  1. From someone with a high bmi and had a lot of weight to lose, My ultimate goal is to lose 300 lbs. I am almost 11 months out and have lost 150lbs. In the beginning I lost weight very fast and recently have been losing less. I have had the luck of not having any major problems with my sleeve, my hair loss wasn't as bad as I thought it thinned more than anything. As to losing the rest of the weight I've been realizing this sleeve helped me so much in the beginning that now the rest is more up to me and the choices I make.

    Marijuana

No I didn't, and I didn't tell my surgeon either. I don't think it would of mattered if I told him because I was going to continue to smoke anyways. I just had my checkup and I'm 10 weeks and I'm down 80 lbs total. So I don't think smoking has effected my surgery negatively at all.

    Marijuana

I smoked the night before surgery and I smoked maybe once or twice a day after surgery and made sure to take small hits so I didn't cough. I'm almost 10 weeks out now and smoke whenever I feel like and I have had no problems.

    Any smokers

Thanks! I'm still pretty early out but my skin is tightening up in the areas I'm losing most in, but I'm sure my skin will become saggy especially in my arms and stomach the more I lose! none of my hair is falling out more than usual at least not yet! I'm praying I'm somehow lucky and it doesn't! Those are the 2 things I'm most scared of but I will have to deal if or when it happens!

    Any smokers

I have smoked for many years and I smoked 2 days after my surgery. It helped a lot with nausea and pains! surprisingly & luckily I do not get the munchies at all! I made sure to take very small hits so I wouldn't cough. It hasn't caused any ill effects or stopped my losing. I'm 8 weeks out and down 62 lbs since surgery

    Marijuana

I'm sure this will sound very bad to some people (oh well lol) but I did the night I got home from the hospital so 2 days after the surgery. It helped a lot with pains, gas and nausea. I only took maybe 2 hits at a time tho and small ones so I wouldn't cough. Im only 8 weeks out but i healed great and have lost 62 lbs so it didn't do me any bad.

    Protein water?

Do not get these!! They are soooo nasty! They were I think $2 or $3 each at my Walgreens, I had one drink and threw up the taste was worse than anything I've ever tried, I had my mother taste one because I know my taste buds are messed up and she almost threw up too! If you're able to drink these more power to you but they were horrible to me!

    Marijuana

Regarding the topic that this thread was for before all the other nonsense lol I have been smoking for years and marijuana actually helps me a lot after surgery for nausea and very surprisingly I do not get the munchies at all! I was scared it would give me the munchies and I would pig out but that hasn't been the case at all. I definitely consider myself lucky it doesn't!
  9. I can definitely relate to this! I can't remember a time when I was not overweight! Even tho I'm only 21 I'm definitely scared to start seeing major results, I've always seen myself as a good lookin big girl so who will I be skinny? I think I will look weird and not right, but I know that's not the way I should be thinking and all that really matters is my health. But since were already pretty I guess we should only get better in looks the smaller we get right? Lol

    Looking for a Vegas buddy

Nice to see more people from Vegas! How's everyone doing? Does anyone know when we are okay to start trying solid foods? I will be 6 weeks on Wednesday but don't have a checkup appt till the following week. I'm just getting sick of the same foods I'm ready to start something new!
  11. So i was sleeved on December 11th, 2013 and I'm 5 weeks out now and on my soft food stage, but these past few days I haven't been able to eat anything! My taste buds and stomach want nothing to do with food, everything I eat makes me nauseous and gag also every protein drink I try does the same thing! Luckily since I got my surgery I have had no problems with drinking liquids (beside the protein drinks) I can drink pretty fast too, and I have been taking my vitamins. I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow but I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this as well?

    Looking for a Vegas buddy

I live on the southwest part of Vegas in the spring valley area. Yes I try putting some of that into some foods, I'm just a stickler for food textures! I need to stop being so picky I guess haha this process is definitely a lot harder then I imagined!!

No I haven't tried those, I'm going out tomorrow so I'll look for them. Yeah I can't get 3 oz of anything without feeling uncomfortable. I've been pretty good with chewing a lot and taking small bites but I forget not to eat too fast sometimes. The worst for me is waiting 30 mins before and after eating!

Also is anyone else having a hard time getting protein in? I can't tolerate most protein shakes so I have to keep trying new ones but none stick! I was gonna try some quest protein bars because everyone says they are really good and have a lot of protein!

    Looking for a Vegas buddy

Hello all I'm not on solids yet, from what my NUT said I should be on soft foods for 3 weeks and now I'm only on my 2nd. My appetite for food right now is non existent! Nothing sounds good to me at all, I have to force myself to eat at-least something! When I do eat I can tolerate tilapia, eggs, potatoes, crackers, cheese, thinly sliced deli meat, cottage cheese, SF Popsicles, yogurt. Crab went down fine, I puréed it a little and made it into a crab cakes! Salmon tasted so bad to me when I tried it, which sucks because I used to love it! I was scared to try shrimp because it seems to chewy. Have you guys tried any different foods? I need new ideas I'm getting sick of the same old stuff!

Hi TahoeDoll, I'm doing good much better then the first two weeks which were very hard for me! With drinks all I drink is water, decaf green tea and a G2 sometimes. Luckily I have been able to drink liquid very easily since my surgery! With foods I have tried puréed refried beans and puréed deviled egg mixture did not sit well in my stomach! Things I have tried and work well in my stomach are mashed potatoes, roast beef hash, puréed turkey chili, applesauce, SF pudding, and puréed chicken but I did not like the taste of the chicken at all! Tonight I am trying puréed crab meat and salmon hopefully they sit well!! I'll let you know how it goes! How have you been?? Are you still on all liquids?

I'm in Vegas also! Was sleeved on 12/11 by dr Atkinson. The first 2 weeks are definitely the hardest! My hormones were all over the place, I cried for no reasons at all a bunch of times! I notice It does get better just very slowly, just now starting to move into puréed/soft foods. Luckily I can get most liquids down easy, except some protein shakes. Hoping my mind stops craving so many bad foods soon tho!

    MOODY! !

I definitely have this issue! I'm only 2 weeks out but I hear it can be from the stuff the anesthesiologist gives you which can make you have mood swings and/or depressed which could be the reason.
  19. I'm almost 2 weeks post op and I still get random pains around my stomach and incisions, they usually go away by the next day. I've called the doctor and they said it's still really early and I can still have pains for the next couple weeks and to not worry and to take it really easy and to not bend or strain myself too much. Hope that helps!
