That's great to hear, I hope you continue to do so well. I have been sick 3 times and 3 times it was after eating pork, it just does not agree with me. So far I haven't had a stall so lucky that way I guess lol

Anyone else being sleeved in the next couple of months?
willow13 replied to willow13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was offered the choice but went with the sleeve simply for the speed of recovery compared to the bypass. I was told if the sleeve doesnt work properly I can always go to a bypass at a later date but so far I am happy enough with it, I am loosing weight slowly but steadily. With either you will not want to binge on sweet things, I had a tiny bit of sweetened fresh orange juice the other day and it went straight through me. I cant have sweet foods or drinks. -
Thought it was about time I gave another update. I am still burping like its an Olympic sport and its driving me crazy, I actually broke down in tears the other day through it. I felt stupid for doing so but it just got to me. I see my surgeon again on thursday so hoping he can offer some help to the burping situation. Thankfully the reflux is no where near as bad so hopefully it will settle completely soon. The weight loss is still going in the right direction, much slower than I had hoped but I am loosing about 1.5kg a week so its slow but steady which is a good thing I reckon. I am eating mostly normal foods now, I can eat chilli but pork is a huge NO NO, I am sick as a dog every time I try that (tried it cooked 3 different ways) yet I can eat gammon and even had a rasher of bacon the other day. I am gutted as pork was one meat I really enjoyed but its a small sacrifice I guess, who knows maybe further down the line I will be ok with it again.

How are you doing CBF? Hope the recovery is going well.

I use the jars of canderel, you can use it for baking and your tea/coffee. You get one with added sucrose for baking as its that little bit sweeter.

That's great news about the letter and the official date. So pleased for you, its full steam ahead now. May isn't all that far away. Well done on the water aerobics too, sounds like your going to be fighting fit for the op. -

No wonder your bp was up I am surprised it wasn't through the roof. So when will you see the anaesthetist now? I can't believe they made you an appointment for him when he was on holiday. I hope the don't decide to give you the camera, that it horrid and was the worse thing I had to go through. -

Good luck hun, thinking of you today -
Glad to hear it, hows the weight loss going?

Thought it was time I gave a quick update. I am still burping like crazy which is driving me insane, it is the one downside I have, even the reflux doesn't cause me as much trouble. Upside is I am doing great in all other ways. I can more or less eat most things now. I can't eat pork as it makes me sick but so far that's the only thing I can't have. I can only eat small amounts still can't eat a full slice of toast if I have a poached egg with it but that's not too bad. I have stuck to granary bread to try and get more fibre as I felt I wasn't getting enough and was a bit constipated. I am loosing weight steadily which I am pleased about. I will up date my tracker tomorrow when I get on the laptop but I now weigh 273lb so it is coming off slowly.

How much weight did you loose in the first 4 weeks?
willow13 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know everyone is different and I know everyone looses weight at different speeds but how much weight on average did you loose each week in the first 4 weeks? I am eating 3 small meals a day and having one snack but my weight loss seems really slow, I lost more in the 2 weeks before my operation than I have since the op. -
Feel free to ask as many questions as you like Lucky. There is NO chance I could have stuck to your pre-op diet, me and milk do not mix I vomit with it. Its not any allergies or anything like that I just hate the taste and texture of it, I dont like it flavoured either, that's part of the reason I don't eat cereals. I can disguise it in something like ready brek so stuck with that for breakfasts after the op.
-
I know the exact feeling you mean by full but empty............I think its the gas and knowing you haven't eaten so have nothing substantial in you
-
Lucky not everyone gets troubled by wind as bad as others do so don't overly worry hun.
-
Glad to hear your doing better. The wind is a nightmare, I used to get my hubby to rub my back too. I also ended up getting the drs to give me a huge bottle of Gaviscon as I wasn't sure what was the best thing to take. Walking does help a decent bit with the wind even if you don't really feel like walking. I can drink most things now but really glad that I am actually enjoying a cup of tea again because I missed my cuppa those first few days when it tasted disgusting lol. If you like it try the broth off Knorr chicken noodle Soup, don't eat the noodles or the freeze dried chicken but the broth is lovely and makes a nice change.

Hi DairyFairy, I had lost 50lbs before surgery but the rest has been from the preop diet and the op. I have lost another 4lb this week so I am now down to 276lb. (I wish they worked in Kg on these tickers it would be easier lol.) So it is going the right way. As for green vegetables, I ate mainly brocolli (I love the stuff so that was easy) but I did have things like cabbage and sprouts on a couple of days but not so keen on them. I was also allowed salads if I didnt want the green veg, I just couldn't add coleslaw or any root veg, but was allowed tomato, cucumber, lettuce etc. As for pictures I have not had a picture taken in 12 years, actually my wedding pictures were the last pictures I had taken and I wasn't that big then. My accident was 9 year ago and thats when I put the weight on.

In less than 24 hours I will be sleeved!

Good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking off you. -
The wind is hellish isnt it? I was in pain from the incisions and from the internal stitches being too tight. So really glad to hear you are not suffering that way. I left hospital the day after the operation simply because I hate hospitals and everytime I did doze off either someone would go to the bathroom and wake me (I am not used to people walking about past me lol) or some nurse would come over to check my stats. So despite being in agony getting home was the biggest issue for me lol.
-
Thanks Dairy Fairy. Has your passport turned up yet? My pre op diet consisted of a poached egg with one small slice of granary bread for breakfast, 125gr of lean meat or chicken with salad or veg for lunch and for evening meal it was another 125gr of chicken/turkey/pork with either 40gr of rice or 30g of pasta (dry weights) with unlimited green veg. (I wasn't allowed sweetcorn/mushrooms or root veg) I lost a decent bit of weight on that diet for the couple of weeks I was on it. For Breakfasts I could have had weetabix or cornflakes but I dont eat cereals and dont like milk so poached egg it was. With it being early days I am trying to make sure I get protein in but not too worried, the main thing is that I eat my surgeon said. Once I start "normal" foods I will ensure I get more protein and stick to low carbs.

Holiday in France post op - how long should I wait?
willow13 replied to Rooben's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As Koofka said I would leave it 6 weeks too. I found eating out in the early days to be a nightmare and make sure I am home or take food with me now for that reason. I think its different when flying/travelling home from Mexico to the states as they will not need to worry about eating out etc in the early days as they will be on fluids. -
Hope everything went well with your surgery today.

It will be soon enough
