  1. Okay so I am 9 months out. I have lost 83 total with only 66 being since I had surgery. I am discouraged and depressed. I know that some of my slowed success or failed success has been from not eating at all in the beginning due to nausea. Then not getting my protein in and falling back to old habits like eating carbs. However during the last couple of months I have tired so hard to eat right, get my protein in, exercise, and drink water but to no avail. It is still coming off slow or non existent at this point. I had a complete hysterectomy in August at the age of 28 so I don't know if that slowed me down or what. I have been seriously considering having the sleeve converted to duodenal switch which I wanted bypass all along but was talked out of it by family and friends. I just wanna know what everyone thinks. I wanna know if I have hit my bottom and I'm probably not gonna lose any more or what. Also if anyone has had it could you tell me the cost of the revision? Thanks
  2. I am almost 3 weeks post op. I have been miserably nauseated by all the soft foods and protein drinks. It has been so hard to get that stuff down without gagging. So today I ate some of a turkey sandwich on wheat bread. I was scared I would get sick but surprisingly I felt way better. I know my nutritionist said don't eat anything I couldn't mash up with a fork and I probably shouldn't have eaten that but I am wondering has anyone else strayed from their diet? Am I gonna ruin my sleeve?
  3. I'm 2 weeks post op today and still miserable! I am nauseated all the time!!!! I'm still sore. It seems that everything makes me sick. I haven't been able to get the protein shakes down in about a week. Has anyone else still felt this badly 2 weeks later and when should I expect to see a difference with the way I am feeling?

I DID IT! One day post op

Thank you. I needed that today. Been having an emotional day.
  5. I didn't mean to scare you with the negatives so let me share some of my positives to encourage you. I haven't felt hungry since the surgery. I haven't craved the Dr. Peppers I was addicted to. I can already tell I have lost a little weight post op. I was a huge candy and sweets type person and I haven't wanted anything like that since then. While I have been nauseated I have taken the nausea preventative that the doctor prescribed and I haven't thrown up any. It really does have a lot more pros than cons. Don't be afraid it is a good decision to have made. You may do a lot better than I have in the beginning because everyone is so different. Good luck on your surgery and best wishes!!!
  6. It could be my emotions. Plus I have a really low tolerance for pain. So maybe once I am a few more days out and I heal I will feel better.
  7. Thank you for responding jbyler. My family is being so supportive but its hard for them to truly understand how I feel. I'm glad this site exist for those of us going through this journey.
  8. I had my sleeve on April 8th. I know I am only 4 days out but I am having such regret. I am tired of the pain and tired of getting sick. I hate the liquids and miss being able to chew my food. I know this is probably crazy. I prayed so long and so hard for this surgery to feel this way now but all I have done today is cry. Somebody please tell me this will get better and how soon I can expect it to get better.

    12 months out! FINALLY

Thank you for posting your story! I am 2 days post op. I'm 5'7 and weighed 374 on my surgery date. My goal is to get to the 180-190 and range and seeing your success helps me to get that much more motivated. You look amazing!!! So beautiful!!!
  11. I had my sleeve on 4-8-14 so today I am 2 days post op. I am handling the liquid diet better than I though I would but the large incision pain where they pulled the stomach out and the gas pain is awful!!! I'm walking around as much as possible. I'm on a blood thinner to prevent blood clots due to my high BMI and history of smoking. So I'm trying to walk as much as possible to prevent any clots from forming. I'm having a little trouble taking in all my liquids. I feel full and just not at all interested in them. I'm trying though good luck all my fellow April Sleevers!!! Surgery Weight : 374lbs Goal Weight:190
  12. Despite some serious anxiety the day before surgery I was sleeved on 4-8-14. The pain has been a little worse than I anticipated. I have to admit I have questioned why I did this a little. Then I remember this short term pain will be worth the long term affects. I have been walking but have still had a lot of gas built up in my chest. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting rid of it? I am completely amazed how I am on liquids and not feeling hungry!!! This is amazing. I think once the pain is gone its gonna be the best decision ever.

    So many emotions.

Just wanted to update this thread. I went through with the surgery on 4-8-14. So I am only one day post op. I have to admit the pain is more than I expected and there have been times I have questioned what was I thinking but I know the long term benefits will far out weigh the temporary pain. Thank each of you for encouraging me to go through with it and reminding me that I am worth it. God bless you all.

    Protein Drinks

I am one day post op and so far I have only tried the Premier Protein from Sam's Club. I like it but has anyone else experienced a bad after taste? Maybe it's just because I am so early into this that its making a little nauseated. I'm not sure.

    Approved By BCBSTX

My total wait time after my paperwork was submitted was a little over a week to be approved. I had my surgery on 4-8-14 and was released from the hospital today. I paid my 1,000 deductible and then I had to pay 135.00 down to the anesthesiologist then $200.00 down for the hospital. I paid $238.40 to my surgeon and whatever is owed they will bill me for. I was told the most I could be charged after my deductible was 3,000. So I will keep y'all updated as the bills come in.
