  1. Except if you're a bandster, that is! Thanks for the informative article sfeiner!
  2. I was just banded last week and I had my surgery date since the end of July. I wait 5 MONTHS! Talk about the days dragging! I found LBT about a week after getting my date and I just read and read and read as much as I could! I thought January would NEVER come and now I'm 1 week post-op!! I see you've lost weight pre-op, which is great! That's basically what I did to pass the time. I did low carb starting the week after getting my surgery date up until the day of surgery and I lost 55lbs. My surgery date was a motivator to get as much weight off as possible before surgery so I would have less to lose with the band. That's not really you're situation now since you're just a few weeks away. Besides that, I'm a full time college student so I was busy with school, so I didn't have all day to think about it, which was a good thing. It can't hurt to start the diet early unless you feel like you might get burned out when you really need to be doing the diet properly and you'll give in and eat stuff you're not supposed to, which would not be a good thing. Good luck with everything! It will come soon!

    My surgery got bumped again

I'm not sure if I could handle my surgery being moved, I would probably be devastated. Then to have it moved again, I might have given up! Kudos to you Dazzle for putting up with whatever postponed your surgery!

    im home

Gillibean, I'm sure you have a very pretty liver! What qualifies for a pretty liver anyhow? LOL. Glad to hear everything went well! Thistledo, you will feel more human soon, I promise! It's amazing what a difference one day makes. Each day you will feel better than the one before. It's been 1 week and 1 day since my surgery and if you told me last week how good I would be feeling today, I would never believe you. It gets better, just keep pushing through it!

I made a couple more icons

I'm having issues with that too, not sure what's up with that. I used to be able to put 2 tickers in and now it won't let me.

    Loose skin???!!?!?!?!

I had a body wrap a few times by a friend who is a massage therapist. I don't know if it actually tightens the skin. I think what she told me is the wrap shrinks the fat cells in your body. I wonder if it does tighten the skin at the same time?

Why is the band so unpredictable?

That explains it. Each post had a different topic than the first post and had nothing to with the previous ones and they were addressed to people who hadn't even posted here!

  12. Sure no prob Chuckles. Tomorrow will be 1 week since surgery. I'm doing great! Each day I feel better and better! I can't believe it's only been 1 week. My doctor's 1 week post op diet is liquids- clear and full(pureed included), so that's what I've been doing. I've been drinking broth, slimfast low carb Protein shakes, Water and eating baby food (who knew it actually could taste good!), and cream of tomato/cauliflower Soups. I have lost quite a few pounds, but I'm waiting a full week before I update my ticker. I go to see my doc on Thursday and I presume he will give me the go ahead to move on to mushies! I think that pretty much covers it! Any more Qs?

    January 18th

Welcome pgirl! Glad you finally joined! I lurked here too for a while and I finally joined, and I'm really happy I did. The monthly forums like the Jan 08 bandsters is a great place because, like you said, we're all going through the same stuff and we can share our experiences together! Hope everything goes well for you on Friday! Good luck!
  14. I don't like to see new posts in this thread Chrisann! Hoping you're all better soon!

    Liquid Diet

LOL. Hey, beef broth tastes different! Are you on Clear Liquids only or full liquids?
  17. Hey Diane! Great to hear from you so soon! Wow, I was in no condition to post the day of surgery! Happy to hear things went so well and you're not in such tremendous pain! 20 min. of walking? WOW! I could barely walk 10 feet to get to the bathroom. Don't be worried about scaring people, you make surgery sound like a breeze! Hey greeneyez too! Glad to hear you're doing well too! It's very confusing that you just came home from an overnight hospital stay after being banded the 15th because it still IS the 15th here in the U.S.! Mind boggling!

    Starting pre op diet!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Day by day! I really admire you Diane and all of you who had pre-op liquid diets! I think I might have gone crazy if I had to be on one.....and for 2 weeks! Keep it up!

    What's ur goal?!?!?

I don't discuss numbers with anyone, except my parents and siblings. They're not judgmental about it because we're all overweight. I lost 50lbs pre-op so my friends obviously noticed my loss. In the beginning I would tell them how much I lost each week, but after a while I was like "you know what, they don't need to know how much weight I'm losing". When my good friend asked how much longer she thought I would need to get to my goal weight and I said by the end of 08, she was shocked. Apparently she doesn't realize how overweight I really am! My friends also have no idea that I had surgery. I'm on winter break from college and I had the surgery last week and I'm not planning on telling them for now. As far as they're concerned, when they see me lose weight, they'll assume it's still part of my diet i was doing the last 5 months. Not even my best friend knows!

    January - Summer 2008 Challenge

I think my starting weight is actually a little lower but I just want to make sure this weight I've lost doing liquids since being banded last week will actually stay off when I move to soft and solid foods! What's ur goal?!?!?

I have never been a normal weight so until recently, I never really thought of what goal size or weight I wanted to get to. My goal was just to lose the weight. Looking at the BMI chart, right now I am aiming for 160lbs which at 5"7, will put me at 25, just slightly over "normal range". It's almost unfathomable that I could get to such a low weight, but after reading here about so many people's successes, I know I'll be able to do it too! Don't ask me what size that will make me because I have NO idea. I'm 248 now and a size 20 so maybe I'll be a 10? Steph_cn, we're the same height. what size are you now if you don't mind me asking?

    Loose skin???!!?!?!?!

The loose skin really depends on how long your skin has been stretched for. I've been overweight my whole life so I know I'm going to have lots of loose skin. I was just banded a few days ago but I lost 50lbs pre-op and I can see the skin sagging already...yippidy do!
