400 Pound Bandsters Report In With NSV's Please
Ericalynn13 replied to Teresita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I love reading this link!!! I get my first fill on Thursday the 10th, but can totally tell I'm already loosing weight --- My pants fall off, the ones I couldn't button before surgery, now come off with a tug. HA, I never thought things would move this quickly. I'm totally amazed, my DH said we can go clothing shopping, but wow. OK, so it wasn't a goal, but it was something I had to share. My scale goal is to be able to say I've lost 300 POUNDS, but these little things are amazing me every day. -
How do you STOP your body from going into STARVATION mode
Ericalynn13 replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
From the research I've done as long as you consume 800 calories a day your body won't go into starvation. If you choose the correct liquids you can easily make that goal each day. Just make a point of having at least 250 calories at each meal. Eggnog, Milk, Cream of Soups, Slim fast Liquids, etc all will allow you to reach that goal. I haven't had any issuses with not getting enough calories, except the frist 2 days, which I don't know of anyone who could right out of surgery. -
Cream of chicken Soup made with milk or chicken broth, ran it thru the blender and strained it, I made this up 2-3 cans at a time, strained it and put it in my refrigerator, so I could just pour a cup and microwave. sugar free Jell-o with coolwhip Slim-Fast High Protein, chocolate was my favorite. All the Campbells Condensed Soups can be thinned down enough to strain. I did a lot of the bean one (Beans are high in protein). EGGNOG -- OH MY GOSH, I Love that stuff. But you want to watch its high caloric value. Sugar free icecream (just make sure its liquid when it goes down) All Fruit Popsicles. Lots and LOTS of bottled Water, I found that it helped me to do bottled because I had to drink 1 bottle every 2 hours to stay hydrated. Apple juice, but I had to cut it with water because the acid got to me. (Someone suggested to me getting the baby juices because they have alot of the acidity taken out, but I didn't try that) MILK, lots of milk, chocolate, white, strawberry you name it. HOT COCOA was my salvation, bought the sugar free mix and made it with Milk to get the protein, I added flavors to that too. JAMBA JUICE --- I watched what I choose, tending to stay to the peachy ones, and asked them to "blend the hell out of it". My doctor also suggested Orange Julius drinks. Both of which you can ask to have protein added to. I didn't do many of the mixes, but greatly disliked the Myoplex stuff, YUCK. Carnation instant Breakfast worked too, but it didn't have enough Protein for my liking. Some of the greatest advice I got was try some of the stuff out before surgery, because the few days out from surgery you aren't going to want to "think through" what you are going to consume, you just want to open the refrigerator and have something to eat. Also, warm stuff seems to trigger my head that I'm eating so I tended to make a point of having something warm for major meals.

Teresa check out cathrines.com Their 5-pocket Liz & Me jeans are AWESOME, and they go up to size 38 in 4 colors. I'm not sure what their Tall sizes go up too. But I wear a 38 average and its the only place I can find jeans and I love them, they are great quality and fit in all the right spots. AND if you order a pair and they don't fit right, the return policy for them is very easy to work with and their customer care has always been great to me. :-) -

Where the port is placed, differing opinions, what have you been told???
Ericalynn13 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Here are my stats, I am 5' 7", 464 pounds, with a BMI of 70+. I have been dieting since I was 14, and have been obese since that time. I have been told that my medical will not pay for this operation, nor will my husbands, so between friends, family and financing, I'm hoping to be able to pay cash for the operation. My question/issue is this? The surgeon I met with last week told me that I could not get the lap-band because my BMI is too high and that he would have to put the port so far under my skin that they would not be able to find it for the fills. Is this surgeon a loon?? Has anyone else been told this? Is there anyone who has the same stats as me, that has successfully had the lap band done? Does anyone have a surgeon they absolutly love within 1-2 hours driving distance of Seattle, Washington. Please, let me know your thoughts!!!! Thank you -

Wow!!! How sweet you guys are, I didn't even think I'd get a response, and to get all these positive statements, I really appreciate it. I'm going to look into some of the doctors you guys suggested. Its good to know that this is an issue, I never dreamt that you could be too overweight for a WLS. *laughter* But I am not going to give up!!! Thank you all so much. :-)
