How often do you weigh yourself?
Ready4it replied to lizster2007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was doing it every day, multiple times a day, but then it just discouraged me. I had my mother hide it from me and brought it out today. I didn't lose (wasn't expecting to) but I'm maintaining that weight, which is good to me! I've been eating how I want to, limiting my food and sugar intake, but eating well at the same time. It makes me excited to think what it is going to be like when I do really try and know that it will be permanent. I'm going to try to stick to every 3-4 days. We will see!!! -
Congrats! I cannot wait for that feeling of being able to fit comfortable and not ask for the extender. Btw, excuse me if I sound dumb, but what is NSV? Or DH? I always see these terms and I'm just trying to figure out what they mean...

Drove 2.5 Hours and FillUSA called to cancel
Ready4it replied to TRANAM1955's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are there any talks of having a FillUSA center in Kentucky or Tennessee at this time? -
For those of us who weigh in daily!!
Ready4it replied to ragdollx19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was doing this, but then it would jump up and down and it really discourages me. I had my mom hide it yesterday and hopefully when I weigh myself again, it'll swing down. It was just getting too hard for me to see it go up, even in .2. -
Maybe if you can't wear it on your hand for now, perhaps put it on a necklace that way it is still on you? I don't know if you'd like that, but it is an inexpensive way to wear them all the time.

Got approval from PCP today!!!
Ready4it replied to DecemberRose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations! I am going next Thursday to my PCP and hopefully, he will approve me! I honestly have no doubts, but we will see! Again, congratulations. I can't answer any of your other questions because I personally don't know. I've already attended a seminar and it was wonderful. It is the first step before my surgeons would even see me. -
*booty bump* Are there most of us who are young and banded on here? Don't hide!!

Unofficial pre-op diet, getting started..
Ready4it posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am very proud of myself! I am done with my whole last meal syndrome and honestly, I am not that bothered by it. Isn't that good? I looked at the food and thought, I can either this or know I'm not committed to my losing weight. If I eat now, what is going to stop me once I have my band? I would try to eat still. Anyway, the point of this! I am going to finish all of my paperwork this week (in the next two days) and make my appointment with my PCP. I need him to sign off for me and have him fill out this little thing for my team of Surgeons. I also am going to have all my labs done. Fun fun! :car: I also went grocery shopping today and bought everything with high Protein and low or free of sugar. I bought sugar free Jello, carnation instant Breakfast, sugar free popsicles, etc. I feel like I am taking the next step in this process. I am so excited and can't wait to tell my nutrionist and Surgeon what I have been doing!:whoo: -
I was wondering if there is anyway you can make the avatar bigger? I know it is 50x50 right now, but you can hardly see anything. I've seen 100x100 on many boards, and its just fine. Could this possibly be done??

Congratulations! I am going to my first appointment with my PCP this week and get all the labs done, get the ball rolling! I am SO excited and can't wait until I get approved!!!

Do you find it difficult not to drink with your meal?
Ready4it replied to luvinke's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is one of the things I am most worried about, to be honest. I drink during every meal and am scared of one of those times when I need water to help it go down. I'm trying to lessen my drinks/sips during meals, but it is difficult. I will get there though! -
I searched to see if this has been posted before, but didn't see anything. If I missed it, I'm sorry! Did you keep a journal and/or blog about your band journey? I am thinking about keeping one and letting others see it. I want to start it now and continue it throughout it. I want to be able to look back and read about the thing that changed my life, rather than just the memories. If that makes sense. Did you make a journal/blog? Did you wish you did? If you did, what were the good/bad things about it?

I have seen a variety of different quotes/phrase in peoples signatures and would like to hear some. I am thinking of possibly making some graphic with the quotes and putting it on my fridge, more as a reminder that what I am doing is right and is going to help me out in life. So, does anybody have any good quotes/phrases/motto's that they go by? Maybe one that has gotten stuck in your head ever since you heard it? Share it!

