So, I just started using the app MapMyWalk and its awesome! I was wondering if anyone else is using it? It counts how far you go, how long it takes and how many calories burned. It has settings for walking, hiking, biking, running etc. You should friend me! That is a good question, I am not sure. If I had to guess I think I would say maybe the times and calories are different on myfitnesspal, because the information is entered by anyone, kind of like wikipedia. You can enter how many calories for whatever exercise and anyone else who enters the same exercise will get the same choices including whether to use the previous entered calorie amount or enter their own and they may not be accurate. Like one day I played hopscotch with my kids for an hour and went to enter it and it was not listed. So I looked up ho many calories burned for playing hopscotch for 30 min and found it somewhere on google and entered it in manually on myfitnesspal, so now my results are saved for the next person who plays hopscotch lol. I am not sure if you can do this with mapmywalk. Either way, I know I am being way more active than ever before; so it is an improvement for me, even if it's not 100% accurate. How accurate do you think map my walk is? I'm only asking as the same time and exercise seems to have different calorie count on myfitnesspal? Cheers ugh always an issue with my ticker!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone had splotchy rash after surgery?
RSifers replied to wannabesleeved21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a horrible rash around all of my incisions and was told it was an allergic reaction to the glue they used in my incisions. They gave me some cream and it eventually went away. But omg the itching and burning could have driven me crazy!! Hang in there. Robi~ -
That's awesome!! Only found out about it 2 weeks ago, and have had 2 very productive weeks!!

So I just received a horrible phone call from my doctors office. According to them the hospital is closing down the bariatric program "because bariatric surgery is not in the hospitals future plans" and that means no surgery for me! I was scheduled for a week from today and have been doing a 2 shake and one meal diet since the 1st of the year!!!!!!!! So I called the hospital CEO and they told me that the office is staying open until April and I should not have to miss my surgery. Well I called back my doctors office who is now telling me the Hospital is lying to me, yes they are staying open until April but only to help patients(who have already had surgery) transfer to new clinics, so that they can get hooked in with services for fills etc. and that the hospital halted their surgery rights. At this point I am raging mad! I have worked so hard since July!!!!!! I do not think it is fair to call someone right before hand and tell them oh, too bad you are going to have to start all over somewhere else! I did get an appointment in Denver, (about 1 1/2 hours away) to restart, I can't but feel like maybe this is a sign that I shouldn't do this, or that I dodged a bullet. I have a hard time believing that that is why the office is getting closed down? Northern Colorado Medical Center is supposedly a nationwide center for bariatric excellence. ugh, discouraged and just plain pissed off! I don't know exactly what my rights are, but I have called the patient relation liaison and I will be filling out a grievance! And believe me I am very persistent, so don't be surprised if you see my fat ass on the news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So 1 month out kind of on a mini stall. Have lost 25lbs but for the last week the scale is up or down by a pound or 2 everyday. Starting exercise and went to know what works for everyone. Have been doing the biggest loser video game and ordered a spin bike that I am going to use at home while watching spin classes on YouTube. Ready to create the body I have always wanted.any suggestions?

I am right there with you about building muscle!!! I have noticed that I seem super weak, like when I try to open things or tear things. I love Michelle and her arms and would be happy looking half as good as she does. But ya, not into the idea of saggy skin and want to do as much as I can to combat it. Haven't been to the gym since about a month before surgery and I felt super uncomfortable, plus it was crowded and I had no idea how to work all of that stuff, so I think i m going to wait about 40 more pounds and work on my excersise and confidence before I give it another try. Hey is the circuit thingy kind of like curves?

