Add me to the list that doesn't have any regrets at all. I would do it all again tomorrow.. -
Hi Addy!! This was my second fill. I don't have a clue what size band I have but I know there is 4.2cc in it... Whatever that means... The way I understand it, it doesn't mean alot because different people get different sized bands. Have you guys got a fill with the nurse practitioner yet?? She is great. One stick and quick as a flash. Dr Keilin did my first one and she was grea too. Have a good day guys...

Hi everybody. It's been awhile since I posted. I had surgery with Dr K on May 14th. I did fairly well through the first fill but not great, as far as losing much weight. Let me tell you, I now know what restriction is since I had my fill last Monday. I have also found out what PB'ing and sliming are unfortunately....lol I thought I was gonna be the one that never did that. I also found out why they don't want you to drink before and after meals. If I try to drink with my meals now, even a few sips, it makes me feel like everything is hanging(get the pain in the stomach and the left shoulder pain...yuk). I totally understand and have a renewed appreciation for the band and everything I have learned on here. It is wonderful to be able to see that other people are going through the same thing you are. It's great to have you guys to talk to also. You guys are doing great.. I too have yo-yo'd. Seems like I would lose a pound one day only to gain it back the next day. (I know you shouldn't weigh every day but I can't help it. Before lap band you couldn't pay me to weigh...lol) Anyway, thanks for all the posts. You guys are great. Keep up the good work.....

Me too!!! I tried every otc med I could find plus got a prescription of nexium thinking it was indigestion. I did know that I was getting it way too often but didn't really think I had a hernia. I sure am thankful though. No meds now!!! Woo Hoo!!:thumbup:

Belly button ring in or out?
Perky66 replied to fivestar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not to say I wouldn't do it and I know everybody is porportioned differently. As for myself, I would have never been able to see mine... But also, that saggy skin comes with age and you younguns hold up better than we do...lol -
The same thing happened to me Lafrogura. When I woke up my husband told me the Dr. fixed a hiatal hernia while she was in there. Great for me!! I guess that is just something they do while they are in there.

I am right there with you guys. I had a fill last Monday and it seems like I can't eat anything. This is really wierd but I can tolerate crunchy things better than soft things. I can tolerate yogurt though. I have been wondering if I am too tight but I don't feel bad all of the time and not everything gets stuck so I am hoping it will just level itself out soon. I haven't really known restriction until now I don't think so I am figuring it is just me...

There was absolutely nothing to my psych eval. It was more of just a bs session. She did ask me how I felt about myself. I told her besides my weight, I felt good about myself. Other than that it was just small talk. I guess each one is different but I think she was more or less summing up my state of mind. As far as the surgeries, I don't think that will hinder you at all. You didn't say where your hernias were ut I have had a ton of abdominal surgeries and it didn't impact the outcome in any way. I have BC/BS of Illinois and they paid 100%. I did have to do a 6 month diet first but that's about it. Hope everything goes well. Good Luck!!!

first fill-banded 6 weeks ago
Perky66 replied to sunnyaudri1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey everybody. I got banded May 14th. I just got my second fill Monday and am down 36 pounds. I am so excited about this. As everyone says, this is just a tool to help in this journey, but it is a great tool for me. I have been on every diet and magic pill out there and have probably lost 1000 pounds in my life only to gain back 1100. This is so much better and healthier. Like most of you, I have a strong family history of heart disease, diabetes and blood pressure problems and had been put on BP meds myself. I am so happy to say I am now off the meds and feeling so much better. My bones and joints don't hurt like they did. It is just great. Hope you will all feel the same. Good luck! By the way, I am from Northeast Texas, Texarkana area. -
I am certainly no expert but it might be something you are eating also. As for me, I can't eat scrambled eggs without feeling restriction the rest of the day. Oatmeal is another thing that does it to me. Breakfast foods are really hard for me. My Doctor also suggested that I drink something hot in the morning to open up the band. I am 10 weeks post-op and just got my second fill Monday and I am just now finding out what real restriction really is.... LOL Hope this helps you some. Have a good day....

Uplifting and Positive Thoughts ONLY . . .
Perky66 replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally agree with you guys. I love my band. It is the most positive thing I have done for myself in years. I feel so much better and have so much energy not to mention I am off my B/P meds and my back feels better. I am on my feet all day at work and used to drag when I got home, I could barely make it up the steps to the house. Now I hardly ever sit down in the evenings except to get on lapbandtalk.com... WOO HOO I feel alive!! -
I thought dang this lady is playing with her Doctor. You go girl...lol Thanks for the laugh, I needed that...

Productive burping and sliming. I learned about it right here. Just type it in the search and it will tell you all about it...

I haven't tried rice but I don't have any trouble with pills of any kind. I have been on Bactrim DS for a kidney infection and they are BIG, but I didnt have any problem at all with them. I guess everybody's different. I am 2 months post-op and have never had PB or slime either and I hear other people talking about it all of the time. Maybe I am just lucky!! Good luck and welcome to the band. I would do it again in a minute. It does require work but it is so worth it. I love it!!

Aunt Lucy I too have back pain and it is so much better since I have lost some weight. I have 3 ruptured discs in the lumbar spine. This is one of the major reasons I decided to have this surgery. That and my blood pressure. I am off my meds now and back feeling better. WOO HOO!!! Aimlagana, you must have a good relationship with your Doctor....

Help: Florida Gal needs advice
Perky66 replied to renee34's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Is it your port?? That sounds like where my port is. I am almost 2 months out and still have occasional pain there, but I have heard that it goes on for some time as it is attached to a muscle... Hope this helps you!! -
Just a quick thought for you. I have only had one fill and I feel now like I can pretty much eat anything except scrambled eggs. I don't know why but if I eat scrabmled eggs, I feel yucky and unable to eat the rest of the day. I talk to another lady on here that said she can't eat them either. Not saying that's all of your trouble but you might not be able to eat them either. Good luck!!!

Port "Pain" - Can anyone put my mind at rest?
Perky66 replied to rockchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Rockchick. Besides this port thing, this journey has been awesome so far. I am off the B/P meds, my joints don't hurt near like they were. I can actually go up and down stairs with ease now. Not to mention that I can buy cute clothes for my size now. That is awesome. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago. It didn't take 5 minutes from start to finish but I had it in the Dr's office. I had heard some horror stories about the fill and I was so relieved to find out that it didn't hurt at all. Good luck and keep me informed of the port. I am anxious to know.... -
Port "Pain" - Can anyone put my mind at rest?
Perky66 replied to rockchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also having port pain. I had surgery May 14th, and everything went fine. Didn't have any port pain at all until 2 weeks ago. I bent over at work to put something on a bottom shelf and when I raised up, I felt some pretty bad pain at the site. I don't have it all of the time, just at intervals. I can push in on the area below the port and it goes away leaving me to believe it is some kind of pulling of a muscle or something. I don't go back to the Dr until the 28th but I don't think it is anything serious. I was just making sure I'm not the only one in this boat. My band feels fine and I am losing weight so I think everything is fine. Any comments or suggestions will be truly appreciated. Thanks!!! -
I understand how you feel. I get the same feeling. When I get like that though I try to eat something that I know I won't have trouble with like soup or something a little mushy. As far as popcorn goes, my Doctor said I was to never have popcorn again after the band. They said it might get hung and cause problems. I know every Dr is different but that was one of the things on my post-op instructions to avoid altogether. Hope this helps you some. Good luck!!!

Allison,I feel the same way. I feel like I could eat alot. Going to get a fill tomorrow though. Hope it gives me some restriction....
