I just check my surgeon, and he has similarly bad reviews. It was a center of excellence. He was wonderful, the hospital was the best, even the staff that cleaned my room offered to go get me a Popsicle or drink. They were absolutely the best. For whatever it is worth. -
I saw this website and app for Tradesy.com. Looks interesting. Would love to hear if anyone has used and any experiences - good/bad. Thanks!

Anyone use Tradesy?
GettingBackToNormal replied to GettingBackToNormal's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I used eBay a few years ago, and got some very good things in a lot sale. Some of which I am wearing again. This time I didn't see much. Tradesy looked interesting because the price includes shipping and you can return items. There us a restocking fee, but getting something back is better than nothing. Basically, I can make my own lot. I may give it a whirl. The selling looks interesting also, for someone like me that doesn't want the hassles of eBay or consignment. Again, there are fees, but so convenient. I mean, they have to make money too. I think it would be more than what I could get from a garage sale. Not interesting in selling. I am saving all my clothes to give my sister. Hopefully she will be getting sleeve surgery next year. -

Imitex made me sleep. I had good luck with Maxalt. They have one that melts under your tongue. They also now have a generic which makes it cheaper. -

How do you keep track of Protein if you don't measure anything? Just curious... My nut told us to measure by volume not by weight. I use a small glass cup, similar to a large shot glass, with ounces marked on the side. Goes to 5 ounces, got at Walmart for a couple of bucks. They are made by Anchor Hocking. I got 3 of them. -

I think it was the surgery for me. The protein drinks I was drinking before surgery tasted so sweet I couldn't stand them post surgery. -

The scale is finicky! I am almost three months and I refuse to ever call it a 'stall'. I think it is just how our bodies work! I have noticed that when the scale is steady or even if it has gone up, I am still getting smaller! Could be Water retention, or a liitle backed up in the bm dept., or the moon phase (lol). I am still shopping in my closet for smaller clothes. I also bought the next size down of underwear to go to. If the scale has been steady for a few days, that is when I will try on something that used to be tight and it will fit! I know a lot of people put the scale away or only weigh weekly. I actually weigh myself every morning! I will weigh a second time if I have a bm Once I see a lower weight, that is the number until I see it go lower. In other words, to maintain my sanity, I only count the downs not the ups! If the scale does move up, and it does, I ignore it because it is going to go down as long as I am following the program!! If weighing once a week works for you, great. My husband is adamant about only weighing one a week and thinks my way is nuts. If you are like me and need that instant gratification and weigh daily, you may need to measure inches or judge by clothing fit when the scale is misleading you. -

I had no issues with gall bladder surgery, so I am no help. Sorry.
-
I had gall bladder removed in 2005, and sleeve in March. No issues. I have heard a number of people need gall bladder removed after surgery due to rapid weight loss causing gall stones, so I was glad that I didn't have to worry about that. I had read many posts about issues with the gas pain due to the air they pump in your abdomen for the surgery. My thinking is they would have done something similar for the gall bladder surgery and I didn't remember any issues with trapped gas, and I didn't have any problems with the sleeve surgery with gas. Except for the additional issues with drinking and eating, my pain levels and recovery were very similar to the gall bladder surgery.

Who eats McDonalds post op?

A cheap Taco Bell meal for me is pintos and cheese and one taco. I dump the taco stuffing on top of the pintos and toss the shell or tortilla. I order a soft taco since I am less likely to want the flour tortilla. Wendy's has a kids meal with grilled chicken wrap (I pitch the tortilla), apples instead of fries and low fat milk. Chick Fil A has grilled chicken nuggets. -

Hysterectomy & Sleeve at the same time Questions
GettingBackToNormal replied to MommyMeghan's topic in The Gals' Room
I had both and could not imagine having both at the same time! I had my hysterectomy two years before. I had pretty easy recoveries with both but to do both would have been overwhelming. I was out a month with the hysterectomy, bladder sling, both ovaries removed. I went home and had problems urinating, so ended up having to have a catheter at home for a few days. Pain was considerably more and had to be real careful getting up, down, etc. for weeks. For the sleeve, boy was it wonderful not being sore "down there". I could not have dealt with trying to get my fluids in and progressing through the diet stages (clear liquids, liquids, puréed, soft, etc.) during the hysterectomy recovery. I feel like I had more than I could deal with at a time doing them separately. -

My preop included a fiber supplement (benifiber). That helped a lot with curbing hunger. -
I went thru a divorce and lost 75 pounds. Still heavy at 180 but felt awesome. Told myself I would never put that weight back on. Fast forward, remarried, happy, and the weight slowly crept back on. My breaking point was not when I could no longer wear my beautiful wedding and engagement rings, but when after over a year of not wearing them, my wonderful husband wanted to get them resized for me for Christmas. That was it. I was 230 pounds. I am now 220 and on preop liquids for surgery on 3/28 and doing something so I can lose it and never put it back on again. My first NSV is to put my rings back on!!!!!

Specific friend advice needed! Pic included
GettingBackToNormal replied to dreamscometrue's topic in Rants & Raves
Wait, you saw her three times and sat there and didn't say anything waiting for her to say something? How awkward. Maybe she is sitting there wondering why in the heck you are not saying something. Your friends for goodness sake. I know it is obvious, but you are the one with the news, you should be bringing it up and starting the conversation. -

5 weeks Post op and suffering terrible panic/anxiety attacks daily
GettingBackToNormal replied to spangebabe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told during my psych evaluation that my QA test indicated I had a little anxiety. I had a full hysterectomy and my hormone patch dose was just recently lowered. The psychologist told me it could be hormones and if it bothered me too much to call my doctor to adjust my dose. She also warned me that as we lose weight, fat cells release hormones that could also aggravate and cause anxiety to worsen. -
Who is in March?
GettingBackToNormal replied to plantosleeve67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just found out my pre op diet is only one week and I get 1 cup of raw veggies per day besides the usual protein, fiber, and liquids. Caught gastroenteritis from my grandson but should be over that soon. I am babysitting on 3/15 but only if they are all well, then no more grandkids until after surgery. I think I am ready. -
