Gallbladder out AND LaPband at the same time?
artzygirl replied to Hello Kittee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if this helps, but I have to get my galbadder taken out too. My doctor told me that it would be a separate surgery. I'm having my galbadder surgery sept. 12, I having the lap-band surgery sept. 18. My doctor told be that there is a small chance of contaminating the band if you take the galbadder out at the same time. I am really scared about having 2 surgeries! Hope everything goes well for you. -

Hi Everyone! I just found out today that I will be having my galbadder out on Wednesday,(Sept. 12) and my lap-band may still be on the 18th of Sept. The doctor wanted me to lose 30 - 50 lbs before my lap-band, and I've only lost 17. I have to go back and get weighed on the 14th to see how much more weigh I can lose. If I haven't lost enough he will re-schedule. It's kinda depressing not knowing for sure. -

Res, thanks so much for the encouraging post about being full. I know it sounds silly, but that will probably be one of those post I will go back to over and over again when I get worried. I'm kind in a stage where need lots of reassurance that everything will be alright. :rolleyes Thanks again. -

Karen, I usually get on the computer at night, after everying is done around the house. So that's about 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. I keep telling myself , I must go to bed, I have work tomorrow. But lately I can't seem to stay away from the computer. I have found too much support and inspiration. But now I have to get off so I can go to work! -

Hi Btbaily, Wow, I could have written your last post word for word, about the being nervous part anyway. I've written a few post on this site asking people, how will I feel, when will I know I'm full, how to avoid throwing up. I'm really scared about all that. I start to cry nearly every time I tell some one about the surgery.:think This is such a huge life change. Every time I get a little scared and I have no one to talk to I came here and look at all the befor and after pictures as well as all the positive posts, and then I feel better. I just have to remind myself that this will be a positive change in my life. Also, I really like the Beatles too! lol. -

hi Karen, Well your town maybe known for it's rum, but mine in known for country music. You know, that good old cowboy music. Have you ever heard of Buck Owens? He was born here and became very famous. He was on T.V. for a while, and made lots for records. Then, when he got old, he came back here and opened a dance hall / restaurant. I know. Pretty exciting. Hey, I still wear white shoes with all my pants. I thought that was a really good trend.. lol. I am going to see my doctor tomorrow. He is going to give me some definite dates for my surgeries, I hope. I was supposed to have my lapband on the 18th, but now it's up in the air because of my galbadder. But on the up side I did lose 4 lbs on the liquid diet. Yea for me!:bounce: -
All sept banders are you up for a challenge?
artzygirl replied to itstime's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hi Itstime, The first thing I asked was if I could have my galbadder out when they put the lap-band in. My doctor says that he can't because the galbadder is full of bile, and if that leaks out during the surgery the lapband could get contaminated. I guess each doctor feels differently. But I think you might want to ask your doctor about it. I See my doctor tomorrow to find out some definite dates for both of the surgeries. I hope that they are at leat a week in between. This galbadder issue has been a huge worry for me. I am so scared of surgery. I have had a lot of pain in my gut over the past year. I just thought it was a bad flu.:sick Hope to hear how eveything goes for you. -

Hi Karen, I am in Bakersdield, California, U.S.A.. That is about 2 hours south of L.A. I've been to Australia three times. My sister married an Aussie that she had met in Greese in a vacation. Now, they live here. We did travel some, but we were mostly in Sidney and the surrounding areas. I loved Australia. The country is so beautiful, and the people are so friendly. Where are you? I hope your kindey turns out to be alright. -

Yes, we must stick together! My son is 6. I want to be able to take him on all the fun amusement park rides while he is still young. I want to be able to chase him around the house. I try to now, and I get so out of breath. :think I think I will be happier once I have the surgery, I'm just so scared going into it. I have never been very good at the diet thing, and I have a big sweet tooth. I am doing the pre - op diet now, which for me is all liquid. I just found out last week that I have gall stones so I have to get my galbladder taken out before the lap-band surgery:eek:. So I may be getting my lap-band later than I thought. I just keep telling myself that it is all worth it. I have the same fear about all the information and rules to this. I hope I don't mess it up. We can do this!!! -

:girl_hug:Yes, My surgery date is Sept. 18., and I am really scared. I worried about making the right choice. I have been over weight for so long that I can not even picture myself thin. Also, I'm deathly scared of surgery, and of throwing up. But I just know I have to do something or I will have health problems soon. I also know that I want to be the best mother I can be for my young son. I try to think of the positive aspects of all this, and then I feel I can do it. I have about 200 lbs to lose. I am really hoping this works be me. -

Please tell me how you know your full.

I am being banded in less than a month. I am getting very scared. I've overeaten all my life, and many times I eat when I'm not even hungry. The food just has to be there, and I'll eat. My question is, how can you tell when your full, when you are used to not noticing? Is there a strong full feeling, like all of a sudden you just can't eat another bite?I usually don't even notice I'm full untill I'm stuffed! I'm really afraid of throwing-up. What does "full" feel like with the band? :help: -

Thank you everyone. I feel so much more at peace. I was so worried about eating. Well, I still am a little. I guess it's just the unknown that's so scary. I am so worried that my bits might be too big, I will take that one last bit that I should not have. I'm so glad to know that there are signs to look for. This is such a great place to get support! -
Getting Banded tomorrow! 8/27/07

Good Luck! I'm being Banded in less than a month. I am looking forword to hear how it went. -
I am being banded in less that a month, and I just finished all of my per-op testing today. I am really scared. Everytime I go to a doctor's office I keep asking the doctors and staff about the lap-band. I'm scared of going under, and I'm also really scared of eating after the band is put in. I really fear throwing-up. I keep waking up in the middle of the night worring about it.

Thank you Kadrianmatthews, Thompson632 and DeltaDawn for the support and the encouragement:). My surgery is only a month away, and I'm just starting to tell my friends and family. I thought that if I didn't tell anyone than I could still chicken out. But now I'm sure that I don't want to do that, and I think that I need all the support I can get. The Information about the throwing-up helped a lot. I just don't know anyone in person who has had the lap-band to ask them. My first support group is one week befor surgery. -

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
artzygirl replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi! This is my first post - ever! I am being banned Sept. 18. I am excited, but I also feel very worried. I'm mostly worried about the throwing-up part. I asked my doctor about it, and I told him how worried I was. I also asked some of the other people on his staff. They all say if I just follow the rules, then I won't throw-up. I want to believe them, but I am trying to figure out what to expect. I weigh over 400 lbs, so I know that I have to do something. I would rather be a little sick than keep living my life the way I am now. I have enjoyed reading all the stories that I have found here on this website. Every time I feel scared, I come here and read a little and then I feel better for a bit. I hope I can do this. I was hoping for some encouraging words or some advise on the throwing-up.:help:
