    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hi gang, thought I'd drop in and say a quick "Hi" to my dearly missed bycyling buddies. I've spent a few hours reading through the last 30-45 pages of posts. Very proud of everyone for what they have accomplished over the past few months. I am at war with my band - have been for the past few months. Not really wanting to spread that joy. It will get better, or it will get taken out - at this point, I don't have a preference either way. I'm hoping my travel schedule will eventually calm down to allow me more than 1 day a week at home. Maybe I can get buttercup off of her training stand. She looks so sad - the wife's treadmill gets used regularly, but she has been relegated to laundry rack status (the bike, not the wife). Miss all of you dearly - Bike on - B

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hey bycylers - checking in from Boston. No biking for me here. I have tentatively scheduled the week of July 28 for starting to bike at home. Very tired of the no biking thing. Also very tired of the traveling thing. BG & J - glad y'all got to ride together last weekend! That must've been a blast. Haven't seen any more discussion of the DFW october trip lately - is that still in the plans? B

Thanks J  Of course, I'm back on the road in the early AM, and the ankle is just about healed. Oh well, at least I won't be in pain on the road and away from what's left of my big bottle of Loritab... I heeeaaaaarrrrrrtttt my loritab. B

Alright, just to show no good deed goes unpunished... I rode my bike last weekend for the first time in forever, and in the process, I did something to fuck up my ankle, so i've been hobbling around all week... It was the only week this summer I'm going to be home... No bike for me... Anyway - just sharin' B

Hey BG - glad you checked in - we miss ya! HP - sweet bike! For some reason, even though I don't have time to ride the bike I have, I get the jones for a nice road bike - seems like less of a production to go out and ride than the recumbent... C - What J said on the PB - you'll know if you need to, and it will be heavenly once it's done. I've gotten to the point of being able to PB on demand by looking longingly into a sink drain :scared2:... Instant relief... As for what makes me PB - random chance sometimes, too much melted cheese (gets gummy) some vegetables, but strangely not lettuce (a problem for many people). JC - How did school end, bub? ZZ - glad you will make it down to Big D for the convention. Not sure if I'll actually attend, but I want to make sure we can all get together. B

J - Congratulations on your ride. I'm glad that your friend was there to help with the cleat situation - that could have been a nasty fall. Hope that you get your homework done. Glad I'm sitting this semester out... I got on my bike for the first time in ages - only rode it on the trainer stand, but still, it's much better than not... Rode about 13 miles in 45 minutes. Sooo boring to ride on trainer stand, but at least I got on. Will be traveling until the end of July, so I'll just ride inside on the day or two a week that I am home. Once I quit traveling, I'll get back on the road. Will train for a ride in Sept/Oct. It will be cooler then. B

Ooooo - I just failed miserably at that challenge... My unfill needs to be undone... I might have bitched about not being able to eat anything, but at least I wasn't able to eat everything... I hope y'all can make it down to Big D in october - would be way too cool... HP - sweet bike, lucky daughter. TX - will have to check out the MS150 pics in a sec D - Hiya! BG - wherethehellareya? JC - Ditto B

In seattle this week, and at the one hotel in the Western world without a workout facility. They do, however, have a beautiful garwood Chris Craft cabin cruiser. Will be out on the lake in that for a while tomorrow. ZZ, I feel your food pain. Since unfill, food has been for crap. haven't gained much weight, but I have blown up like a goddamned balloon. I could get into living up here - bike lanes everywhere - bunch of bike racks at all the buildings - weather appropriate to riding most of the year - not too hot, not too cold. A little rainy though. Convention in DFW would be great. That would be way too cool to meet everyone. B

Hey J - way to go on your ride! Woohoo!! Very proud of, and happy for, you! Am saddened, though, by the death of the cyclist. TX - not to be impertinent, but how is your ass? Recovered from the MS150? Hope so... I'm in Seattle this week... B

TX - I second what J said - congratulations on a great ride and major ouch on the tailbone. Hopefully, it won't keep you off the bike for long at all. Can't wait to see the pics! B

J - Glad to be here more... Same as with BG - Rest up, get plenty of fluids & get better soon. ZZ - forgot to mention that I saw your pics in the B&A thread - you look great! Also glad that you were able to get your bycycle into the pic :wink2: B

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

BG - Sorry to hear about the strep throat - no fun at all... Rest up, get plenty of fluids & get better soon. C & J - Looks like I might be back in the market for pedals. Wish I would have pulled the Shimano platform/clipless off of the Trek before I traded it in on buttercup. SBG - Welcome! HP - Riding in high wind sucks... Why is it that riding into the wind is hard work, riding across the wind takes great concentration, but riding with the wind doesn't really seem to help that much? Enquiring minds want to know... TX - Hope the second day of the MS150 went well for you. Let us know! B

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Okay, since my partial unfill on Tuesday, I've been able to eat solid foods for the first time since August. OMG. I have missed real food. Must. Be. Very. Careful. I've done pretty good so far with calorie intake, and haven't had anything that I shouldn't have. Haven't lost anything, haven't gained anything. I'll have to crank up Fitday again, though, to make sure that I don't slowly crank up the number of calories I eat. And I have to get back on the bike. Must. Ride. It. Just sharin' B

Hey C, which pedals did you get? I have speedplays, but after my disastrous first trip out with them, I have clipophobia on the road. I had the platform/SPDs like J on my old bike, and I might go with those, but was also looking for some other options as well. BTW - very envious, my doc wouldn't let me ride for about 6 weeks after surgery. I would have loved to start riding 2-3 weeks afterwards... B

Since the topic of saddle comfort arrises from time to time, I thought I'd pass along something that I found today. If I still had a diamond-frame bike, I'd be all over trying one of these. I didn't see pricing, but it might be worth a look to those that are still having saddle comfort issues... More information at Allay Saddles B

TX - I'm sure you'll be very busy today getting ready for the MS150. I wish that I could be there - but with work commitments & such, I'd be lucky to make 15 miles this weekend, let alone 150. Good luck, have a blast, & tell us all about it!!! J - I haven't been to South Padre in years, so I can't speak for that part of the gulf, but we make it to Galveston on a fairly regular basis (got married on a jetty there. Weather is generally mild - highs in the 60s, lows in the 50s. Bicycling is okay - if you want to bike a long the beach, you're golden, the rest of the town may be a little more of an iffy proposition. As far as I am aware, there is no gambling onshore. There have been several attempts over the years to set up gambling boats to take folks off-shore to international waters, but I don't think any have ever really been successful. Also, being off-season, there would be less of a chance of any gambling boats running. Do you know where on the gulf you would want to go? B
