  1. This time next week I will have gone under the knife, the pre op diet is going well I have lost 6kg in the last week. Nerves have not come into it so far I think this week is going to feel more like a month than a week lol. I will be keeping busy by looking at new homes this week although not planning to move for a few months, I also collect my new baby tomorrow, a tiny kitten.

    The Two Week Milk Diet

Good luck for your op lucky. As kimba said the quicker you can sit up and walk the better it is, especially to get rid of the gas. I hope your one of the lucky ones who has no pain or at least not too much after the op. Will be thinking of you

Congrats on the grand child kimba. Not long to go now lucky. I felt like a kid waiting on Santa the last week before my op date lol.

    The Two Week Milk Diet

Don't knock him for noticing lol, too many guys don't see any difference although my hubby seems to be able to guess exactly how much weight I have lost each week lol. I am still cold most of the time, my husband and son are moaning because I have been insisting they leave the heating on for me while they melt lol. I thankfully have more energy than ever. So have you got everything ready for your hospital trip? How long does your surgeon plan to keep you in hospital?

    UK Sleevers

That's great to hear bettygirl, my incision site (largest one) gave me a bit of trouble it was really painful and just as it eased off I discovered I had an infection in it so ended up on antibiotics. Since then I have done great the only things I can't eat is pork and anything with chilli which I loved so its a pain lol. Hopefully further down the road I will be OK with them again.

    Op 28th March

It definitely seems to be working, I am loosing weight in 7 weeks I lost 18kg so not the fastest loser but its steady which giving my limited mobility is good going.

    Op 28th March

I refuse to calorie count or weigh out food either, its too much trouble and I simple can't live with that especially when there are days when my husband is having to do everything because my health is bad. I get my protein in first, then a bit of veg and try to stay away from carbs except at breakfast where I have a slice of toast with an egg.

    Op 28th March

I never felt restricted with food until I started on normal foods then I found I got full really quickly. I still struggle to eat a slice of toast with a poached egg for breakfast. I haven't had a stall thankfully but I am not the quickest loser either, I lose an average of a kilo to kilo and a half a week. So its slow but steady.

I think some anxiety is normal Betty. I know I was excited about my new life but the wory about complicationcomplications crept in as it go it closer, my main worry was actually the hospital stay itself though and not the actual op as I had faith in my surgeon.

I am not ashamed just not willing to be judged any longer so what they don't know doesn't hurt them and why should I tell them. If I were having my appendix removed I wouldn't have to explain my choices to them so don't see this as any different lol. Good luck with your operation, you will have to let us know how you get on. It seems like such a long time ago now since I was starting the pre-op diet.
  19. I know exactly what you mean and have never told anyone outside of home for that reason, I have judged myself for long enough without anyone else judging me or waiting for me to fail.
  20. I am due to have my sleeve at the start of march, I begin my pre op diet on the 17th february. I am nervous but more excited about the help the sleeve will give me to finally get this extra weight gone for good. No doubt I will have dozens of extra questions as the time gets nearer. Is there anyone else who is due to undergo surgery in the very near future?

It is those very people I wanted to avoid telling so I just chose not to tell anyone other than my husband and son. I have never regretted my decision NOT to tell anyone else.
  22. Hi Bettygirl. Your in with a good group here we will all try to help you with any questions you may have. I never told anyone other than my husband and son about my operation.

Hi Betty girl, I had an infection after my op so blamed that for me not eating or said that I was feeling sick to the one or two who did ask why I wasnt eating. I tend to just say I am on a diet which shuts most up. I wasn't telling them because they never bothered to ask what was wrong that I put the weight on so why should I be judged by them for doing something to take the weight off, I wasn't prepared to be judged by anyone. Can I ask why you are going to Manchester for your operation? A friend of mine had her operation done in Newcastle.

Hi dairyfairy, Glad to hear everything went well for you. If you want to chew try chewing gum that's how I got through that stage. Hi bettygirl, I never told anyone except my husband and son that I was having my op? I told anyone who did ask what was wrong that I had to have abdominal surgery and left it at that.
