How is everyone doing? We've been a little quiet :-). I have learned how difficult it is to eat a hot, or at least warm meal. Chewing 30 times & waiting between bites = ice cold food! LOL but at least I can eat :-)

I had my first experience of the "getting stuck" feeling last night, i ate 2 oz of broiled tilapia - it tasted good and I thiught it was moist enough. But I soon discovered it wasn't. I'll have to add some type of sauce or stock to it next time. Hopefully that will help. I picked fish over chicken for this reason. It may take some trial and error to figure this out - hopefully not too many errors!

Thanks ERoper - those are great ideas & I love egg salad. Don't know why I never thought about it! And that's my problem at work - i work so intently I forget to eat sometimes! Maybe I'll set an alarm on my phone.... Thanks for the ideas.

Loving life - I still have all six steri strips on - I think they're glued underneath - they aren't open. Doc said to leave the strips on until they fall off.

Europer, Kudos to you for being back at work already. I could technically go back if I wanted to but I'm staying out until the week after next. I just needed a break and wanted to take all this slowly. How are you handling lunch at work - what do you take? That's what I'm trying to be prepared for.

I had 6 incisions - no one said anything about having to do any extra procedure so I guess that's what was needed. The steri strips are still there - I'm supposed to leave them until they fall off. KCamp how are you feeling?

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

Hi everyone - glad to see everyone is doing well. Who knew that food could taste so good again! I have been able to tolerate every food choice so far - i can only have 1/4 c serving. I laugh at how long it takes me to eat it too. I guess it's worth it to avoid nausea or backing up. I've been keeping a food journal so that I have something to show the doc when I have my follow up next week. My plan is to go back to work on the 3rd so each day I try to add a wee bit more structured activity to my day, so I'll be ready. So far I've lost 14 lbs since my first visit to the practice. I expect this will pick up once I'm cleared to be more active. Well, hang in everyone - I can't wait to see what we're talking about NEXT year at this time!

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

Hi everyone! Today is day 6 post-op & I move into soft foods - I'll let you know how it goes! I'm going to start out w/ yogurt - 2oz is the portion size for now. I see some of the posts about GERD - my medical team prescribes prilosec for a year to prevent ulcers. They'll re- evaluate after a year to see if I need to keep taking it. Vitamins start next week - I ordered Bariatric Fusion so I don't have to take a lot of different pills in the beginning, So far, I'm down 14 lbs from when I started this process. Today I'm planning to do some gentle upper body toning exercises - Toned muscles encourage fat loss vs. muscle loss. I hope everyone has a great day!

Hi there congrats to everyone too - exciting milestones are ahead for us! Path2me - try unjury brand unflavored protein or bariatric eating's pure protein. I use them in my soups and they taste just as good, just protein enhanced.

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

Hi everyone! Well I'm 4 days post op - I had lap RNY on the 15th. I am astonished as to how good I feel. The gas pain was really the worst of anything. By the night of surgery - I was walking the entire lap of the hospital floor. I left the hospital on Friday morning & actually walked into the pharmacy to get my prescriptions. It's miraculous to realize all our bodies can go through & how quickly we can bounce back. I'm thankful & grateful for the progress. The medical team warned me that I might not like sweet tastes as much anymore & that is certainly true. The Protein shakes I enjoyed before are now too sweet. So I've had to adapt them with some powdered milk to cut the sweetness. I'm not hungry, per se, just looking forward to more diversity with the soft foods stage. I've been so excited to read how all of us January babies have been doing. It's now a whole new world for us! Keep up the good work everyone!

    Any January 2014 Surgeries?

We are the same day, Vicki - it's hard to believe that 3 days from now our lives will be totally different. Like you, I want to get up and get moving as much as I can. I have told everyone I will be back to work on Feb 3rd. Some people have told me I'm not going to be ready. But I really have to, due to issues at work. My doctor is very supportive of my goal, as long as I'm physically cleared. So that's what matters most to me. Good luck!