Hello everyone! I am from Knoxville, TN. I am still in the process of getting the Lap Band. If/when I get it, it will be performed at UT Medical Center. There is a new WL program there ran by Dr. Matthew Mancini, Dr. Gregory Mancini, as well as Dr. John D. Scott. The Mancini's are brothers, by the way. It is a brand new team they have put together, including a nutrionist that works with them. I am excited to start!

My mother called UHC today to ask if bariatric surgery is covered in our plan and they said that yes it was. She asked a few more questions about it and they basically said you need a recommendation from your PCP (not a problem), a few other documented things (saying how this would improve our lives, etc) and that was about it, which surprised me. Obviously, we both more than meet the requirements to have this surgery done, but I didn't think it would be that easy. Is this weird? Or just another green light? I know we have to go through approval and everything, which shouldn't be a problem at all. I just want to know if this is normal or not. Thanks!!

Congratulations! :girl_hug: I hope it keeps going well for you. Best of luck.

Ditto. I actually get mine at Walgreens. It is the Wyler's brand. 8 in a pack for $1.00. It tastes as good, if not better. It is yummy!!

I actually hadn't thought of this before, but it is something worth asking. One of the things I am looking forward to after losing the weight is being able to go to an amusement park and be able to go on rides. I don't think there would be a problem, especially since you can work out and everything just fine, but who knows? If anybody knows, let us know!! I can't wait to be able to go on rollercoasters and not worry anymore..

Starting the process
Ready4it replied to SunKissedinCali's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to LBT! I too am new. I have been looking into this for so long and finally went to my first seminar on Saturday. It jump started me into this journey. My insurance has been called, it is included if I can have my PCP saying that its a necessity, which shouldn't be a problem. He has been seeing me for years and has seen my weight rising each time, with no help of any dieting and/or exercise program. It shouldn't be a problem as I more than qualify. The only problem is is that I'm 18, but I've seen younger having it done, and I do need it. My advice is check if your insurance covers it thengo onto a seminar. I had done my fair amount of research, but this one really helped me! I loved the surgeon(s), the nutritionists, and everyone that would be supervising me on my journey into my new life. I cannot wait to take the next step!! Good luck! -
I am wondering this too. My nutritionist said to start looking for protein shakes/drinks since that is one thing they stress. PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN!! She is going to have some for me to try at a later date, but wants me to find about three or so that I like because I may stop liking one after I get banded. I am a little picky sometimes so this thread is helping me too. Thank you for posting it.

I was told Crystal Light was fine! I'm pretty much only drinking Crystal Light and Water, sometimes some milk. I've cut back completely on sodas and it is a little difficult, but I am better off if I do so now. And hopefully it will help me lose some weight. Love my CL. :girl_hug:

My mother (she is doing lap band as well and I am her dependent) called today and found out that we just need a letter from our PCP (shouldn't be a problem, seeing him very soon!) and then it should all be a go! I am so excited about this. My BMI is well over 40 and everyone in my family has high BP, some have sleep apnea, etc. I am so excited to progress to the next step! I just need to fill out some things for my surgeons and get some labs done, have my psych evaluaton and see what they say! UHC has always been so good to me, which doesn't seem like the normal thing around here, but it has. I've had quite a few medical issues in the past month and a half and they've been nothing but wonderful.
-
I haven't gotten the band yet, but will hopefully be banded by the end of this year. I am 18 as well and keep getting "but you're so young!", you've probably been through that too. I don't have much input though, but wish you the best. Maybe once I get mine done, we can talk!!

I went to a seminar on Saturday which took place at UT Medical Center (Knoxville, TN) and they have a new program for weight loss surgery. They compiled a team and that is how they work. They have three surgeons; Dr. Matthew Mancini, Dr. Gregory Mancini, and Dr. John D. Scott. All of which seemed like great guys and I would love to work with them. I am wondering if anyone here has heard or has had experience with them? It is a new program, but I know they worked at other places performing these surgeries. Let me know, thanks!
