Prevent/treat saggy skin after surgery?
RSifers replied to Curvy_Goddess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I just said vain because my goal is to eliminate health issues, and live longer. Not to look cute in a bikini, ya know? -
Oink oink before pre-op liquids?
RSifers replied to nelle1230's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
LOL. Well I am not big on Micky D's but I hear ya. I was scheduled to have lap band last month and my surgeons office was shut down by the hospital, 1 week before surgery and I had been on a liquid diet for 8 days at that point, I was so angry, and upset I killed an entire bag of chex muddy buddys. And, the sad part is it didnt even feel good, it just made me disappointed in myself. So this time around if I want a piece of candy I am having one, but just one and that way I don't go crazy from deprivation but I still get to taste the candy so it is better than nothing and its working so i am sticking with that. As for this weekend I know I can do that since I made it 8 days on the last one, so I am not sweating it and just doing the best I can. I know you will too, quitting fast food is awful at the time but it makes you feel so much better. I quit in 2010, when I decided to try an all natural vegan diet and I lost about 50 lbs, but then I just gradually started to eat cheese and dairy and was like ok, I will just be vegetarian....lol Needless to say, I have lost 24 lbs and kept it off since I started in July with the weight loss guidance of the nutritionist, and eating low cal only chicken and fish veggies and limited dairy. It helped me to go into my appointments and get weighed and have someone else see it, and either be happy for me or steer me back in the right direction. -
Prevent/treat saggy skin after surgery?

This is all I can think about ever since I watched some videos on youtube a few days ago showing before and after stories. Those videos have been bothering me more than the video of someone actually in sleeve surgery. I need to put myself in check bad, when did I get so vain? -

My surgery is Monday and I have an all clear diet for sat and sun. I have noticed the same thing! I am not proud of it, but I feel like you, I am not going to be eating this again/or for a while. I know its not a good idea to justify things, but deprivation has always made me nuts, so I am getting it out of my system I guess. I am being mindful of the things I am choosing to eat and especially the quantity, so I don't get out of control. I don't know about you but I am excited as well as anxious, so I think thats whats contributing to it. Good luck to you! -
My date is the 10th as well! Did all the final pre op stuff today and I am ready to go. I can not believe it is finally time after working towards this since July. Excited, and anxious for the surgery itself, but I am ultimately ready for a happier healthier version of me!

Thanks!!! Congrats to you as well! I am so excited, I was previously going to get the band on Jan 16 but ended up switching docs and procedures kind of at the last minute. Still learning about all the sleeve entails as far as nutrition and recovery etc. But I am much more confident in my decision foe this procedure overall!!!!

I did end up getting an appointment at Rose medical center, with Dr.snyder. they are going to see me even though they don't accept my insurance; they said that they would make an exception due to the circumstances.I am not sure if he is moving his practice or why I received such short notice. I just went in there to collect my records and the staff were very Apologetic towards me.I am not sure why I am still getting conflicting stories, it makes the whole thing seem very questionable to me.
-
And I am not sure about how things have changed since the implementation of the ACA or if this has anything to do with it. All I know is our insurance got better from it.
-
I agree Jim, now that I calmed down a bit that makes perfect sense. And pretty thick1 , I hope that is the case!!!!!

@ toomuchfun Dr. Johnell is/ was my doc. I just went in to get my records and asked about the other hospitals. They told me that he just has fill clinics there and doesn't perform surgery there.

Thanks Ladies! I have taken your advice and put a call in to Poudre Valley Medical Center, so just waiting for a call back from the coordinator of that program. I didn't know they even offered it in Loveland, which is only about 20 min from me. I am going to continue to stay on track with my diet and goals. I just ate half a bag of chex mix and it did not feel good. I realized I wasn't feeding my hunger, I was feeding my anger. I hope that is a sign that even though I was feeling really deprived on this diet, I was not physically deprived, just mentally. Thank you for all of the support and well wishes. I guess I will just see what happens with all of this...Robi~

Any January Surgery Bandsters?
RSifers replied to msirish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MemeBear, I feel the same way! It is awesome how everyone can come together and support each other with our common goals in mind. And as far as age is concerned, hopefully the lap-band will be just the right tool to help us all live longer and happier lives! -

Wow guys!! Thanks for the awesome dose of encouragement! It couldn't have come at a better time. Just got back grocery shopping for my family and I and I was starving. I decided to forgo the shake and have some canned chicken with mustard and salt and pepper, with a few green olives. I am glad I didn't go overboard and surprised how I am satisfied already. Feeling good, and I am getting more and more excited each day! -
Happy New Year Everyone! I woke up refreshed and ready to start the year off on the right foot. My surgery is January 16th and although my pre-op diet doesn't officially start until the 13th; I have decided that food is my heroin and I need a bit longer to ween myself of it! LOL. So far I have had 2 protein shakes, 1 for breakfast and 1 for lunch and I always drink a lot of water as well. I wanted to try out the liquid aspect of things, I feel okay; but I kind of have a headache. Has anyone else experienced a headache doing this?
