    Bay Area Self-Pay Costs?

Dr Mckeen, South Bay Bariatrics. I self paid and it was $15k. I am very happy with the results. Fills are $200 each when needed.
  5. Hi Queenmama, I know there have been alot of tips on the flying thing, I have some more that may help. I am 5-8.5 and before I was banded was 360, all hips too. I have to fly 2-3 times a year for work and have found the following helpful: 1. I ask for an extender the minute I get on the plane, Look the attendant right in the eye, works everytime, they are very good about quietly coming by and handing it to you. (Better than having to hit the attendant button). 2. Since I tend to get cold on planes, I wear a hooded sweatshirt with a pocket in the front. I put my IPOD and a book in the pocket and stuff my bag under the seat in front of me. If I have magazines I put them in the pocket right away. It is HELL to get to the bag if the flight is booked and this way I have all my entertainment at my fingertips. 3. The tray table is not an option. Bring a snack that can be easily eaten without it. Drinks, order something that you do not mind holding <or> bottled water from the airport. The window seat is nice because you dont get bumped every 2 minutes, and dont worry about the bathroom, you should be fine. I agree that the back of the panes the seats tend to have less leg room. So try for the rows closer to the front. I hope your trip goes well! Take Care.
  6. Pandagirl, Do not let the Drs, Dieticians, or anyone else make a decision for you! They do not have to live with the decision for the rest of their lives! I had the choice of gastric bypass through my insurance and almost went through with it last year, but family asked me not to. I had my band put in last week (8/16) and was self pay, through a Dr who didnt question my decisions. I am 5-8.5 and 359 (at my consultation appt), my Dr said if my issue was just eating too much, then the band would provide the needed restriction, without the moving and cutting of instestine and stomach! He said if you "graze" then this may not be the right tool. So far, so good. Not even hungry, I think I am down about 10 lbs. It was out patient surgery and I was back to work 3 days later. Hang in there and dont let them sway you if this is procedure you want done. Take Care, Lee Ann San Jose, CA.

    New Here..Saying Hi

It feels different, after all of the decisions, etc. to actually being living with it life changing. I havent been hungry at all. Recovery is going well, very bruised, especially where the port is at. (that site is VERY sore.) Contemplating going back to work tomorrow (I have a mgmt job, so I can take it slow....) Hard to believe but I am on my "weigh" to a smaller version of my self. Good luck w/your scheduling date!

    August 15, 16, 17th bandsters

I too was banded on the 16th in San Jose, Ca. (self-pay) Sore but moving around. I miss sleeping on my stomach! My cat and my 4 yo daughter want to sit on me as usual (neither understand completely why they cant). On liquids but not hungry. I have been out walking/shopping everyday since surgery. My question is when does everyone plan on going back to work??
  9. Hang in there simlin_apple. November will be here soon enough, I hate it when people like us get jerked around for surgery dates! I hope everything goes well on your sept appt!
  10. Yes airplanes can be the downer of any trip, either for business or fun. I cannot "weight" to feel comfortable in one of those seats!
  11. Hi everyone, I was banded on Thursday Aug 16th. Very sore, but was released from the hospital an hour and 15 minutes after the procedure. On the liquid post op diet, my Dr. is pretty easy going, I can have any liquid that can fit through a straw, but I have found I am not hungry. (Which is odd for me!) I have read through some of the posts in this forum, and I want to tell you all that when we are all sucessful we wont have to worry about the following: Fitting in airplane seats, or asking for a seat belt extenstion climbing on a ladder when you know your weight is too much for it riding amusement park rides sitting in chairs with arms shopping for clothes at more than 1-2 stores. So hang in there with the liquid diet pre-op and post-op. We can all do this! :clap2:
