It really hasn't affected my weight loss. But, that could be for any number of reasons. I have been running a lot and that may be my saving grace. But I have not yet figured out how to deal with the emotional hunger.

I had the same issue. Between my doc, my nut, and eventually a therapist, the current conclusion is I still have an emotional eating issue. Never even considered it before but yeah... Emotional eater here.

Taking whole pills
mikey856 replied to fatinthehead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started taking Centrum complete at around two months out. -
I started out with a BMI of 37 with some comorbidities. Was taking 7 different medications. Was sleeved on December 13th. Six months later I am down 88 pounds since surgery and 96 all out. No longer take any medications. BMI is at 24 now.

I'm 3.5 months out and have lost 65 pounds. I've been getting 1200 to 1500 calories in a day since I got on solid food. I've also been running every other day though. On the days that I do run I sometimes get closer to 2000 calories. Still losing 2-3 pounds a week. I have stalled twice for about a week at a time. That is expected though.

December 2013 sleevers progress
mikey856 replied to BiddyBody's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 12-13-13. As of last week I had lost 62 pounds. Everything has been going good til this week. I gained 4 pounds. The only thing that has changed is my doctor had me stopped taking my BP medicine. It had HCT(water pill) in it. Hopefully It's just water weight. So other than that have had no issues with any foods. Been having to buy clothes a lot. -

Three goals in one day!
mikey856 replied to jess9395's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I kind of did the same thing two weeks ago. Finished C25k and fell below 200 pounds. Started on the 10k trainer last week. I hope to be able to complete a half marathon by the end of the year. -
I have lost over 50 pounds in the last two months(that includes the pre op diet). It is very noticeable and people at work always ask how I did it. I usually just tell them. Haven't had any negative response yet.

I dropped from 42 at surgery to 38 a month out. Now at six weeks those pants are already getting loose on me. New belt is helping out.

How can you tell you're losing weight?
mikey856 replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Little over 5 weeks and I haven't noticed any change in the mirror. But I have lost 32 pounds since surgery(42 if you include pre op diet), and have dropped 4 pant sizes. Also had two women hit on me this week. That was kind of neat. -

Anyone have such an easy time that it made you nervous? When does FULL feeling kick in?
mikey856 replied to staceyp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here. I still haven't really figure out how to tell that I'm full. Sometime I hiccup. Sometimes I feel full like before surgery. And sometimes nothing. I started just measuring out all of my meals so that I don't overeat. Have no problem with getting my fluids in. I'm worried that because I don't feel any restriction, I may be eating too much. I have read on this forum of people that are in a similar situation, and start to have the restriction later. -
getting a cold post op..
mikey856 replied to gomekast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little more than three weeks post and I came down with a cold a few days ago. Just been taking vitamin C. It kind of helps. I'm just kind of worried about my incision spots when I cough. -
Same thing is happening to me at three weeks. When I first started eating soft foods, I tried to eat until I was full, but quickly realized I was eating too much. I have since started measuring out what I'm going to eat. Hopefully my nerves will wake up soon as we'll.

I'm on my 11th day after surgery and started the second week diet a few days ago(mashed potatoes, pudding yogurt, etc...) I take my time eating, right around 20 minutes, to make sure I don't eat too much before I get the full feeling. But I haven't gotten full off of anything I have tried. Here's the stuff I have tried that I thought should have made me feel full. 1.5 cup mashed potatoes, 1 cup oatmeal, 2 scrambled eggs. Don't know if the stuff is just passing through or if I just don't feel the sensation of being full. Is this normal?

I talked to both my doctor and my nutritionist. They both said just about the same thing. These things that I have tried are passing through my stomach more quickly than solid food would. The food is emptying out of my stomach befoRe I finish eating. So what I started doing is just eating about a 1/4 to 1/2 cup. Will be starting on soft/puréed foods tomorrow. Hopefully will work out right.

Don't feel full three weeks post-op
mikey856 replied to lynzi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow will be two weeks or for me. Having the same issue. I have been told by my nutritionist and have read that after starting to eat some more substantial foods, I will start feeling satisfied with small amounts of food. -
I appreciate the advice. I will keep it all in mind. Thank you.
-
After talking to my nutritionist (and reading a lot about it), it seems that these full liquids just pass through the stomach for most people. When I start eating soft foods and everything after that, it should be a different story.
-
I am following my nutritionist's recommendations for what to eat. I took the time to eat and thought my stomach would tell me when to stop. I thought that my portion were kind of large so I just stopped after so much.
