thus far 3+ weeks post op I have only lost 16lbs . I also track all my food on MFP. Good luck! -

I bought a six pack at costco but I have seen them in most of our local grocery stores and walmart. It is a product of Thailand imported for us by Vancouver. I hope you can find them in the states. -

I don't pee often anymore either and when I do it's never a lot. I just thought my body was absorbing the water because I eat way less now. Maybe that's why I am having slow weight loss. Curious what the doctors/surgeons think of this. -

Any January 2014 Surgeries?
2biglamb replied to MekeC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told not to eat gummy Vitamins. I got stuck swallowing my Calcium pills. My girlfriend picked up some liquid for me yesterday! I can't wait to try it. The other Vitamin I have trouble with is my prenatal vitamin that I take every morning I can't swallow it whole yet so I semi smash it but it tastes like pure iron! Yuk! I put it as far back in my mouth as possible and then swig some Water. Hoping in another month or 2 I can swallow the entire pill. Down 2 lbs this week . Have a great week everyone!! -
I am on Synthroid 175mcg once a day. I am 5'1" at my highest weight I was 298. Then I signed up for the surgery on Jan 1, 2014 I weighed 256. Surgery date I weighed 246.9 Jan 20, 2014. Today is weigh in day and I weighed in at 230 a loss this week of only 2 lbs . Looking at the big picture I lost 15.9 lbs in 3 weeks so although the last 2 weeks have been very low losses when have I ever lost 15.9 lbs in 3 weeks! I just wish it was a bit higher total per week I just want to see results! I am a very patient person! I had a set back last week when the removed my staples from my open RNY. There was a large gap in the incision line that had to be glued and retaped. I was then told no treadmill for awhile. Tomorrow I plan on going back on it. Maybe that will give better results for next weigh in! Thank you so much for all the support!!

I am 3 weeks out now and weight loss is really slow ! I see so many people dropping 10 + lbs a week and here I am slow at only 2-3 a week. Is this typical of thyroid wls patients?

Good morning! I am feeling discouraged today . I see so many of you where you are having great success with losing weight and here I am and it's just slowly coming off! I know that I should not be comparing myself to anybody else. Since surgery Jan 20th I have lost a measly 12 lbs. most days I get all my fluids in and almost all of my required 60grs of protein. According to my NUT I can eat anything I want as long as I chew chew chew. I am keeping it to mostly soft foods. I have hypo thyroid/Graves disease which has always made it hard to lose weight . I was really hoping that with the surgery I would be able to lose faster. Maybe I am being to hard on myself after all 12 lbs in 3 weeks is still good better then WW or any other diet I ever tried! -

Hospital Hair care
2biglamb replied to Wallflower7522's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have medium length hair, during my 5 day hospital stay I had a wonderful nurse who asked if she could French braid my hair! She did it for me twice! I asked her if she did this for lots of her patients and she said she almost never did it however she loves to braid. She told me that I looked like someone who would like her hair braided. I had wonderful nurses! If you can ask a friend to braid it for you. -
Question about vitamins
2biglamb replied to 4meonly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are told pre natal vitamins are the best for us after surgery. Both male and females are told to take them. Not sure if this is just a Canadian advisement. Very affordable!
