Where do Hoosiers shop for lapband related supplies?
smithem15 replied to pennyt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been banded since 10/07 and I buy the unjury protein mix on line at unjury.com. I think it taste the best and they even have a chicken broth mix if you get sick of the sweet taste of shakes I just mix it with lowfat soy milk (regular milk kills my stomach) and if I want to thicken it up I add a few ice cubes to the blender, 28 grams of protein when mixed with the soy milk or regular ff milk. The price is about a $1-1.25per serving including the shipping and they ship very quickly. I think they even have a discount if you set up monthly shipments. I still buy it as I drink a Protein shake every morning for Breakfast, just easier for me since I work. I use the chewable viactiv multi-vitamin and the Calcium soft chews and get them a walgreens. They are chocolate and to me they taste like candy. I don't shop at wal-mart either and I don't really like the GNC brand of protein mix. Hope this helps. Eileen -

HI! I am new to this site, I just had my surgery on 10/31/07. I had the lap band and a heitial hernia done at the same time. When they went in the hernia was a lot worse then they expected (my stomach lining was making its way through the hernia and had to be pulled out) so my 45min to 1 hour surgery lasted 2 hours, but everything is fine now. I don't know what kind of hernia you have but most surgeons will do them both at the same time. So far things are really good and I just have a little soreness in the hernia site (belly button area) All my other sites are healing nicely. It took me a long time to decide if this was what I wanted to do and now that the surgery is over, I am really glad I made this decision. I started my pre-surgery diet on Oct 15th and so far I have lost 18lbs total, that use to take me 2-3 months on weight watchers and when I stopped the weight would just pile back on. good luck on your decision. CTgirl, wow same name, same age and almost same weight (I have 20lbs on you) and almost same band date. I am from Northwest Indiana. I can't wait to get this done. I am 6 days on the liquid diet and it hasen't been to bad. I have to go two more weeks after the surgery with liquids only also, so by the time I'm done, mushies like cottage cheese and mashed potato's will be a feast :hungry: . Good luck with your surgery, and we can keep each other posted on our progress. the other Eileen -

I am on day 4 of the liquid diet and will be banded on Oct 29th. My diet consists of 3-4 liquid Protein drinks per day I use unjury brand w ff milk and then unlimited amounts of the following cream Soups (no potato or tomato?) v-8 or tomato juice, sugar free pudding and Jello, sugar free popsicles, decaf coffee, clear broth, sugar free carnation instant Breakfast, cream of wheat  (not oatmeal or grits) sugar free cocoa. So far I have followed it to a tee. I am a sweet eater so the pudding and popcicles help with that, but I am really starting to strugle with wanting some real food. I still have 8 more days of this and the last two are clear liquids. I too think if I can get through this I can get through anything. The only advice I can give is that if you really feel hungry drink another Protein Drink, that seems to fill me up better than the other stuff and sometimes I put it in the freezer and eat it with a spoon so my mind thinks its ice cream. Good luck with the liquids and your surgery. Eileen
