Glad to hear things are back on track hun. You know how I said I had gained a couple of weeks back well it turned out I wasnt eating eating enough either and my body had started storing. In this heat the last thing I have wanted to do is eat but I have been forcing myself and I have started loosing again.
-
It was forceval that made me really ill.
-
I don't know about the anemia or vitamin D but I have hypothyroidism and it never affected my surgery.
-
What Multivitamin and calcium do they have you on? My doctor gave me one which was combined but it made me violently ill and I cramped up something horrific with it so refused to take anymore of them. I went back to buying them individually as she said she didn't know what else to prescribe too me. I have been constipated on and off since the operation, I got senna from pharmacist which seems to work. I dont know why you havent lost weight, I guess if your not eating your body could have stored everything. I actually gained half a pound this week which I dont understand as I have been doing more walking and have been eating less because of the heat.

5 incisions for me with no drain

Way too early for wine one week after surgery, I would stick to water

Don't overly worry about what your scales say, your dietician and drs scales are the only ones you should go by as household scales are notoriously wrong. As tartantiger said the pre op diet is to shrink the liver so don't get hung up on what you have or have not lost. Good luck with your operation -
I couldn't drink water either I started drinking really diluted orange squash to get my fluids in, I still drink that or blackcurrant squash even now. (Sugar free stuff)
-
Good luck on beginning your journey. Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you need on the first appointment, sometimes it helps to write them down
-
I had several stitches stick out. I got my Dr to remove the first one but then used a pair of tweezers to gently tease the others out, don't just yank on them though.
-
I was on fluids for 3 weeks then pureed foods for 3 weeks before going onto soft foods for 2 weeks before starting to add more everyday foods. I don't think anyone manages their fluid goals in the first week or 2 but try to get as much in as you possibly can. I was in a lot of pain for the first week but it does get easier with time.

Your surgery wasn't that long ago, not even a full month so don't be too hard on yourself or overly worried about what you can and can't eat just yet. I couldn't take in much in the first month now almost 3 months out I can eat almost everything. You could simply be retaining water.

I was in quite a bit of pain for about a week following surgery but it does get easier. Hope yours eases off quickly.

Its only natural to have some worries, lets face it if we could loose weight easily and keep it off none of us would need surgery. In the early days you will have "what have I done" moments, I think most do. Head hunger rather than actual hunger takes a bit to over come but once you recognise it for what it is you overcome that. Listen to your new stomach and it will soon tell you that you are full, take small bites and eat slowly and you will do fine. If I can loose weight after my surgery with limited mobility due to a disability, polycystic ovaries and an under active thyroid everyone can. One last thing in the early days after surgery I found chewing sugar free gum helped loads when I was craving something proper to eat. It felt great to just chew anything lol. Mollsy you will have to take it a bit easy after surgery so do try to get a few weeks extra help in the early post op days. Good luck to everyone with their surgery.

Your doctor sounds as good as one here. One Dr told me I needed Vitamin b12 jabs the next stopped them so had to get them restarted after seeing my own Dr again. I spoke to the one who stopped the jabs to ask what was the best calcium tablets to take for her to tell me I didn't need them despite the surgeon and dietician saying I did so ended up phoning the surgeon to ask what he recommended. Some doctors sadly don't seem to have a clue. I hope you are getting plenty of rest, keep in mind you just went through major surgery so don't over do things at work. Oh I forgot about your tattoo, do you have it booked? When are you getting it?

I could shower the day following surgery but was told not to soak in the bath for 3-4 weeks this got put up to 5 weeks due to the infection. Rome its normal for the largest incision to be sore as its the one they remove your stomach from, just keep an eye on it being red or oozing as that's the one I got an infection in.
-
4-6 weeks would be a good estimation, mine took about 5 weeks as I had an infection in one of the wounds.

Good nutrition, decent rest/sleep in our own beds and just feeling more relaxed works wonders. How are you feeling now hun?

Anyone experience lots of burping?
willow13 replied to FatBastard79's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am still burping like crazy, it doesn't matter if I eat or drink or don't I burp. My doctor has given me some meds to try to combat it but so far they are not helping. She said it can happen at times and my stomach is causing too much acid which is causing it. Upside is my weight loss has made up for it lol. -
I think if we are honest the vast majority of us have doubts if we did the right think in the first day or two. I certainly did, I was in agony with my back and had a lot of pain in the very early days. I hate hospitals so bluffed my way through it so I could get home because like you I was added to a general surgery ward where they had no idea about what I was allowed and kept trying to feed me sandwiches. Getting home to my own chair and bed where I could get something edible made me feel so much better. Do I have regrets now...........definitely NOT. I have had no regrets since those early days. I still get troubled with reflux and burping but I suppose that is a small price to pay for the weight loss I have had. I am over half way toward my goal and its only just over 2 and a half months which I never thought I would reach.
-
Sorry to hear you had such a rough time, as kimba said being home will in itself make you feel so much better than being in hospital did. Hope your recovery from here on goes smoothly.
-
Lucky how are you doing hun?
-
I am doing great, I was at the dietician today and I have lost 90lb since beginning this journey so I am over the moon as is she as giving my limited mobility its been great. I can eat almost everything which is great and I am feeling so much more lively. Glad to hear your stall is over and that your doing so well.

Let us know how you are doing when ever you can get online hun

Thought it was time for an over due update. I am still burping like crazy and getting a lot of gas which bloats me at times but I saw my doctor today and she's gave me new tablets which are hopefully going to work. On the upside the weight loss is going OK I have gone from 350lb to 260lb which is fantastic, I am still restricted by my disability from exercise so I am not the fastest loosed but its still a huge relieve knowing my body is not under the same pressure it once was. Yes I still have a long way to go but its definitely heading in the right way now. I never want to gain that weight back.
