Liquid Preop Diet Journal
claramae replied to mylapspirit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shelli---I am sorry to hear about your mother in law. This can be a very stressful time, as you well know by now. When I was on day 3 of my liquid diet, some friends stopped by and I got out stuff for lunch; turkey, ham, cheese, etc and worst of all THE CHIPS!!!!!!!! Can you believe that my hand kept reaching out automatic for a chip. It was unreal, but I resisted. Again, I am sorry about your family's loss. -

How Many Pounds until People started discussing your weight loss?
claramae replied to mceni's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
People amaze me!!! They have no problems commenting on how big we are or how we need to loose weight; but let us loose weight and it is like they have blinders on. Give me a break!!! you know they notice. I think they feel threatened!!! -

Liquid Preop Diet Journal
claramae replied to mylapspirit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the 2 week liquid diet that I have been complaining about. I started Monday and I have lost 7.8 pounds!!!!! Ten days to go for the surgery. I am determined to do this as per Dr. Bryce's instructions. God help us all!!! We can do this. -
When I was in the hospital 18 months ago recovering from hip replacement, my sister-in-law from Phoenix called me. She never fails to say something "catty" to me. I told her I noticed that Dillards had their summer gowns on sale and I would love to go get one. She told me that she would go get one for me and mail it to me. Then she asked me if she should get a 5X!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never been larger than a 2X. I just said in a very insulted voice "Jenny!!!" and she did not get the jest of it. Anyway, my sweet hubby went and bought one for me.

Hey Shelli16415---you and I are on the same misery path together. We also share the same date. I started my liquids on Monday. I can have the protein shakes; I put a drop of vanilla extract in mine and they taste better. I can have broth, yogart, cream soups, like tomato; thank goodness I like tomato soup. I lost 5.2 pounds by Wednesday. Just take it a day at a time. Think that the end result will be a slim and healthy you. You can do it. Hang in there. -

ADMO7, they want your liver to get rid of the fatty tissue. Plus it shows that your are commited to this. -
They want to the liver to get rid of the fat and fatty tissue. They said in the seminar that the dr. has to move the liver just a little, or lift it up, something like that and if it is too big, he cannot do it. Good luck. I will be banded on August 27

I too am new here. I joined about a week ago and this place is a tremendous help to me. I know that I am not alone and the feelings I have are shared by lots of people. Congrats on your degree. Look at what you have accomplished in your life. You should be very proud. Keep us posted. I will be banded on August 27. I am 58, retired and the grandmother of twin girls. They are the main reason I am doing this. I want to be here to see them grow up. I love them so very much.

I am retired and not in a work suitation. However, I was wanting to keep it a secret in the family. I did tell my step daughter who has had a lap band. Well word spread like wild fire through the family. But it was my foolish pride that was not wanting to admit that I needed help in loosing this weight. Hold your head up high. My band is scheduled for August 27th.

Any bandsters who are disabled?
claramae replied to Spooky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello PVCHICKIE----thanks for your reply. I too have found rude and cruel people out there. It is unbelievable what some people will say. I am not in a wheelchair. I use a cane; one of the 4 prong canes. I hope that when I loose some weight, I will be in less pain and be able to excerise. My husband wants me to join a water therapy class. Well, two things keep me from going. One, I am afraid of water and the most important reason is that I do not want to put my fat a%^ in a bathing suit. God help me, I would just as soon walk out there naked!!!! Good luck to you and keep me posted. -
I have been on liquid diet 4 days now. The hardest day was day 2. On day 3, I had to go to the Lap Band office and hear a seminar on nurtition. As I was walking out, I passed the scales and decided to weigh myself. Lord, the world has come to an end; I have lost 5.2 pounds!!! This is not so bad after all!!! LOL Hubbie and I had to run errands today. Since we live in the country and have about 13 miles to town, we usually combine our errands with either breakfast, lunch or dinner. This time it was different. I really did miss that side trip to the restaurant. Instead, we went to Wal Mart and I stocked up on broth, jello, chewalbe vitamins, etc. Also, we went by Dr. Bryce's office to pay for the surgery. I handed the check to the girl and said "Here is Dr. Bryce's check to go on that vacation to Europe!!!!:ohwell:

I have a million stories. But since it is 1:30 a.m. I will tell just one. I was pretty much keeping it a secret that I am going to have lap band. One day, my sister-in-law and her hubby were here for dinner. I confided to her. She nearly fell off the sofa. She said that she and her husband, Ben were watching Opra or Dr. Phill, one of those mindless shows and they were discussing lap band. Well, they got to discussing ME AND HOW I SHOULD HAVE LAP BAND!!!! She was so proud of herself because she had the idea first. She did not let it drop all evening. As I was cramming a burger down my throat, she told the story again. Well, this sister in law is an alcholic and I would have died before I confronted her and in front of anyone. Some people have guts!!!! I will think of more tomorrow, because I have tons!!!

Counting the cost.... no, not the $$$$
claramae replied to CallMeJim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hello KACEE AND SERENA--I am glad I am not the only ones in their 50's getting the lap band. My dr. said he has never done anyone over the age of 55, so I was worried that he would not accept me. He said he considers "the mileage a person has left"!!!! Well, excuse me, I plan on having a lot of mileage left in me. Keep in touch. P.S. I wish they were doing this when I was in my early 40's!!!!! -

To everyone that suffers from depression: I too suffer from depression and like you I was worried about the absence of food in my life. My surgery is set for the 27th of August. I am on my 4th day of my liquid diet. So far so good. I have kept the depression at bay. If fact, I feel happy about making the decision. -

Call Me Jim---I am a self pay like you. My husband and I are retired and I feel like I am putting a burden on our finances. When I asked him what he thought, he was all for it. So, we will just tighten our belts(I hope I will be able to soon) and get this done.