What's this 'leak test' like?
RSifers replied to sarahgirrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the leak test a few hours after surgery. They wheeled me down to radiology and took an Cray with me standing up. Then gave me something cherryish mixed with crystal light and had me take a sip then hold my breath about 3 times in a row, while I turned to each side. It went OK, but ya the drink is yucky and I almost threw it up. I think the only thing that kept it down was telling myself how much it was going to hurt if I heeved.and she told me I would have to do it over as well, if I did and there was no way I was going to let that happen. Overall, the whole process from surgery to recovery has gone well for me and I was just as scared and nervous as you and everyone else. Try not to worry and instead focus on the positive! 8 days out and down 14 lbs!!!feeling good and actually looking forward to summer!! -
Wow! 10 lbs. In 8 Days.....
RSifers replied to one_more_time's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You and I had our procedures the same day and I m also getting great numbers. I was 269 at surgery and am now 255!! I can not believe it!!! My hubby keeps telling me that I shouldn't weigh myself all the time because I will become obsessed. I'm thinking, hey if it keeps me motivated then what's the harm! So so happy for you and here's to being in the 100's club!!!! -
That is all awesome news. My 1st post op is tomorrow, and I am hoping for great results as well!!!

Brand new start wuth my sleeve
RSifers replied to katieTC's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Katie. I am 5 days post-op and I am starting to feel ok again, although I am still sore. Just like you I was afraid to go home, but overall it wasn't as bad as I thought. It really made a difference for me when they took my drain out, like I felt 30% better immediately. I have been using a heating pad which helps soothe me a bit. I still have a lot of bubbles and random hiccups that cause discomfort, but I think it is getting better everyday. I am also having a hard time meeting my daily requirements for Water and Protein, but just try to do as much as I can. So far I have no regrets and it is amazing to see my scale move, so that is keeping me motivated. I don't know if any of this helps you, but just know you are not alone!!!! I wish you the best and hang in there ok! -
Tattoos after surgery and weight loss
RSifers posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Morning Everyone! I was wondering what everyone's experiences have been with tattoos after surgery? Will they shrink or distort? I have several and this thought just popped into my head last night. -
Good afternoon everyone! I am 2 days post-op and I am feeling pretty good. I just tried a Protein shake a few min ago and it seems to be settling just fine. Other than 30cc's of shake each hour, I am allowed endless Clear liquids. So far so good! Is anyone else right at the beginning of post op? I am interested in any advice or tricks of the trade that can help me succeed.

Thanks Unbesleeveable!!!!And Melissa I have just texted you!!!

Tomorrow is the big day! Feeling excited, nervous, scared...the list goes on and on. I am ready for my metamorphosis and can not stop thinking about how much things will change for myself and my family. This is what I am looking forward to- 1. NO More CPAP! I hate that thing! 1.1- Being able to breathe better 2. Being in more control of my habits, giving up habits and having the sleeve as a tool to build healthier habits 3. Shopping in the regular section for clothing and not being forced to wear ugly prints because of my size 4. Wearing a swimsuit this summer 5. Having self-confidence 6. Living longer and more actively for my kids 7. Not being judged by my size (hopefully, I am sure this happens to everyone though 8. Starting on a fitness journey that will help me complete all of my goals I want to thank everyone for their wisdom, support and friendship- You guys are amazing individuals:)

Worried/Borderline Obsesssed with Looking Older
RSifers replied to triplenmomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been thinking the same since the biggest loser as well. I have always liked the fact that I really don't have many wrinkles. I know it has something to do with being overweight and filled out. Yet at the same time its not enough to scare me away. That lady's transformation was amazing and she obviously worked really hard. I am not expecting to get to 105 like her. I can't imagine how she must feel being criticized for being thin right after feeling that way about being fat. I just want to be a better, healthier version of myself. I agree with the post above that a smile and a glow do wonders for an appearance, no matter what flaws are visible. So F the haters, and that goes for self haters too me included! -
It's Almost Time...
RSifers replied to one_more_time's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is Monday morning as well!!!! Excited and freaking out too! I love what you said about choosing the right food to fuel your mind and body because space is limited. I am going to keep that in mind always! I would love to stay in touch with everyone and give and get support from others who are going through the same thing at the same time!! 3 Days!!! O M GEEEE!
